Yeah, when I saw the ad I knew it had to be a Singapore reference. I googled it and quickly found pck and the characters and it all made sense. It's funny how things don't translate between cultures but it's actually a very informative song that works within Singapore culture well.
I appreciate humor and advocacy within the disability community. I have been trying for YEARS to get a diagnosis for my many issues, and am unfortunately to the point I cannot work or make any real income. I'm mostly stuck at home but when i do go out people act like I'm too young or "healthy" to need mobility aids. It sucks having an invisible illness, but finding humor and other advocates is a huge help with educating people. Thank you for all you do!
I’m going to take a guess that you (like myself) don’t live somewhere that has any sort of universal health care. I have episodes where I need mobility assistance, but I am relatively young, and I am no stranger to the looks and comments from those who are ignorant (willfully or otherwise) to invisible disabilities. Humor is vital and I am forever thankful for Russell’s advocacy. 🥰

The people at the end of every episode that he highlights are always truly wonderful. Often they are about a sad theme like on tonight's show, but they always give such hope in a world that can be so dark. It's uplifting to see people genuinely caring about other people! The world needs more of that!

Regarding the woman who talked about god "separating the sheep from the goats", the huge irony that he didn't point out, is that in the gospel that she's quoting, it's the sheep who are saved. That's the whole point of that separation, the loyal, obedient sheep are saved, and the rebellious goats are sent for judgement. And you can tell she knows this by the way she hesitates, realizing that after all of her crowing about freedom and criticizing the "sheeple" who got the jab, she put herself on the wrong side of her own parable.

The curly haired dude is an iconic character from an old local sitcom who relates to lots of locals, young and old. Kind of like our own Monty Python person. So he's featured in many PSAs. I'm sure many people don't get it, cos he "sings/raps" in our local accent, our own brand of English, we call Singlish. A mish mash of English with local languages. In our defence, more than 80% of Singaporeans are vaxxed and the seniors have started their 3rd boosters already. Partly thanks to our trippy PSAs. Are they embarrassing? Yes.
