What do you think of the MacBook Pro M1 MAX?
I don't know so much about computer power but the explanation in this video shows how powerful this computer can be .

I don’t like the design personally, as you know - looks fresh out of 2007 but it’s fast 🤙🏼 I’ll stick with my pink MacBook 😹
I would like to win it in a giveaway sometime
Being able to switch your display on the fly is so handy! Never been a Mac guy but I can appreciate their beauty. They're fantastic. The studio display monitor is absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks, just about to upgrade and I was looking for a decent review. I would also be using it with a screen and as my main computer.
Thnk you for reviewing
Thanks for the good video. Could you please connect Macbooks with 2 27-inch displays and test heavy files on Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator like a busy freelancer with 8 to 12 programs open? Also, that would be great to compare the result after each year, because the speed of our computers and software significantly become low for some reasons, like iPhones.
I use Fl studio as my DAW but Logic is great also. Abelton I find handy when dealing with pure audio alone.
my mom is planning on buying me a computer for college and she gave me the option between a macbook pro or an imac depending on how i think i'll be handling them so now im here doing research to get a good idea of how i'll be working 😅
Been looking for my next Mac, and wondering how the MBAir M2 would handle AdobeCC apps. Would throttling become an issue, and so on. Thx for this video, Will. -JB
Hey Will, been a follower for years and love your videos. Just wondering if one is financially tight. Should I get the m2 max MacBook Pro or would M1 Max be more than enough for a professional packaging designer? I work with a lot of clipping masks in illustrator and have photoshop renders that could go up for 1.5gb? I find that a lot of times, that the image clipped inside the mask will appear glitching when I zoom in and out. THANKS! ✨✨✨
Is the mac 14 entry level m1 pro a good option for a course of graphic design? Thank you
I learn a lot from you Will
Thank you

I would've loved this video if you went more in-depth about working on Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign specifically. Since this laptop was launched every single review for "creatives" has been 99% about video/photo editing and music production, people who don't work as graphic designers full-time don't really realize how heavy image compositing on PS or a full brand identity file on Illustrator can get, to the point that the program stops running for a lack of RAM and/or processing power. I work full-time on an i9 with 64gb of RAM and I still run into these problems a lot more frequently than I should. I know in theory a good computer for video editing is a good computer for graphic design, but in my experience, it doesn't quite work like that all the time. I think that having a review focused on heavy graphic design work would help most of the people that subscribe to you a lot more than a review talking about video editing.
I did review this part and I can definitely recommend this laptop for you if you're having those issues.
I have questions I bought MacBook Pro M2 200 GB yesterday and I already got my iPad Pro M1 500 GB about a year ago, and the iCloud in my iPad asking me to upgrade the space.
So my questions is, if I use the same Apple ID for the Mac will the iCloud ask me to upgrade the storage also ?
And is it better to use the same ID for both ? or not ? for Mac storage in general!
I hope someone will understand my questions and answer me 🥹
Could you test the M2 Macbook Air for Graphic Design? It seems u are the only real youtuber with experience in graphic design who could make a real life test. Would love to know how it handles demanding tasks with photoshop or illustrator
I'll see what I can do :)
Man what's the program that you sed on that tree graphics ?
can you recom mac color profile for graphic design i dk which is the best color lcd or p3 or adobe rgb cuz my macbook does show like you it said image p3 and other is display p3
I'm your fan, I'm from Senegal, i want to learn design with you.
Hey Will, I have the base M1 pro 14" and i tend to find that my device lags in illustrator with even 10 artboards sometimes. Not a super heavy file under 300mb. Is Adobe still not fully optimised? Do you face these issues as well?
I have similar issues with AI and AE. Probably Adobe and their substandard software
I see you have the Made.by.james book in the back there. Incredible book!
I have the MacBook Pro M1 Max 16” I love it it’s without a doubt the best laptop I have ever had.
I use it for graphic design work, mostly for Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign. 👍🇦🇺
Does it over heat fast with running the Adobe apps?
@@ROB-tb9ce no, it does get warm but not hot.
Even running Illustrator and Photoshop the temperature remains just warm and will run for 12 to 15 hours.
I used M1 Macbook it was really great for Video Editing. i compared M1 MacBook to a GTX laptop for 3d workflow. and the results were similar so I prefer Nvidia GPU laptops over MacBook's as its better for 3d workflow and cheaper. and according to tech notice YT channel comparison even cheapest RTX GPU (rtx3050) could beat Mac Studios in 3d rendering.
love macs for my graphic design work and video editing. That said if I did heavy 3d it would be difficult to justify using a mac for that. It just is not built for that even if you go all out spec wise. To me this is a grt machine for the fast majority of creatives. I super lucked out and gor]t a new m1 max with 64gb of memory for 2299. Insane deal.
