The Shaky Essence of Modern Cryptography

  • Modern cryptography hinges on the existence of solvable mathematical puzzles which we hope others are too dumb to solve efficiently. Innovative cryptography is based on the assumption that our attackers lack an innovative spirit. If we (so smart as we are) think a problem is hard, then our adversaries (dumb as they are) will surely be frustrated by it. This is the shaky essence of our cyber security. Unproven mathematical intractability underlies our national security, supports financial transmissions, is foundational in crypto currencies. This video highlights this inconvenient fact, and points to a strategic solution: quantum grade randomness (to be elaborated on in the next lesson).

I only buy organic locally grown gluten free quantum randomness.

Thanks Gideon! But how to implement digital signatures without NP-complete tasks? The signature is by definition, something that difficult to calculate without secret value - witness, but easy to verify. It's practically a definition of NP-complete task

Well said, Mihail, private/public keys per se require 'shaky' mathematical complexity. But we can provide their services otherwise. We developed "BitMeet" to allow two strangers to establish privacy in a hostile environment, based on the original Merkle concept (see video), and other services we base on dynamic identity. For non critical applications, mathematical intractability is still useful. See more in BitMintNews Medium blog, and in www.BitMint.com

Gideon has a video about the randomness that allows 2 strangers to communicate securely. ua-cam.com/video/jKpkM7Zeb6U/v-deo.html
