I was born in 64, the progress we witnessed in HK was nothing short of a miracle. The challenges, the community spirits to overcome and excel, and a whole generation of educated work forces created are something everyone involved should be proud of.
All these nostalgia photos bring back my childhood memories. I was too young to appreciate our cultures at the time I was in HK. I almost forgot those theaters, Star ferry, daily buses route to and from school, no traffic light era. Gosh, thanks for sharing all these valuable 1960 photos gallery with us.
Thank you. I found this a few years late but what a joy to be able to see the precious moments captured in these pictures. Especially at 3:21, I can see the building that I spent the first few years of my life in. I watched the Victoria Park being built. Thank you for posting them.

I was in Hong Kong during 1963 when I was 13 at that time and stayed there with my eldest uncle for 2 months and almost want to live there if not of my other uncle who wanted me to go back to Malaysia with him . Today my eldest uncle has passed on 17 years ago and his children are some of the most wealthiest in Kowloon and Shenzhen
I was there between the 50's and the 60's and experienced the days in those years with the rest of the HK people. They were very hard working people living in a peaceful world without political pressure. One step at a time under the Queen Elizabeth the II 🇬🇧 built the Pearl of the Orient , the Hong Kong . ❤👍🏻🙏 😎☕️🍰🥮
To Mr Kwok, not exactly, the 50s are marked by labor dispute. The 60s and early 70s were marked by corruption and natural challenges and not until late 70s there were improvements such as establishment of ICAC and construction of reservoir to deal with the ever increase in water demand. Internationally, HK was in the shadow of cultural revolution and then Vietnam conflict with the influx of refugees/boat people. Did you know that HK was known Internationally as high drug trafficking area. On the better side, HK did established and became a international financial power house even thought manufacturing industry was dwindling and factories was moving to China. However, there are still some good manufacturers in HK such as one of the two small motor companies in the world that supply all the motors for appliances.

以前生活環境大家差不多，教育程度不髙，人家為生活努力耕耘，營造了一片樂土，反觀現代物質富足，擁高等教育多如沙石，反而把香港攪到烏煙樟氣，唉！
