Poor trees..... quite bleak but nature will renew... as the song goes, it's so nice to go travelling but oh so nice to come home.... I used to travel a lot.... but always loved that first cup of tea when I got home...
A tornado - rare here - struck near San Francisco. We experienced winds gusting up to 90mph and trees are down. Some trees were over 100 feet tall. My suburb lost power because a downed tree took the power line with it. The chainsaw gangs are being kept busy.
It's good to be among the trees againalthough they always seem a bit folorn with no leaves. In the town where I live, 90 trees were torn down by the storm, some across roads.Great that you lost some weight on holiday..its that eating less and moving more lifestyle. When I used to walk my daughter's dog I lost weight over two weeks..They say walk the dog everyday to lose weight even if you don't have a dog 😊
It makes you realize how strong the winds were. It's better they came down in the storm and not on someone's head. A nice potato and leek sounds good. Not a soup person myself but I do see the benefit especially on a cold damp day. Great 7lbs lost Sean. When I was unable to drive and had to walk everywhere for nine months I lost 2 st. And felt all the better for it. Have a good day. Don't forget the plumber is coming too 😃🤗
Bora da Sean..Really enjoyed todays walk through the woods on the mountain especially the soundtrack to the drone footage. Get that soup on and enjoy 😊
Good to see you out taking in the Scenery ,them view's never get old .And seeing you on the live stream making your next video , it's like having a glimpse into the future 😊
This Tea Advent Calendar has become the feature of Vlogmas in the Valley, I love it. Actually, peppermint and fennel sounded appealing. 🥰🥰 Loved that you are back home, and the walkabout was quite interesting. Take care and look forward to tomorrow's catch up.
Homemade minestrone soup, onions, peppers, garlic, chop and saute in olive oil, the add can of tomatoes and canellone beans, puree and leave to simmer, the l add broken up spaghetti, once the spaghetti is cooked l make croutons and have it topped with grated cheese. Most people put on weight on holiday so well done Sean on losing some pounds!
Great walk, so much damage. Cauliflower and cheddar soup or broccoli and Stilton soup are both delicious. For both soups cook veg and potatoes in a pan with water, when cooked drain water into a jug. Add veg and potatoes to blender with the cheese and a bit of the water. I always put back in saucepan as my blender is small so have to blend 2 lots. Use any spare water to get thickness you want and season to taste. I put potato in my soup as it's a thickener. Freeze in boxes xx
Spicy butternut squash Fry onion in a knob of butter Add couple cloves of garlic make sure not to burn Add cubed butternut squash Add 3 birds eye chopped chillies Add about pint and a half water and chicken stock pot or veg . When squash is soft blend . If not thick enough add a cornflour and water thickening Delicious x x
Lovely walk Sean 😊. Great vlog as usual. Really enjoying these advent vlogs etc.At least one of the trees down there had all its roots showing😢. Yrs planting more trees would be great 😃👍.
Morning Sean, out in the fresh air. I used too love the smell of log fires burning when staying in Wales, evokes so many happy memories. It's so sad to see the trees down. Well done on your weight loss. Almost thought no teabag, but thank goodness yes! What will we do at the end of the calendar?. Thank you for vlog as and the lovely walk.🐞
wow beautiful walking in the woods, soups..umm.. the best is Leek and Potato, and if you grow carrots, carrot and ginger soup is awesome, those were the 2 that I do every year, as I grow those vegetables. haven't tried to grow ginger yet, not sure how too.
Love the tea calendar plus the faces you make Enjoyed the walk pity about the trees good to have handymenn to clean up Love from Oz gets to 38 celcius here and 90%humidity. Tenerife was a lovely break, pity about the train but you got home saftely.😊
I have kept myself from saying anything about Pukka teas and just enjoyed your take on them with a giggle. For some reason I could not help myself today. Pukka tea are medicinal teas. The combinations have specific medicinal values. Just an FYI, although a hat could be involved. ✌
Truffle hunting may keep the walking. Hopefully you won't have time for holiday blues, I suffered a bit as didn't like cooking again. My heart dropped when I saw the homestead, like you said the free wood may give you the opportunity to make cains or a raised bed. Caffeine in tea is higher than coffee which doesn't help with weight loss, something to think about, potatoes and leek soup is a wholesome soup and free in abundance for you. Chin up xx
I remember the great storm of 87 driving to work in Kingston, Surrey. Past Hampton court and the long road of Bushy Park, seeing loads of old Henry lllV oaks uprooted. It made me so sad to think they had been there so long and overnight whoosh, that's it 😢
Old news, butt! The 'wall' has been down for years - since the days it was the coal yard. Take a walk up the Rhigos - many trees have been snapped alongside the road.
l forgot to add to my minestrone soup recipe bellow, if you fry some small bacon pieces when frying the onions it makes it extra tasty, l also add a bay leaf, which l remove later, and l add dried Italian herbs.
I have to say Sean, you have gotten me addicted to Yorkshire tea. Problem is, it's hard to find here in Northern Ontario, and it's frightfully expensive. Shhh, I still buy a few bags once in a while for a treat anyway. It's boodiful!!
Nice walk today if your using slow cooker I am cooking ham potatoes and veg. Was looking or scrolling down the video numbers and came across Rusty's face between numbers 12 and 13 what a gorgeous face.
What a yucky mixture in that tea bag. Nettles…..give me a break. Better day tomorrow. Thanks for the walk about. That storm really left it’s mark. Sad to see so many trees down. These wind storms play havoc on our forests and parks here on the West Coast of BC Canada. Then add in the heavy rain and we have mud slides down the mountainous areas and homes are destroyed. Mother Nature can play harsh and destructive games !!
