Samurai, just want to let you and anyone who stumbles across this comment know that the plans and videos for this bench are really top notch! I'm a novice for sure, no shame here, but the plans are crystal clear and the videos have just the advice you need before you put a blade to the wood. A sincere thank you for putting out excellent content.

Seeing you work, and then seeing the result of your work, warmed my heart immensely, Thank you for an experience which was clearly intended to be spiritual and which I perceived as something spiritual. I think I have watched the making of the samurai workbench video something like ten times already. It manages to warm my heart every time and help me believe there is still hope for humans in this world.... If you never get an order at all, know that you have at least made a few people's lives better. I am one of them and will always be grateful.

So much functionality to go with all that beauty. I was plenty impressed with how well it was made and how gorgeous it was, and now you show all the handy things it does! Pure genius, sir. The center tool holder is clever, the positioning of the extra dog holes is clever, its all just so well thought out.

My bench is only a shadow of that beauty. When you mentioned your height of 6'6" (which is not perceptible) and that you'd raised the work surface that was one of the best things I've ever done too. I'm 6'1" and no longer wanted to hunch over the work. If you're tall that may be one of the biggest justifications for building a new bench - raising the work surface. You'll never regret it, it's a game changer.

That is an awesome bench build, my old man (dad) is a cabinetmaker and I wish I had had the opportunity to learn from him, he has made some of the most amazing and beautiful things I've ever seen in wood, all my toys when I was a little on where made by him (I miss those days) but I'm 53 now and it's a bit too late, mum and dad split when I was 7 and the opportunity to learn from him went with it, it's a bit late in life to finally decide a career, cherish every moment you get with your children, it only happens ones, Paul out 👌😉👌

Thank you for such inspirational videos. Your videos are obviously geared towards woodworkers. I am not a woodworker per se. I started looking online for ways to build a small bookshelf that does not look like it was just put together without any thought. I am also interested in the Japanese culture (and was are of the architecture without using nails) which is how I stumbled upon your youtube channel.
Even though I am not a woodworker, your detailed, funny and inspiring videos make me want to do the little things with a lot more thought put into them. Thanks!

One question/comment, the center divider, I noticed the notches, I assume they allow a flush top. instead of completely removing and flipping, could you just lift it out of the notches and slide it away from the tail vise, thus creating the work stop and not having to remove all of your tools?
