@RichardSaunders-w9b Thanks Rich, that's awesome. I've got a 1936 BSA Standard number 2, Fires great and is surprisingly accurate. Maybe have a look at that as it's a popular affordable classic and a great place to start if you want to collect vintage air rifles. If that's to old maybe a BSA Super 10.
Thanks for watching. And yes, that's the plan. Let us know if there's any rifle you'd like to see reviewed and if we can get hold of one we'll do our best...
How about a classic Webley springer, Something like a Xocet, Stingray, Omega or Longbow? If you intend to review classic PCP’s also, a BSA Super Ten, Theoben Rapid or a Falcon FN19 Lighthunter?
Good to see a classic air rifle brings back memories when I used to have a BSA Mercury back in the day looking forward to seeing more classic air rifles thank you for sharing.
Hi Rich I have a theoben fenman in .22 thumbhole stock and I will never part with it, I have to say its the best rifle I've ever owned and am now 60 years old and regularly dispatch covids in my garden (safely) its an iconic rifle, thanks for your piece on gas rams, keep up the good work.
Nice one Richard i remember them being for sale in our gun shop they looked smart then and to be fair still look smart now, i would love to get my hands on one for an afternoon.
Hiya Richard! I had a sirocco classic carbine with a simmons whitetail classic scope, must have had somebody weave some magic into it, it was brilliant i would take it into work and we would shoot it at dinner time, hilti caps at 20 yards were a doddle for this gorgeous rifle. Then stupidly followed the sheep and traded it in for Rapid seven tyreleon stock, in calm conditions couldn't miss a thing at sensible ranges but no soul, lifeless. WHAT A PLONKER WHAT AN AIR RIFLE
@RichardSaunders-w9b Where do we start Richard. 🤯 always loved the fenman but never owned one. The prices of theoben rifles have sky rocketed over the last couple of years.
I had a sirocco 2000. Very accurate certainly at close range. Would often put different shots through the same hole on a target, once you got accustomed with the gas ram system.Sold it a few years ago. Regretted it ever since.
Love seeing these rifles from my youth, managed to collect a few myself in recent years (Webley Vulcan deluxe, FWB Sport, Anshutz 335, Webley Omega, Webley Eclipse) to add to my early 80s Original 45 and HW35E. We all need a bit of nostalgia to take us back to simpler times.
Amazingly beautiful stock on that particular airgun. Very, very nice, hope you'll enjoy it for at least as many decades as it took you to get it! Thank you for sharing 🙂
In the 90s I shot a lot with a friend who owned an FAC Rapid 7, and Fenman. I am an Air Arms chap through and through. Hand on heart, for quality Theobens are the equal of anything made today. Personally I think the only off the shelf brand that comes close now, are Air Arms. Having said that, the rifle I most enjoy at the moment is a tricked out 97 KT. Nice clip.
I had a maintenance guy the other day say you know about guns have a look at this, I new it was a sirroco instantly, I broke it and it had a slug in the barrel said to the guy its loaded his reply was yes wont fire? I CLICKED THE SAFETY holding the barrel and de cocked it apparently it had been like it for days I re cocked it and fired it into the ground his comment was how the hell did you do that, luckily for him his son they hadn't shot themselves or someone else. A little knowledge is a bad thing. Lovely to see one again might see if they won't to sell it 👍
Theoben Gasram break barrel and their underlever Gasram are the finest air rifles ever made well ahead of their time nothing even made today comes close to the quality of the theobenes
Sorry Richard, I dispute your claim of the steel silencer. When I spoke with Ben of Theoben Guns, 40 years ago (phone), on removing it, he immediately informed me that it was NOT a silencer, but a barrel weight to counteract muzzle flip. I am sure that he knew what he was talking about!
Loved my Fenman before moving on to a Rapid 12/200, such a shame what happened to the company that produced such classis rifles probably better than most on todays market.
Well, I have an original Sirocco in walnut, which I bought directly from Theoben in Cambridgeshire. Had them pump her up to 25ft.lbs. Have shot rabbits up to & beyond 50 yds, .22, pellet straight threw head shots. No longer capable of such feats. Will never sell it.
A lot of years ago a had an HW80 which a was a great shot with now a couldn’t shoot a barn door with that rifle my 12 year old son can hit pigeons at 50yard with an fx Dreamline a told him about the old legendary rifles and a dont think he believed me 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️👍
You forgot to say if you over power the H.E version then it will break at the pistol grip, It was designed to break on sub 12ft lb rifles., Max scope on my(2000) Sirocco 2000 HE is a 4x16 x44, Same max scope size on my (1987) Theoben Grand Prix , Both in .22 , Both in perfect working order @ 11.8 ft lb
@@RichardSaunders-w9b Please don't take my last comment as a criticism I was just trying to help point out some bad points of the Theoben Gas Rams, And yes I love both of mine, I really want a Mk 1 rapid 7 as well to complete my set . Great videos keep up the good work.
Hi. The unlicensed legal limit in most of the UK is 12 ft/lbs or 16 Joules. Anything above that requires a Firearms Certificate. There is no restriction on calibre though. I understand some countries that do not restrict power levels restrict calibres instead.
@RichardSaunders-w9b Yes some do. But in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 both caliber and joule output are unlimited. But in principle 16 Joules like in the UK🇬🇧 is plenty unless you want to go big game hunting with an air rifle wich is illegal in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 for animal cruelty laws. Same with bows and crossbows those too are legal to own and unlimited as well, but you can't hunt big game with them because of that animal cruelty law. It's only allowed with a hunting rifle here. Somehow that's less cruel 🙃. Interesting how legislation is so different and for different reasons in every country 🤔.
Excellent addition to the channel, can’t wait to see more classic rifles reviewed.
Thanks Henry. More classic rifles in the pipeline!
Great to see Rich review this old school classic. looking forward to seeing more classics from the past and how they hold up today. Great show lads! 👍
Thanks very much Jay. Let us know if there's an older rifle you'd like us to review. If we can get hold of one we'll do our best.

My dream rifle as a kid and one I’ll probably never own. To me, it really is how an air rifle should look, so thank you for letting us see yours Rich.

Great to see a classic air rifle review. Hope you carry this on.

Yes. It's thanks to Nath at Oswestry Furniture Emporium who restored it. Man's a genius!

I have a Theoben Taunus but it's many years since I last used it.
Same here, easily my favourite gun the taunus .
@chrisharrison9220 me too. Personally l think they are the most beautiful of the lot
Lets hope this review of classic airguns continues, theres plenty to go at.

Maybe for collectors, but this accuracy at this range, leaning on a bag is RUBBISH.
