I agree this show seems to be particularly good, especially Julian's voice. I think part of the reason is because they wanted to hold their own against The Killers, who played the following night.
If you mean live, then yeah me too. But I don't think this tops his 2001-2 form or his 2005-6 form. Julian's voice was just perfect for Is This It/early RoF live, and he got a lot better as a singer technically over the course of four years. Of course he's still very good and actually recovered a lot from his late 00's slump, but he's 37 now and age is starting to take a small toll.
theyve sobered up man theyre adults and some fathers, if they carried that act out they wouldve ended up completely burnt out. i dont need them 2 have claws i just want them to have a good time and make good music which is what it seems theyre doing
I'm not sure what year it was (relatively new Strokes fan here), possibly within the time frames you proposed, but his live performance of "The Modern Age" at Les Eurockeennes Festival was A+++, the most powerful I've heard his voice.
I got emotional when they recently released their new shit: thy're back! and I love it. In the studio they can still make the soundtrack to my life, however, it just seems like Jules is conflicted on a live stage. He should've stayed with the voidz where he could be his complex, distorted self.

Nicole Mera I'm so jealous! My friend managed to rush his way to like the 10th row while I was back near 40-50... still awesome but I bet the vibe of the crowd was even better up front.
Nicole Mera Sounds amazing. I would have done it but I had work that day. Got off early to take a bus to NYC only to barely make it on time. Pretty sad I missed most of Gov Ball Friday though

Ainda quero ir em um show deles THE STROKES !!!!!!!!.....lembro que ouvi muito e agora estou voltando a ouvir novamente, simplesmente amo !!!! JULIAN LOVE!!!!!
This is really an amazing Strokes concert...holy sh*t, they sound perfect...every song here is fkn awesome. And, these are not even all their best tracks...they could have chosen 20 other ones that are equally as good. Ya gotta love 'em. I wish they'd come to SF.
Nicole Mera The owners of the festival are working something out with the band on setting up a makeup date 😩 or potentially bring them back for next year, who knows
This was my first Strokes show, a day after my birthday. When Julian asked, “What if you start making sweet ‘L’ at 10 PM?” (12:12), a few drunk guys behind me said, “Wait...‘L’? Are we 9??” He’s a father, so I’m guessing the raw rock star attitude momentarily crossed wires with parental censorship. Just a funny reaction from the night not captured on camera. It's kind of cool, how nowadays his interactions with the crowd periodically turn fatherly and cautious.
I'm dissapointed for the lack of ''newer songs'' in their concerts, Angles is, in my opinion, their best album and Comedown Machine is equally remarkable, I'd love to hear Machu Picchu or Partners in Crime live, anyway, they're great and it's good to have them back
I agree, but they decided as a group not to play Comedown Machine, since is their worst album it's like a dissapointment (I think its a "meh" album). As far as Angles goes I genuinely don't know why they didn't play anymore songs besides "Under Cover of Darkness".
you're right. i feel the same way. like life is simple in the moonlight, gratisfaction, games... i would love to hear those more. ALSO call it fate, call it karma and chances are two of their BEST songs ever written and they're off of comedown
Very nice to see he’s finally learning to master this amazing voice of his. Give him another ten years and he'll switch between sonorous control and the old mindless blearing in the blink of an eye. Now all it takes is for him to grow actual brains to make him one the greatest musicians of all time.
When Julian first sang I was amazed at how great he sounded compared to his voice in other recent concerts. He somehow managed to find the trick though!
Wow! están tocan muchas canciones del First Impressions Of Earth después de que las tenían un poco olvidadas en giras pasadas, ojalá pronto se animen con Vision of Division y con la que a mi parecer es la mejor canción de todos los discos: Ize Of The World
The only thing that sucks about Strokes Concerts is that they don't have enough time to play their entire discography
they had a 105 minute timeslot but came on 20ish min late
being late for them it´s like a tradition
its not like they were going to play for an extra 20 minutes anyways @@TXPHILLYPHAN
