This conversation was phenomenal!! Thank you for tackling a hard topic. After 30 years of marriage we’ve reached our hardest moments!! My husband lost his job and cascaded into a deep depression. ( our marriage had been shaky for some time prior to that) He completely rejected me. I was a stay at home mom with our 6 children. I was not opposed to working but he wanted me home and at the same time making money. I had to do some deep inner work by the grace of God and give room for him to find his way. It’s been 4 years, all the children are out of high school. I’m happily working and doing what I love. I was counseled to leave by many but what held me is what one of the ladies said -“Did I know that he was the one for me from the beginning?” The answer is yes! Therefore I will stay no matter what. I am finding my happiness because it’s not dependent upon him. Slowly but surely he is finding his way again. We live in the same home but separate. I’m still believing that by Gods grace our marriage will be restored and that we will be “jubileed”( I think that’s the term you used).
I just love your frank honest open conversations from an African perspective! I’m from the Caribbean and married to a Nigerian. My expectations were the story book, movie, eurochristian ones. I had to search the word of God and dig deep to discover that the real thing is very different. I have a promise in God’s word that says that “ love never fails” so my quest is to discover what that looks like as to how I’m to demonstrate that. How does one live 1 Cor. 13: 4-8
I love you all ladies! I wish to host conversations like these one day on my own channel. You’ve inspired me!!
    Blessings!

Not yet married but in my mind it's registered that it's forever not because of the excitement of having to be married but because I have see people who have kugumad and right now they're enjoying the fruits of their struggles and the ones that decided to leave are kinda finding it very hard to get back into that space that they had before. Girls ladies women as long as it's not life threatening please give it time.

What Aggie said just reminder me of my late step dad. This gental man came into our lives when I was 12yrs. But he had been single for a very long time. But when he got my mom all he wanted was a friend. So when Aggie says old age needs a friend. To the both of them their friendship was more than any thing. He died so happy. To point when he did I felt so bad for my mom because she had lost her friend

This was very emotional to watch but good. Thanks ladies. We need a part 2 to also show the good things about marriage, those situations you feel you wouldn't have made through without your husband. Tell the good stories too ...why we love these men even if they hurt us in one way or the other. Let's hear someone talk about staying for the man even before staying for the children. I think we need to celebrate such men too.

Life is too short to be unhappy!! I am on Pumula’s side. Leave. My parents stayed for the kids (and societal image) but sleep in separate rooms for the past 15 years and counting of a 40 year marriage 🤷🏾‍♀️
I just got married and me and my husband talked about our “no’s” that are an automatic divorce during our courtship. No questions asked. Divorce.

It was a nice conversation. Adding on what Angie said, one of the partners has to lead the way and hold fort and fortunately, it encourages the other partner to work on themselves. I am speaking from a place of having seen my mother do it and my Dad with time realized he didn't want to be left behind. So unless it's life threatening, then try to preserve your marriage. Even after you have left , the next person you get, there will be work to be done. And more so prayer works, include the big man up there and He will reward you with beautiful things.

I find myself repeatedly drawn to watching this specific episode for some reason.Your authenticity and honesty shine through, making it incredibly relatable. It's striking how the issues that trigger conflicts in relationships and or marriage seem to remain consistent overtime..Personally ,i dentify most with Angie's "Love dovey" personality. It's effortless for me to be swayed back if there's sincere apology accompanied by positive actions and genuine remorse.

Loved the conversation. I decided to take marriage as a journey , and since I know not what to always expect, I decided to take with me the one who holds the keys to All unknown and I am glad I did today is my wedding anniversary. Been doing life with my man for 17 years. Work towards thriving and not surviving. That has been and is my goal. Just like we work at many things we need to work at our marriages.
And Angie said it well, Old age needs a partner.

