Sao Miguel Island was seriously one of the most magical places we've ever been! It is such a beautiful island and we'd love to return! Lisbon is a bit hectic and the trolley ride was like a roller coaster 😂 the kids got pretty wiped from all the walking too haha. Have you ever been to either places? Let us know what other places we should visit in our year of travel ❤
Sometimes old-school map reading is better! Especially when you're in cities that are that old. It makes you feel like a real explorer using a map vs GPS...
Wow beautiful country! Another one on the bucket list ! Also if we go to Portugal, we are sure to check out one of the football stadiums and get us a Cristiano Ronaldo jersey for a souvenir as we would with Messi if we go to Argentina😆 My hubby is eastern European (Romania) and he's a big football fan.
Yes Logan is a big football fan too he would have loved to attend a game! Even though from what I remember as kid in Europe football games get a bit craaazy haha but definitely an experience!!
Ponta Delgada looked beautiful! The botanical gardens took me back to when I was little and played outside all the time. Was communication an issue? Our cruises so far have been to countries where English is spoken in the ports, I wasn't sure how Portugal and other European stops were.
Close to port its generally not much of an issue as English is widely spoken (especially in tourist areas). When you get off the beaten path and to more local places, it can be more challenging. We try to learn basic phrases in each language and typically get by with that and some sign language 😅 The Google translate app on my phone helps a lot as well! You can take a picture of a menu or items in the grocery stores and it translates the words in the picture.
Hi Rick, great question! We are currently on summer break, but we will start homeschooling again in August! Our kids have been learning a ton from traveling though lots of life lessons and history. My dad will be bringing our books though in Bulgaria (we don't use very much computer for homeschooling) so we can start our book work again in August 😄
No, it was a very quick and simple process! You will need to submit pictures of your passports to Disney at check in. They clear customs for you with those. So you just scan your room key when leaving the ship on port days and that's it. Bring your passport to get back on board though! What ports do you stop at? That's sailing is from UK I think so port stops are probably different.
@@WorldFamilyExplorers we are leaving out of Southampton in England, stops are Vigo, Spain and Lisbon. Then we cross and go to Bermuda, and finish in New York! We have 3 little ones under 7 so the info from your videos is very helpful. Thanks for the response!
@kyleconductor so glad you found the videos helpful! You will have an amazing time! In Lisbon, there is an earthquake museum close to Port so if you don't feel like walking around much that day (it's a lot of hills so be warned 😅) that can be a fun alternative for the kids!
@kyleconductor and Bermuda!! What a great stop! It sounds like your stops are a bit more spread out which will be nice! Ours were all the second week pretty much back to back so it was a bit tiring. All the days at sea are such a treat though! You have plenty of time to enjoy everything the ship has to offer and you don't need to rush around.
Portugal looks beautiful!
Yes we'd like to return and explore more of it! ❤️
Portugal is definitely beautiful country with Amazing historyaround every corner!
I especially loved the relaxed feeling of Ponta Delgada!

Loved the beautiful colorful floral decorations everywhere on the streets! 🌼🌹🌸🌷🌻🌼
It was soon beautiful. Glad we were there during the festival!
Cute how kids were learning location from a real map!...that's how we found anywhere, growing up before GPS 😏

@@WorldFamilyExplorers Thanks, I know a little French and Spanish but Google translate sounds more practical 😉
I’m first!! Connie was asking about school on your adventure? Online? Btw this is Rick.

Might want to get a lapel mic, when u turn the camera away we can’t hear your narration.
Great tip, we will work on that!
Did you need any visas, to get off in the ports? We are taking the Dream back on the transatlantic cruise in September.
