  • Did you know that the Mass is a real sacrifice? That it's not just something we get, but something we give? What are the fruits or effects of the Mass on us, the faithful?
There are many beautiful truths about the Mass that we don't know (or forget), but Br. Michelangelo is here with Fr. Mark-Mary today to share and remind us of 4 of them.
    0:00 Why go to Mass?
0:33 The Mass is a re-presentation of the sacrifice of Christ
1:59 The Mass is something that we give, not just get
2:50 We are all called to participate in the Mass
4:10 The Mass is fruitful and effective for us

As someone who fell away from the Church, and felt the emptiness of that estrangement, and who has recently returned to attend Mass regularly, I really appreciate this message. Thank you, Br. Michelangelo and Fr. Mark, for reiterating the importance of the Mass for those of us who have forgotten or minimized its significance. The Eucharistic celebration often appears so sanitized and beautifully ceremonial that we lose sight of the profound sacrifice that is at the heart of the Mass. The more we ponder the loving sacrifice that is at the heart of the Eucharistic celebration, we go from seeing the Mass as just an onerous obligation to something we should yearn for.

I am experiencing the same thing in regards to daily mass. I felt led to give up going for Lent as my motivation seemed off. It was more about which church I should go to due to where I could go shopping afterwards. It used to be a longing and nothing could get in my way. I still haven't gotten back to going as I feel my motives are not what they should be. 😢

@@barbarafenton1775 I’ve been told directly, by a priest, that the desire to attend Mass has to start somewhere, even if that means my only reason for going right now is to fulfill the obligation. I liken this to the concept of “fake it till you make it.” I’m not sure if I can even do that. If God can see into my heart, He wouldn’t like what He sees.

I suggested to a priest once, that Holy Mass is the wedding ceremony of the people with Christ. Consider all of the components of a traditional Jewish wedding, like at Cana, and how it compares with the Holy Mass, coupled with the whole Passion narrative. When I think of Mass in THIS way...golly! No god has EVER BEEN, NOR EVER WILL BE as IN LOVE with us as through Jesus, our One True God with the Father and the Holy Spirit! 🙏

A very good point. God IS Love. While the ruler of this world seeks to destroy love & goodness of any kind, the good good Father waits for his prodigal child with open arms. Not only is he the waiting dad, scripture says Jesus is the Bridegroom waiting for his bride. Revelation 21. Can’t wait!

Attending a Catholic Mass is like being invited to The Last Supper with Jesus and His apostles. Jesus said the first Mass and told them to continue it until He returns. When the Priest blesses the bread & wine, they transform into The Body & Blood of Jesus Christ; this is The Transubstantiation. This only occurs in a Catholic or Orthodox Mass. Receiving Jesus in Holy Communion is the most beautiful, powerful & intimate union we can have with Him while on earth. We become one with Him. Beautiful Faith! 1 Cor11:23-29,Jn 6:51-59
Jesus said He’s the living bread, the bread He gives is His FLESH, unless we eat His Flesh & drink His Blood, WE WILL HAVE NO LIFE IN US.If we eat & drink of Him UNWORTHILY, WE WILL BE LIABLE & BRING A SENTENCE AGAINST OURSELVES FOR NOT DISCERNING IT TO BE THE BODY & BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST, OUR GOD & SAVIOR.

FYI…The olfactory receptor easily tires out so you should only notice smells for a short time before your receptors exhaust themselves and you will no longer notice.

All came from God’s Foreknowledge, beginning with Jesus (Proverbs 8:22-36):
God IS eternity. Everything in this world was with God in all eternity within His foreknowledge. God brought forth Jesus first, making him God’s only begotten Son - the only one created by God’s hands *alone.* God then placed all power and spirit into the hands of Jesus, who created the heavens and the earth. Together, they made the trees, animals, etc. They made mankind in their image and likeness of Father and Son (Genesis 1:26), for all things that belong to God will be in heaven (Isaiah 11:6-9). God also created Satan, who will spend all eternity apart from God along with his servants.
All things existed in the foreknowledge of God’s infinite mind and will exist forever. Amen.