These habits we do see happening now the fact is they must have given a warning before but we really tend to ignore just because we are in love. And if you kept ignoring up to the state of not having option then you will continue leaving in a hurt and you will term it perseverance.
We need to sort out issues when they come. Let's say first time you forgive, second time, you forgive third time you forgive, the fourth round it's already become a habit so it's upon you to decide whether to continue and persevere and accept him the way he is or not.
But as you are persevering those habits shouldn't be the reason of your annoyance in the marriage. I do personally bet this so called okuguma is living an unhappy life in marriage for the sake of the children.
Tell me when this man will think of sharing love with you having come back at 2 or 4am. This is a total separation indirectly.

I am a huge advocate of happiness. Harm and life-threatening situations aside, if in my deepest of hearts i do not feel happy being with you and i do not see change in the near future, i will still choose me and my happiness and walk away. I do not think God intended for marriage to be miserable.

I will leave mubitiibwa, and actually it is because of the children that I will leave, just to show them that it is not okay to be abused by another person. Besides, research has proven that staying in a DV relationship harms the children more than leaving.

Thanks, ladies for such a great episode. The conversation was authentic and very interesting. I am definitely with the “Kuguma” team. Marriage is not easy; that is why it requires commitment and staying to keep the family unit intact is worth it, but it calls for selflessness because you have to put yourself last. As Rachel said, looking inward to focus on what you can do to improve your situation before looking at what you expect your partner to do for you is an excellent place to start.

Thank u team bump love, steadily loving and learning from each of u, I can relate with most of your situations but one thing I know is that woman out there if u have God at the center of your marriage, trust me it's only a matter of time, (how long u can wait on God) , and the victory will b yours. The devil hates to see a happy family n is at work. It's always been God for me. Pray for your families alongside the counseling.

Ladies am impressed by your honest conversations and truly if many couples out there can listen to your testmonies their families can shrive all through hard times. OKUGUMA is likened to the Bibilical promise of GOD in Isaiah 43:2 that no matter what you go through He will always be with us. in God's wisdom He brings different people to meet each other for a purpose of unity, peace, respect and collaboration among societies and initially Love sets in and grows all through to diffeerent ways but true love will always preavail. The devil howver preaches a diffrent msg and we have to be careful whom we listen to

@Manuela you wrapped the show up well! Make the sole decision to marry the person you say you want to marry, and be okay with it. Also it is not a commandment to get married, so take your time before you make the decision, marriage is a very big step to take in li fe.

Debating such hard and personal things in our homes with friends is easy. But here on a platform with an audience you don't see is HARD. This was a brave episode. Thank you for getting into it and leaving no stone unturned. This is one of those conversations where we could talk all day... I will agree with Angie-Growing old alone is not proggie, I can tell you that for free. 😆
Also marriage is a beautiful challenge because it is the one place that forces you (if you allow it) to deal with your 'bu'things and after that parenting then highlights any pending things you may not have addressed. And I agree with Rachael's approach to invest in looking inward because after all you're the only thing you can control in the marriage and everything else you report to God.
As I grow I realize that despite my commitment to marriage and staying, it is brave 💪to stay, and it is brave to leave as well for those that choose to.
Pumla you did a stellar job moderating this discussion 👏Thank you

I am seriously falling in love with you ladies. My take is, don't stay for the kids. They see through the dysfunction. Its even worse when you have a daughter, it can negatively shape the woman she becomes in future especially coping with toxic men.

I surely enjoy watching Bump Love episodes, I live for them. Thank you ladies for sharing your experiences in their rawness. I could relate with Pumla about some kiganda marriages discouraging us from marriage. Our mothers are surely the necks that move those heads, they carry the biggest burden, they behold the POWER in disguise and from the background. We grow and we evolve!
As far as gummaring, May God give us the Grace and also enable us to extend it to our partners🙏
May wicked/evil men not happen to us🙏

I enjoyed this conversation tremendously!! Very difficult topic. You laughed & made me laugh. I've lived in the US for over 50 years; but originally from Panama, of Caribbean descent. I realized in this conversation that we are all the same. What makes us whole ultimately in our ability to take our eyes off the storm. That's what caused Peter to start sinking...But God!!!
