I imported recently three Hoya plants and they are struggling. Even after a couple of weeks they are still not doing great. But I also imported an Anthurium falcatum Ecuagenera (from Ecugenera) which is beautiful and healthy and growing so fast. One lesson I learned is I now collect rain water so when my imports get here and immediately leave them in it for a couple of days to rehydrate the roots. I will continue to order from Ecuagenera since they also now have warehouses here in the US.
You can mist the cataphyl soak it and use a damp q tip to help it out. Don’t lift it out but slide the wet q tip down inside the cataphyl towards the closed end. That opens the sheath freeing the new leaf.
I absolutely agree with you. I' ve imported from Indonesia, Aroid Asia, Aroid Market and Green Spaces. Every time my plants arrived either dead or knocking on death's door. The customer service was also not the best. However I've ordered at least four times from Ecuagenera and have never been disappointed with my order, or their customer service. Also in my experience anthuriums do import much better than Philodendrons.
So my 2cents is this, I prob wouldn't import at all unless its Spring or beginning of Summer. Hoyas import horribly for me, but can easily be saved by chopping and re-rooting. Great video topic!
I’ve imported from greenspacesid twice. I recently ordered from tropicals after seeing your video and ecugarenausa. I haven’t received those orders yet. By the way, I don’t know about that fuzzy petiole! I’ve ordered it locally twice and both times it give up on life!😅
I feel you imports aren’t certainly a struggle. In my experience only Aroid Asia all my plants survived to this day. Anything Ecuagenera for me never does well lol!! Imports just take forever and I don’t even know anymore if it’s worth it anymore 😂😅
Thank you for Sharing your houseplants lovely ♥♥😎😎🌹🌹

Same with my Hoya/:

Thanks! I’ll try that next time
Ive had to wear long sleeves on Friday. It’s in the 50’s and it started raining 😞😞😞 Even with rain, it’s still cold. I feel ya. Brrr 🥶
I’m with you with not getting used to this cold 😢 🥶
Seriously! It’s jus not right lol

Wow yea there’s deff a higher risk involved when importing from Indonesia vs Ecuador.
