They would later defeat the Trailblazers on the road, the only team to beat the Celtics at home.

@@tommychew6544 It was magical. Boston Garden was the second greatest basketball arena of all time behind only the vaunted MSG. They don’t make arenas like that anymore. I definitely feel that the '86 Celtics were the best team in history. They had a starting 5 that was hands down the best starting five in the history of the game. The teamwork, and how they knew each other so well. Just amazing, and the bench was really good. In contrast, the Lakers I always said had a team of ten starters. When the Lakers ran, they never stopped and had replacements for everyone that would be a starter on any other team. that's why the Celtic / Laker rivalry was so awesome. But, and the end of the day, I give the best team of all time to the '86 Celtics.

I watched as many of those 86 Boston games as I could, which was few and far between, TV was all we had back then so until you got to the playoffs you had to rely on network sports casters on the evening news for a team so far away. I was in the USMC stationed on the west coast and all you could catch out there was Lakers games and whoever they were playing if it was even on TV, and those were mostly weekend games.

46-4 first fifty games, celtics win 11th straight if not for 67 sixers, and this video highlights passing
But thr passing Chamberlain was doing in the post that year was unseen or unheard of, the big dipper was already a monster scorer, rebounder, shot blocker but his game reached new heights when he added passing to his skill set...walker and Jackson was a tough pair at forward, jackson better on defense walker better on offense both strong on the boards
Greer/wali jones combo was lethal in the backcourt and was on full display in nba finals against warriors and billy Cunningham was a nightmare match-up coming off the bench (bytheway great video keep up the good work)

Kind of hard to argue with the 86 Celtics lineup that had 5 future Hall of Famers in it, because despite how you play, it's still a team sport. They moved the ball so fast that the cameras often didn't catch up with it. Who is the GOAT? There should just be a short list of the greatest teams and leave it at that. Pick your top 5 teams and it doesn't matter in what order, or in what year. I was a Bucks fan back then, but I slowly lost interest in the Pro game as it morphed into what it is today.

40-1 at home insane - have to agree if the enter playoff finals with home court advantage, its in the bank with a clutch player like bird not letting that game slip away. I agree they match up very well vs west/chamberlain, the best of the spurs, even bulls because of their size and DJ wouldn’t let Michael go for for 50 every game. Pippin would be a tough matchup

Not sure if your old enough or knowledgeable enough to know about the 67 sixers but that team in my humble opinion would be number one or two next to 86 celtics...sixers was 46-4 first fifty games that year and celtics win 11th straight if it wasn't for 67 sixers...I have 83 sixers, 87 lakers and 96 bulls to round out my top five, respectively none of the millennium championship teams Crack my top five!!! (Rodman already stated that there were better teams in eighties than 96 bulls and thou I like them there biggest liability would have been at center with luc Longley, 83 Moses malone or 86 parrish/walton combo would have been to much for bulls to overcome)

Definitely the '86 Celts were the best team in history. I have to laugh at these 90's Bulls fans who are delusional - the 80's Celtics (and Lakers for that matter) would mop the floor with Jordan's Bulls. Ironically, I think the only team in history who could have given this Celtics team a tough game would be the '83 Sixers. They had the post players to compete with Boston's greatest front line. But alas, in the end, they wouldn't have been able to deal with the Bird/Walton duo and the overwhelming talent the Celts had - team full of HOF's. Just wish they would have kept Max and still acquired Walton. And don't get me started about what the addition of Len Bias' would have meant beyond '86. Add Reggie Lewis a couple of years later and keep that team intact and it would have been the 60's all over again. (For a point of reference, imagine what would have become of the Lakers without James Worthy).
