Had the privilege of meeting Mark King at a music convention in 2000 at the Nec in Birmingham. Hes acracking bloke with a wicked sense of humour.
A very gifted bassist in many ways, but the real gift he has is being able to sing and play a bass guitar as well as he does.
Mind blowingly difficult for anyone to do, especially at his pace and intricacy of bass playing👍😜

I've seen the band live about 7 times with the Horn section and they are really funny to watch - as in the have a good time.

And there we go again! Hi Julian, I am back to listening to your various concert posts, as once again, the Levels have had to cancel their 3 Australian concerts. Blinkin' bugs!!! Never mind, all is forgiven. What huge tour can manage 2 weeks in quarantine, possibly even more as our state borders go up and down like a brides... no, sorry, not PC. Really love this Stuttgart concert (except for the adds!), thank you. Saw Genesis in the same concert hall about 200 years ago!

This is one of the best recent shows I've seen. I know many miss the incarnations of the band throughout the 80s, but MAN! This group OWNS the stage. Thank you, Julian, for posting it. I am now subscribing so that I don't miss out on any more gems.
I'm seeing them at the London Palladium in March and 3 times in October so if you can't make any gigs, you'll at least see some footage Nancy.

i heard the song something about you on the radio , maybe i heard it before, but its just this year that i searched for the artists. Since then its mostly level 42 songs i listened to while working. awesome band.

I have loved 42 for many many many years. After watching this drummer for a few years now, he just overplays sorry. Just Groove man just Groove.
You're not the first L42 fan to say that Jim. I've met Pete a few times and he's a nice bloke. Bearing in mind that Mark is essentially a drummer, he believes that the drums are the core of the band and therefore encourages Pete to elaborate.
That's what I was thinking what with Billy, Gary, and of course Mark's ability as well. You know, Phil was the groove master even though I totally appreciate what all those guys can do. Serve the music and let Mark shine more. Otherwise it's just too much.
Phil Gould, Ian Thomas, Jeremy Stacey class acts. This is chav drumming. I’m a huge fan of the original lineup inc MK, but he’s sold out. There’s no groove here

They are just sick with it,.... Major Funk Band they are.

Àlvar Coma ever since I saw DVD at Reading back in 2001 I knew he was a excellent guitarist yet with the fact Boon Gould , Alan Murphy , Jakko Jaczysek and Alan Holdsworth player guitar in this band their is no way bc Nathan is Marks brother would he be in the band if he was an average musician . Level 42 has always featured world class musicians from their inception ! As much as I like Gary Husbands style of drumming Pete is an outstanding groove drummer like Phil Gould and it almost feels like Phil is still in the band . I enjoy all the fabulous musicians in level 42 😎🎸

It's Stuttgart, Germany. The local Radio Station broadcastet their annual Top 1000, voted by hearers, the week before. Level 42 and OMD were invited for this closing party.

Yes, thank you. I listen to LEVEL 42 every day. Their songs make me happy.
Sorry to be critical, but how many times do I want to see Running in the family, etc etc performed? How about something completely new? If they just put in four songs they have never done in concert before: maybe: Good man in a storm, Time will heal, Lasso the moon, Hours by the window? and maybe two new songs, I would be in the front row! But the same song again and again. And Mike always doing the same two lead vocals. Excellent performance as always, but bored of it!
Interesting perspective. To a "casual" Level 42 listener I would want to hear as many hits as possible (probably the case for most concert goers), some I may not even recognize. If you go to many concerts I could see wanting variety. I'm surprised "Something About You" wasn't the last song played.
I agree. However, I am not a 'casual' listener. Most people probably go to a Level 42 concert and do not even over analyse what lead vocals Mike is going to sing. They probably don't even realise there is a second lead vocalist!

Mark King and Mike Lindup superb as always! Not impressed with the drummer. He’s off beat at times. Where’s Phil Gould?....we need him.
love mark and level 42 hardcore fan i admit . but at 60 u start loosing ur vocal chords or at least top end and tone ...but the great vertue of level is thier one of the few bands that could just play their instrumentals and most would be happy as pigz in shit . i defo would . long live M.KING and 42 what a awesome gift he is .

Sorry but even after only 15 seconds I'm distracted yet again by that boy's strange snare hits! He can't have intended that surely? Then thirty seconds later either he's dropped a stick or messing on with just one. What a mess. I bet there are hundreds of drummers who could do a perfect job but Mark obviously likes this guy....ah well.
For me, brilliant drummer but doesn't play the song. Over drums. SORRY.
