Hua was very well trained at the music Academy for a few years. He once said that he rejected part of the singing techniques because he felt it can't convey his emotions perfectly. So he chose to sing in his own way. He didn't mind that it would make him only sing until the age of 40. He is a perfectionist. In fact, he often sings nearly 30 songs in a row at each of his concert including a lot of powerful rock songs. He is incredible. I appreciate him very much. What I like Hua Chenyu the most is he is "rebel" to the vocalist play book in order to convey the story and the emotions in the way he wants to be conveyed. He breaks his voices and screams at times in some of master pieces to generate the emotional effects he wants, most notably in "Fake Monk". He is an unconventional story teller with a screen writer, a stage director and a character wrapped in one. His stage setting, costume, hand and body movement are all parts of the story telling. A lot of people compare him to Dimash. It is comparing apples to oranges. I am fan of Dimash from his superior vocal ability perspective. Hua Chenyu's vision, creativity, and ability to connect with his audience is second to none. I am sure he can be a successful theater musical director or even a movie director if he wants to be.
A lot of vocal coaches don’t like him, because he doesn’t go by the ‘textbook’ even his own past teachers he had questioned him. Especially when he uses his distortion voice, he is willing to use him voice to the extreme to express a song the way he wants. A lot vocal coaches are against it when it damages your voice, but he knows clearly what he is doing and what the consequences are. In this performance you won’t see that of course, but still see he uses a lot of different techniques, also a thing that I noticed is when he sings a high or long note he rolls up his tongue 😂 and the nasal part you noticed well, these ‘subtle’ things he put in. He opens up later in the song for an effect. As the beginning of the song he sings like he is holding back. I really love him, he has weird techniques he KNOWS about. He really does things he want, he literally has a documentary called “The Disapproved Idol”. He has a lot of styles and is also famous for his quick and amazing rearranging of songs. You’ll see more amazing performances of him, especially on Singer 2018
Yeah, I've seen him telling the background singer to "don't use your beautiful voice, just scream it out, or i cant feel it" the night before he performs the nunchucks song
Hua Hua, as the fans call him, is not aiming to be the best vocalist. I like the fact that you noticed the simple chord progression as he believes that the voice and emotion comes out much more when the background music is serving the song and not the other way around. I tend to believe that he is making things more difficult for him so he can express more emotion and not because he doesn't have the knowledge on how to do it by the "textbook". I'm not really sure if this is relevant to what you're saying about his singing technique but Hua Hua did mention before that his singing technique is a bit different from the textbook singing techniques because he doesn't feel that some of the 'proper scientific' way of singing would allow him to perform his music that he wants to convey so he repelled against it even though his teacher critiqued him for it, telling him it was the 'wrong' way to sing. But anyways, thank you for reacting to him, and even though I don't understand some of the professional analysis you're giving ('cause I have no singing background) but I find it really interesting to listen to. He’s actually on the newest season of Singer, singer 2020. It’s a highly renowned competition that happens once a year in China where the best of the best singers are invited to participate in a competition. He was on the show in 2018 as well I believe and he won second place with Jessie J winning first place. As of now, he’s doing extremely well in the 2020 season.

Although we know that his singing skills are not perfect, he can make a song perfect, his emotion can sing to our hearts. I was really attracted by his singing at first, but gradually I fell in love with his views and thoughts on his music, his original music. The show only allows singers to sing two of their own original songs, which of course is only for 2018. He sang two original songs here, and he made a splendid adaptation of the other songs. I've even seen other reactors react to the original song and the song he adapted and post interesting analyses. I'd love to see you react and analyze more about his other performance in this show, he's a rock singer at heart, and his original was extraordinary. The trouble is that recently the show seems to have started paying attention to the issue of video copyright, and I think you need to be careful too. He did a lot of epic performances in Singer 2018, and now he is doing the same in Singer 2020..in between a lot of good concerts and TV shows... there is a very large treasure to dig into! Rock, rap, ballads whatever he is very versatile. If you are going further try to Nunchucks where is showing a little bit of everything (Singer 2018) or Jackdaw Boy (Singer 2020-)- or anything in between will be good. Right now I am really hooked on Contra in the Wild (Singer 2020 eng subs)

