Wait you mean to tell me it's NOT RPG Maker!?! I don't know what Pirate Software's experience is, though I was pretty sure he had professional experience. This sort of reminds me of Max from Red Trigger, who had came from the AAA space and decided to go indie. While there is of course a ton of transferable experience, no doubt. There is still the matter of project management, which - at least between Pirate Software and Max - definitely seems like something a lot of these ex-AAA devs lack. They are use to working in environments with effectively a bottomless wallet and unlimited resources.
Thor previously worked at Blizzard (his dad was a cinematics director for like 20 years), although he was doing cybersecurity stuff. But you have a point. His experience with game dev is taking 12 years to make D3 and 11 to make D4 while you rake in billions in cash from WoW and have an even bigger parent company to back you up!
While this does have a 16 minute section where we talk about Thor and our wariness of his integrity, it is followed by a 30 minute section where we review the game and score it. Fair point that we walked to talk about Pirate Software, but I like when a video has more than one bullet point to discuss on a topic.
Game maker, thank you for the video!
This was made in the Game Maker engine.
It's Game Maker.
gamemaker 2 not rpg maker
pirate software is always updating it on stream using GML
Ah, I actually thought he made his own engine, especially since the game is so simple. Well, thanks for the spoilers lol
He actually isn't updating heartbound on stream much any more due to spoilers
