RIC is likely done. There is no way RBR is going to promote him to the top team in place of Perez, and he hasn't beaten Tsunoda convincingly. RB will replace him with Lawson, maybe soon. RBR needs to bring up young drivers if they want to keep their young driver program attractive to new talent. RIC will be missed on the grid.
Stroll is 10th in points. Seems there are 10 drivers less worthy than he.

@@Full_Beans It's an easy way to generate funds. And Renault doesn't want to sell. If you want to sell an F1 team so that the investors can make money, it would make the most sense to sell it to a party that has money to invest and experience in running such an organization or at least with building their own car and managing and expanding the concerning kinds of infrastructure. Andretti has none of these things.

Of course he didn't. For Haas, the Dallara deal is part of their infrastructure. People thought it would work but in hindsight it didn't really and they would not be allowed into F1. Neither would a team like Manor.
Idc, Danny looked better in China. If the car developes as it should, then I think everyone will be singing a different tune. All ya need to do to beat Yuki is get him worked up. Danny beating him and smiling all over the dance floor will be enough to cover that.

RIC clearly isn't good enough to promote to the top team, and RBR needs to give Lawson a drive or they risk losing him. Tsunoda has been much better than Danny this year, so there is little chance they will drop Tsunoda in favor of RIC...

I came up with a points system where a win bags 22 points and P2 gets 19 points and each position gets one less point down to P20 gets 1 point. Fastest lap gets one point regardless of finishing position. A DNF results in zero points awarded.
I did the math to the current season and Perez is leading the championship by one point. Leclerc and Verstappen are tied.
It was definitely interesting to see how some drivers shifted positions. And Alpine is 8th in the constructors.

I’ve thought about this before. But the problem is there isn’t enough motivation then to actually WIN. May as well not push and come in 2,3,4 or lower since the difference isn’t really there.

@@SoupTech - you may see it that way, that drivers may not push of an extra point.
However seeing that my proposed point system only awards 3 extra points for a win and one point through the rest of the field that each point becomes more valuable, which in my eyes and is a motivation to try and make that overtake. Essentially this is an average finishing position points system through a whole season.

Should not do points any further down. It should really mean something to get a point.
F1 is very similar to NASCAR in that there is so much young talent, but too many drivers in the Old Boys Club.

Why not give out “Secondary Points” for positions 11-20.
11th - 10 pts 16th - 5 pts
12th - 9 pts 17th - 4 pts
13th - 8 pts 18th - 3 pts
14th - 7 pts 19th - 2 pts
15th - 6 pts 20th - 1 pt or 0 pt
0 points for DNF
And for every 20 “Secondary Points” a driver will get 1 World Champion point.
20 Secondary Points = 1 World Champion point.
This would make position battles in the back meaningful.
Would make it really hard to follow for the audience.
The FIA is too backward to understand these things. Politics is more important, you know?

The comment quotes from teams and drivers leave me laughing as they are just vague commercialized prep statements. ......we're working towards our goals......isn't everyone everywhere on every team in every race throughout history? At what point would you or anyone on the team say you are going to stop working on your goals. None of these comments mean anything or carry any weight. It's just random words and you see this in every interview, every answer to a question no matter the topic. No one will speak freely because of contract clauses. As much as hate Nascar at least the drivers and teams will get up and say what is really on their mind regardless of who or what is going to get mad. In F1 every article written, every video, every broadcast is ......I'm confident we can stay positive from today's events and move forward to improve for the next race. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz
