@J Co university of san carlos is the oldest school but not the oldest university. santo tomas became a university in 1611 long before san carlos was promoted as university in 1867 from just a college known before as colegio de san ildefonso:-)

Cody J.......UST is the oldest university in continuum. USC was closed in the 1700's then it operated once again. while UST ever since its establishment has been in operation until today.. so it doesn't matter if the Spanish came to visayas before reaching Manila.. it's about UST as the oldest University in Asia....I hope you learned something today.

Imagine going to school during the time na wala pang internet, no cellphones and wala pang Windows ang mga computer. Any paper that needs to be submitted were still done through typewriters. And lahat naka-pila to use the public payphones located sa lobby ng bawat building. Namimiss ko yung mga araw na yon.
