If I were Toby, I would hire you to do cutscenes instantly. Edit, two weeks later, because this blew up: I played the video again now and I must admit, that some of the animations just feel wrong, especially the walking, which would be repeated a lot. What I'd leave would be Susie knocking on the door and then the animation of them falling. Maybe even them walking backwards on the papers, but I'd probably reduce the frame rate of that a bit. The thing is that the animation is great, but at some of you pointed out in replies, it wouldn't fit very well next to all the simple animations.
Deltaruens cutscenes, from what I've seen, use spritesheet pages, so it would take WAY longer and a gallons more worth kf effort just to get through half of a cutscene-
I think I heard something about Toby not wanting his characters to look TOO detailed. I might be thinking of the wrong person but I'm pretty sure he's scrapped characters for just looking too detailed

This was actually kinda cool though In the game Kris and Susie fall down relatively close together and it makes it seem like they should've landed closer than they did This kinda points to the fact that they actually fell a good distance apart

I like the way this is done. First of all everything's smooth, like 60 fps sorta. And then, the falling cutscene fits both personalities and the canon. Kris just falls down without trying to escape at all, while Susie doesn't want to fall and reaches her hand up. They both also falls different directions as they don't end up in the same place, right?... And they actually have an animation during falling.
Holy shit. While I love this (It looks insane, looks like it took loads of effort, and is very smooth) it looks somewhat uncanny and also jarringly smooth. Like if you saw SMBU mario in SMB1. I definitely think is an awesome appearance though.
I respect the skills and dedication used to make this and the other videos, and I know this one is pretty old, but please, don't call this version "improved" thinking it's seriously better than the original. Adding more frames and complex physics to everything arbitrarily isn't an improvement, specially when you completely ignore what the original was going for. The flaws are specially apparent when Kris gets up, the few frames he had in the original conveyed his action perfectly, he was struggling to get up, which you can feel by how jagged and shaky he is, but here, he just smoothly morphs in an unnatural way when he sits, and has no problems standing even though he fell through a fucking hole. And on top of that, in the original, to not interrupt gameplay for too long, he didn't do a goofy Disney-style "Wow my clothes changed" animation, which also contributed to making him more mysterious and ambiguous. Again, I respect your work, but please, I'm so tired of these "Nintendo hire this man" comments made by people who genuinely believe this is an improvement.
I can see your point in the slightly morphing bit, but that's about it. The animation lasts roughly a minute and you there saying "It lasts too long for game" when it's not even trying to replace the game experience? So.....Are you actually criticizing the comments or the actual video? Get a grip.
I agree! The animation in this video is very smooth and im sure the creator put alot of effort into making this video. But the original cut scene has its own unique charm and really shows that Kris is struggling to get up. The feeling the original game portrayed is lost in the animation where everything is smooth. Nontheless the animation is still amazing!
