I also saw the crazy bright red ruby prominence in the lower right with the naked eye. I could see a few others, but that one stood out. It really shows up in your video at 7:14. I was in Rio Frio, Texas.
Indeed, glad to capture that spectacular prominence (like the other commenter - actually 3-4 prominences bunched together). That bright red prominence really "made" the event - unique and different from the 2017 TSE.
The most amazing thing about the April 8 TSE was that TicketMaster couldn't figure out a way to charge us to watch it. I was watching a few minutes later in Erie.
My video was with a telescope with only a 1 1/2 degree FoV so I couldn't capture the full glory of the outer corona. This was my first TSE experience and I was like, the outer corona looks way more " spikey " than any previous eclipse video or images I've ever seen and I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Thank you so much for this wonderful outer corona wide angle shot. My eyes really were not deceiving me after all! 🤣Definitely a super " spikey " outer corona compared to any videos or images of past eclipses!
Thanks for your comments - the bottom line is that the corona is really hard to shoot. I feel like my footage is a bit over-exposed, but then again it shows the outer corona really well, and it certainly gives the flavor of how the corona appeared. What I appreciated in real life was the color of the corona - a very unique pearl color, truly mesmerizing.
@@rocketgeekguy2 I noticed the same! There were color variations that I noticed don't really show on camera very well, but believe me you have one of the best outer corona shots on the internet! It amazes me that us amateurs can go toe to toe on par with NASA and high profile observatory sponsored footage 😆I think the dedication and personal time ( in my case it was years ) spent preparing that makes for great footage. It's almost like putting love into something you cook. The people that eat it can literally taste it.

Beautiful view of the corona!! Nicely done. I watched it up in Southern Ontario near Lake Erie. I saw 3-4 prominences with my birding binoculars.