His tongue pulling back is his signature haha. I've seen many of his performance when that tongue is just rebellious. Must be a technique he mastered. Hua Chenyu’s vocal range is definitely amazing! Besides actual cpop and traditional styles of Chinese music, Hua Chenyu and Zhou Shen are, in my opinion, some of the most iconic artists from China. xD
Hua Hua did not write this song. He did rearrange it for this performance though and his version is quite a bit different from the original. You might as well get used to his poor tongue placement if you are going to watch more of his video's. It is the way he likes to sing and he prefers his tongue pulled back and stiff over forward and relaxed. He feels that he sings better this way and he is not concerned about maintaining his voice into old age. He has said many times that he would rather give the performances he wants to now and retire early than compromise and still be performing at an old age. He is currently 30 years old and is China's biggest singing star at the moment. He regularly sells out 3 night events at the 95,000 seat Birds Nest stadium in Beijing and all three nights sell out in under 5 minutes (I agree, China must have a big ticket scalping problem). He mentors/coaches up and coming singers on 3 of China's many reality music shows throughout the year as well. In other words, he is already set with money so retiring early and buying a house by the ocean so he can fish everyday sounds pretty good to him.

Fist i wanna start with how perfectly disec, if i can use this term, his vocal technics. Nice reaction. Second, i want to to mention, that in Mandarin, the language he is singing in , have very specific pronunciation of some vowels. For example qi,xi, ci are pronounce with almost closed mouth , when only your teeth are shown to make that specifi squicky/ buzzing sound, with your tongue touching your palet. About nazels, in chinese, syllable language, most of which ends either with vowel or n/ng, which gives this offten nazel sound. This is his second song after he joins in the show in the 3rd round. Just because Jessie was so overwelming all the competition, winning the first two rounds. So they decided to put him in inorder for her to have a competion. Firs song he perform is called "Qi tian" or in English "Equal to haven". You need to react to it, as its very good mixture. You will be very surprised of his tallent and what he can do.

His tongue pulling back is his signature haha. I've seen many of his performance when that tongue is just rebellious. Must be a technique he mastered. He would stretch his jaw down to the maximum just to get the desired sound. Love him to bits. BTW, don't silence the "H" in his name Hua. Say it like hoo-wah quickly.

@@oscarcallahan159 I'm a huge Dimash fan as well been to two of his concerts. However, I am also a huge Hua Chenyu fan. He is amazing. Not only his voice is incredible but his composing and rearranging of songs is out of this world. He is a genius. Listen to his other songs. I particularly like : Mayfly, Madhouse, Aliens, Contra ... all of them lol
Hua Chenyu’s vocal range is definitely amazing! Besides actual cpop and traditional styles of Chinese music, Hua Chenyu and Zhou Shen are, in my opinion, some of the most iconic artists from China. xD

Hua Hua did not write this song. He did rearrange it for this performance though and his version is quite a bit different from the original. You might as well get used to his poor tongue placement if you are going to watch more of his video's. It is the way he likes to sing and he prefers his tongue pulled back and stiff over forward and relaxed. He feels that he sings better this way and he is not concerned about maintaining his voice into old age. He has said many times that he would rather give the performances he wants to now and retire early than compromise and still be performing at an old age. He is currently 30 years old and is China's biggest singing star at the moment. He regularly sells out 3 night events at the 95,000 seat Birds Nest stadium in Beijing and all three nights sell out in under 5 minutes (I agree, China must have a big ticket scalping problem). He mentors/coaches up and coming singers on 3 of China's many reality music shows throughout the year as well. In other words, he is already set with money so retiring early and buying a house by the ocean so he can fish everyday sounds pretty good to him.

in Singer 2020, most of the songs are composed by him.
Fist i wanna start with how perfectly disec, if i can use this term, his vocal technics. Nice reaction.
Second, i want to to mention, that in Mandarin, the language he is singing in , have very specific pronunciation of some vowels. For example qi,xi, ci are pronounce with almost closed mouth , when only your teeth are shown to make that specifi squicky/ buzzing sound, with your tongue touching your palet. About nazels, in chinese, syllable language, most of which ends either with vowel or n/ng, which gives this offten nazel sound.
This is his second song after he joins in the show in the 3rd round. Just because Jessie was so overwelming all the competition, winning the first two rounds. So they decided to put him in inorder for her to have a competion.
Firs song he perform is called "Qi tian" or in English "Equal to haven". You need to react to it, as its very good mixture. You will be very surprised of his tallent and what he can do.