2:15 I just realized the Adobe Illustrator 2022 text on application frame isn't aligned center with the macbook pro notch
Was expecting a give away sir 😂 but thr fact is this Mac products are equal to a car price ( atleast ) , but epic tech!
And a car’s power
Good video but my eyes were spinning seeing the logo u were makin 😂
Hey Will! I hope I will get an answer to my question (maybe some of the other subscribers would help).
I am looking for a page (website) that you referred to some time ago. The AI generates a random description of the company and a product that they would achieve (i.e. website, logo etc.).
It was really helpful to work on the products as we do not have to think about the brand and imagine them. We can just simply work on the product.
Any suggestion guys?
Was it Goodbrief. io?
@@naomipaterson9300 yess!!! Many thanks!
@@MichauBalicki no worries! 😸
So I have the M1 Pro 10 core CPU 14 inch MacBook Pro, the fans NEVER turn on while I have adobe illustrator, indesign, music and safari running... it is amazing. I thought go getting the 1 m max but its overkill for graphic designers in my opinion.
I am going through this consideration right now, M1 PRO or MAX for GD
I am curious what specs you got. I barely achieved Max with my 24 core 32 GB RAM model. Part of me wonders if I should have gotten 64 GB RAM.
What made you wonder so?
How is it doing now, a year later?
@@jaimin.rathod I thought i would be doing more heavy lifting with 3D, blender and after effects but I’m not. What I have has been perfectly fine for my graphic design needs.
@@ceeece Thank you for the response!
I will also be using it for graphic design. At times I have PS, Illustrator and InDesign open simultaneously.
Any recommendation on the Chip/RAM/SSD space that would not make me regret the purchase?
Great video Will. As a recent graphic design graduate I needed a new laptop for working on the go. I ended up getting a m1 pro 14”, as a max would be overkill for my workflow (and way too expensive right now). This machine is amazing. I was a little concerned since I didn’t upgrade to 32GB of ram as that would’ve taken over a month to ship, but haven’t run into any memory problems, at least yet. This thing feels faster in adobe apps than my desktop which on paper is way more powerful. My only concern is that not upgrading the ram will come back to haunt me, as I am hoping to keep this thing for at least 3 years.
Hey have you noticed that the Battery dies really fast? I got mine in January and I don’t know why in may/ June the battery died so much that I already have 94% of the battery capacity (sometimes I had to charge the MacBook 3-4 times in a day). I mostly use Illustrator, Photoshop and Maya. I don’t know if this is normal or not ☹️
Hey did you get the base variant with 512gb and 16gb ram? How do you find illustrator and other Adobe programs ? I usually find lags while I work in illustrator
@@sofiaasgs7475 hey yes, my laptop is just a week old and i don't find the battery life extremely great. It last about a day with minimal usage. About 3 hrs heavy work and 4 hrs normal browsing
@@travis_saldanha I got the full 10/16 with 1TB of storage. I would check activity monitor when it’s laggy and check your memory pressure. Also do you have a lot of browser tabs or other programs open when it slows down?
I am mainly using Illustrator right now and it’s not lagged for me yet. Granted I’m not working on huge complex files right now but I’d say they are moderately big projects.
@@sofiaasgs7475 this is why I am going for the mac studio, no headache because of battery anymore (yeah you giving up portability)
Hello Will, thank you for video. that’s so inspiring.
but i have question, really glad if you reply it. is that enough for graphic designer using MacBook Pro M2 with 8gb RAM and 256gb SSD? the software are Ps, Ai, Ae, InDesign, Canva, Gdrive, Gmail, Zoom and Ms Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote). because i just have budget for 8/256 gb.
That is more than powerful enough in my opinion. :))
@@willpatersondesign thank you for the answer Will, really appreciate it. I’m sorry that I forget about 3D blender. if I add 3d blender too, is that fine if using 8/256gb? Or maybe if I have more budget, what should I choose between 16/256 or 8/512? once again, thank you so much Will :)
Hi i really love your channel. I wanted to ask as a beginner graphic designer is there a budget laptop that you could recommend that works efficiently with the Adobe suite as well as 3d render. ?
Yeah I need to know if MacBook Air m2 would be good for graphic designing
Is that made by James book? Couldn't get my eyes off of it 😌
It is!
I got one through work to replace my trash can tower. I have to say, throughly underwhelmed. It struggles in Illustrator, rendering out a 30sec animation for AE is probably the same time as my old tower. It’s ok, but didn’t blow my pants off. The hype wasn’t real. 👎🏻
Lol it doesn’t sound like an m1 max
Notch 🤷♂
bad video is just an advertisement without a soul
lmao, it's not even sponsored! 🤣
There is soul in this video if you are a designer and you understand things.. for people who have to do work and have experience with computers, this is a very good cover of a person who works in a certain field in this example design and shares his experience..
@@TheMaksimiljan yes no problem - I won't even argue
You have your opinion, I have mine - take care of yourself - good luck