For your soup maker: Already chopped up Sweet Potato and Butternut from Waitrose in the machine with a stock cube and a bit of onion, top up with water to max limit in machine. I push the blend button on mine and soup’s ready in 20 - 25 mins. Does your’s have a keep warm function after it’s finished its process? Enjoyed your walk today - thanks.
Hi Sean, thank you for taking us along on your walk, as sad as it is to see some of the older trees had fallen, they'll make way for the new saplings as you say, it's all part of nature. Fantastic drone footage btw. I bet you were glad you had your nice new padded coat on and I loved the colour of your new hat. 👍🏻👌 Well, we had one day of sun here in Norfolk on Saturday other than that it's been very grey and cloudy, tomorrow (Weds) is going to be 14c!! 😃 But very windy!!🙄 Yes, that was certainly an interesting combination re your festive tea, I couldn't have drunk that! Ah Early Grey next that's your reward for suffering all the others! 😅 See you tomorrow!
Afternoon Sean Shame about the trees coming down, but like you said it's a natural occurrence,I'm curious whether the trees with the root system still intact could be replanted again or would they have gone into shock? I'm sure the birds in the area will be harvesting the twigs from the branches for shoring up their nests with over winter ❄️ I think the most obvious soup that comes to mind is leek and potato as you are still growing them on the homestead, but I don't know whether you have them earmarked for your Christmas dinner! 😂 Take care Sean 💜
New puffer looks comfy. Hat and coat were maybe a useful buy, even tho u hadn't planned to get a new coat in Tenerife. Its hard to go back to cooking for yrself after a break where food is all provided. Perhaps your slow cooker might b useful too, so u come back to a lovely meal & not much faff.
Nice to see you back on the mountain. Liked the drone footage, certainly some clearing up to do. Liked the music especially as i had earphones on while i was watching. 😊
Do you think that once they finish cutting down all the trees it will become more windy and flooding will happen more often due to the lack of tree roots to hold everything back? Just wondering . Lovely video and glad to see you doing so well.
Beautiful scenery even in winter & with so many trees down. It would be good to come back home after your walk to some good home made soup like you said, or something in your slow cooker. I love a home made pea & ham soup with some crusty bread or chicken & vegetable. I also make a minestrone, but that takes me a while chopping everything. I usually do mine in the big pressure cooker pan & make plenty & freeze some for other days. I get reduced veg from the supermarket & once got 5 bags of broccoli for 20p each & made broccoli & stilton soup for £2.50 because the stilton was reduced too! You can use any cheese you like though. Carrot & coriander is another quite cheap soup to make. Sometimes I just make it up as I go along, depending what veg I have in & they can turn out to be the best soups, throwing in herbs & spices too😀
I have to tell you Sean, I tried the Yorkshire tea. I am in Erie, Pa USA . I ordered it on Amazon, and I must say ,it is wonderful! It will be my go to tea from now on. Thank you for your wonderful work.
Yes, you're right re Wales. It IS beautiful. It may not have as much sunshine as Tenerife, but I much prefer it. That forest walk, (despite the storm damage), filled me up. There's something mystical about Wales...
Enjoyed the walk, please be careful , Fallen branches can cause nasty skin gashes whilst walking past sometimes, as I know through past experience 🥴warm cuppa yorkshire brew now ❤
That Blue shirt you're wearing suits you well, looks comfortable too. Vlogmas and that tea advent calendar was a brilliant idea even though most weren't to your taste. I hope this will become a new Christmas tradition. It's been enjoyable and interesting.
Thank goodness for the private groups. Looks like they came through with a chainsaw to clear the path. (lost 7 pounds? Wow, most people gain weight on holiday)
Sean your puffer jacket and hat is perfect for your walling in winter. Lovely walk and good firewood for some in the future. Yes, lots of downed trees I don’t hear any birds on this walk. Did you hear any Sean? Even in winter you can find beautiful. Good job on the weight loss. Stage safe Sean and see you next time. ❤❤❤
i make 2 batches of soup for a client of mine once a week, his favorites are brocolli and stilton, tomatoe and bean, parsnip curry, mushroom and a curried lentil one. We've got most of the recipies from bbc good food as we googles soup maker soups so we got the right amounts for the soup maker. Also I use the marigold powdered vegetable bullion as it has a good flavour and doesnt overpower the veg
…..Just wanted to say the tea advent calendar as a base for your Christmas vlogs was a brilliant idea 😊
Poor trees..... quite bleak but nature will renew... as the song goes, it's so nice to go travelling but oh so nice to come home.... I used to travel a lot.... but always loved that first cup of tea when I got home...
Smart new hat and coat, looking fresh !
That coat looks very nice Sean 😊😊
love the music accompanying the drone footage Sean
Hi Sean, shame about the tree's, I hate to see tree's down, especially the old native one's,
Lovely walk, the forest got pruned back. Soups: chili, chicken noodle, tomato, or hamburger soup with potatoes and carrots. Cold weather, soups everyday.
The plant you thought was Japanese knotweed is, I believe, Himalayan Balsam ( Impatiens Glandulifera) which usually grows besides streams .
The woodland near Treherbert is still quite young. It will regenerate even better.
I remember when it was all coal tips.
A tornado - rare here - struck near San Francisco. We experienced winds gusting up to 90mph and trees are down. Some trees were over 100 feet tall. My suburb lost power because a downed tree took the power line with it. The chainsaw gangs are being kept busy.
Bore da Sean. What a beautiful place south wales and the valleys are,we’re truly blessed to be living in or near the area.🙏🫶✌️🏴

