David Thompson's documentary on the great film director who was a key figure in Italian neo-realism. Contributors include his daughter Isabella, son Gil, directors the Taviani brothers, Carlo Lizzani and Lindsay Anderson. Picture quality isn't good. Two segments amounting to about four minutes have been trimmed out to comply with copyright.
