You say "especially when hit from the side" but i think with these 12.8 cm high velocity guns even a frontal hit on the glacis, the thickest part of the heaviest tanks it would still be devastating nonetheless. Though the side is what they'd usually have as a target bec of the high position of these guns as they provided covering fire for other beleaguered positions. But the longer side profile of a tank affords both shells an opportunity to hit full on whereas frontally maybe only one shell has that chance.
I recall a description by one account of one of these twin 128 mm guns from the Zoo tower hitting one of the leading heavy tanks assaulting the Reichstag, as it was crossing one of the bridges that it "suddenly disappeared from sight"

I wonder if each stripe on the Barrels equals only 1 aircraft or maybe 5 or 10 per stripe??? Oh, and nice video as usual!

Since we're no longer under attack from RAF and USAAF, we don't use them anymore. 😁
Seriously, some of the Flak towers still exist - simply because they are too expensive to remove - but the guns of course were scrapped after the war. Haven't seen a single one in a museum yet. You can plaster the roads with 88s, though, but then again usually on their wheeled carriage.

I hope you don't mind but it's not a Flak gun. "Flak" already means anti-aircraft gun.

They also had a bigger variant a 30cm Flugabwehrkanone 120F that weighed 52 tons. The barrel was twice as long and in one instance destroyed 3 b-17 in one shot due to the huge projectile fragmentation the shells made

Bombed cities were defended by those flaks, but could not be protected with them.
Flaks were ineffective against the high altitude bombers, because of unprecise random fire.

according to the allies, the flak caused the most casualties to the air crews after 1943. Hardly ineffective, considering the total air and material supremacy of the allies

The heavy bomber formations would change course just before nearing areas known to have heavy AA guns to avoid their flak fired up to meet them. Then they changed course again to avoid their readjusted aiming points. Their AAA still brought them down due to the length of their formations and longer range of cannons like this one.

Flak is basically meant to be Anti Everything including naval, air, tank, bunker, etc. They have Flak 3.7cm for that

Statistics are that loses are low.
They are effective if they hit close enough, but they did NOT.
Modern AA defence is therefore missile based.