Besides the exercise, it's good for the mind and soul to take a walk to clear your head.
Very true!
Lovely atmospheric music to listen to whilst watching your walk!
Lovely walk-thanks.
Leek & potato is nice with cream.

@amandaroberts5111 I don't think that Minestrone is pureed usually ....or is this your personal twist ?
@@Cernunnos652 Tomato puree, tomato paste.
Everyone back to yours!! Sounds delicious.
@@Cernunnos652 Sorry l meant l add tomato puree, also Worcester sauce and lots of black pepper
Lovely walk Sean, sure that cleared the cobwebs. So many dead trees, just the odd green living tree 🌲
Hope you have a lovely Xmas sean❤

The oaks lasted longer than his wives. 😎
Enjoyed your walk. Must have been a bad storm with all those trees down.
That jacket really suits you Sean ❤
And the new red beanie
Celery soup is very refreshing Sean .
In West Wales the storm was much worse. Some communities lost their electric for five + days.
potato and leek soup..you have lots of leeks on your allotment.
Old news, butt! The 'wall' has been down for years - since the days it was the coal yard. Take a walk up the Rhigos - many trees have been snapped alongside the road.
Make a bonfire with that tea thing…
The tea 😂😂 omg 😳 they all sound atrocious and I think I can imagine the smell… your a braver man (or woman in my case ) than me gungading😂😂
Do the shed roof first. Any vegetables make a nice soup with a veg stock cube or oxo. You wouldn’t believe how much Yorkshire tea we drink 😂
Beautiful scenery.
Wales is beautiful. I like to do a potato and leek soup at this time of year. Filling and very warming.
l forgot to add to my minestrone soup recipe bellow, if you fry some small bacon pieces when frying the onions it makes it extra tasty, l also add a bay leaf, which l remove later, and l add dried Italian herbs.

I love a good bowl of split pea soup with the little potatoes and carrots and it delicious.
Loads of trees in my local park are down as well 👍👍😊🏴❤️
Nice walk today if your using slow cooker I am cooking ham potatoes and veg. Was looking or scrolling down the video numbers and came across Rusty's face between numbers 12 and 13 what a gorgeous face.
Thanks Sean lovely peaceful walk round the woodland. Nice to see trees instead of volcanoes 🌋 😂😉

Sean thought of you recently when a lady in Pennsylvania USA fell into a sinkhole from an old coal mine and died. Has that ever happened in your area?
Glad you were able to get out for a walk, not bad when you are dressed for the weather.
❤❤❤❤❤
French onion soup, you can't beat a bit of corned beef stew
🫖 cheers 🎄
Greetings from rhymney Curry parsnip and potato soups a cheap and easy one to try butty, it will definitely warm your cockles on a cold crisp day.
Fridge bottom soup. Any veg you have left at the end of the week, chuck it in the soup maker, saves waste and makes a good soup
Lovely walk with you Sean.
For you it has to be leek and potato soup known how you love leeks.carrot and herb.butternut is fantastic.

Got to be pea and ham
How about Leek soup...you've got some beautiful ones...maybe you could barter with the green grocer store trade a few leeks for a different veg...
