I live in Northeast US and have a question about dry stone wall on hill/slope if you please...it appears that you maintain level stone lines until you reach close top the top then you transition to stone line parallel with the hill/slope. Am I correct? Any guidance or recommendations for working on slopes? Thanks please keep the content coming it fantastic.
Yeah you've pretty much got it. For slopes under 10% you can follow the lay of the land with tour walling but above that you should wall your courses level. As you wall the course your wall will get wider as you get closer to ground level. I'll need to do a proper video on it because it is a bit confusing to explain. But yes the stones remain level and then on the last course I find triangular shaped stones that have a level bottom then the top of the stone follows the slope.
2/2 on one course you can have a stone at top height and one at foundation level if you wall level so it may go from being 14" wide to 28" wide on the same course. This is the biggest thing to get your head around when walling up a hill .
