We went out to railfan after some #4 all the ways and then M&E NJT crank past in Dover after seeing a red diesel at the edge of Dover yard confirming a Morristown & Erie move was happening. We went out expecting nothing as no radio yet still but the odds were in our favor as everything lined up so smoothly so unexpectedly. Enjoy.
- [8:37pm] NJT GP40 #4111 & M&E GP15 #24 Rolls Through Dover West Bound w/ Tankers Both Longhood Forward to C&D yard
- [9:30-10:30pm] C&D yard M&E GP15 shuffling around the yard while NJT GP40 #4102 & #4111 and Chesapeake Delaware GP38-2 #5304 idle
- [11:18pm] Denville NJT GP40 #4111 w/ Morristown & Erie GP15 #24 and tankers cruise past East bound towards M&E yard marking end of chase and end of night for us atleast.
I thought NJ Transit retired the 4111. I'm glad to see that it's still in service.
Watching those crewmen working in the dark like that all I could think of was "Thank God for LED technology!" Look how that area was lit up! Can you imagine what it was like in the old days working with only kerosene lanterns for illumination? Those lanterns were good but not THAT good. Even incandescent bulb lanterns and flashlights are primitive by comparison.
A very educational and food-for-thought comparative video! Love the paint scheme on the M&E engines! Thanks for posting!
Thank you for your kind comment Wayne! Hope you enjoyed watching haha, yes indeed thank God or LED's. They would have been out of luck without them as the entire yard was PITCH black, barely got the dark shots because my phone wouldn't cooperate. Nonetheless I got some of the shuffling around in the dark. Kept saying to my buddy wish they had spotlights as we both would've been able to see better plus the crew would have a safer work space. Thanks again & Cheers from Jerz!
Great video! I tried to catch the MX-91 a little while ago, but ended up with just a bunch of NJT stuff lol.
Thank you!!! thats what usually happens haha
I think I've seen 4111 at Campbell Hall once finishing up switching.
