    It's weird to accuse others of space program with accusation ties to military from a country with Space Force.

      Why is it called the Space Race? It was the United States that rejected China's cooperation in the space program. The European Union also rejected the Galileo satellite navigation project. So what's the controversy about China going on its own plan to explore the universe?

    I believe there may be a factual error in your statement. NASA has not discovered water components on the moon. The discovery was made by China. Specifically, Chinese scientists found water components in samples brought back from the far side of the moon, which is the area that NASA has not yet explored. It's important to ensure accurate attribution of scientific achievements. Please verify your information and give credit where it is due.

      There is no current space race between China and the USA. The International Space Station (ISS) is scheduled for decommissioning before 2030 due to its age, and NASA has not announced plans for a new space station. By that time, China may be the only country with an operational space station. Additionally, China has announced plans to establish lunar stations, including on the far side of the moon, for purposes such as space travel, scientific research, and potential resource mining. Furthermore, NASA's recent rocket and space programs have faced delays, including an incident where astronauts were stranded in space for months. It appears that the competitive aspect of the space race has diminished.

      this is incorrect, the first detection is by India. China merely bought back the sample, however we do not need to bring it back to know water is there.

    • @brandonfred2334
      @brandonfred2334 Місяць тому

      @@lagrangewei Let's talk science. For scientists to make a solid, concrete conclusion, numerous detailed analyses on a particular subject are necessary. Relying solely on data from surface-level detection might not provide a complete picture, especially when dealing with complex environments like the Moon, which is subject to extreme temperatures, radiation, and lacks an atmosphere.
      As a scientist, conclusions should not be drawn merely from indirect measurements like those obtained from remote sensing. Direct sampling is critical to confirming initial findings, studying their context, and understanding in greater detail the origin of the water and the nature of subsurface materials. Direct samples can also lead to unexpected discoveries, which is why physical samples are so valuable. This is why many scientists advocate for sample return missions, like China's Chang’e-5, which allow for in-depth laboratory analysis that remote instruments can’t replicate.

      @@TrungNguyen-uf8cv China just collected sample from the far side of the moon, which was never done by the U.S. Where did they copy that from? China has built its own space station and will expand further. China also just moved up their Mars sample mission to 2028 while NASA Mars sample-return launch date is 2035.

      @@freespeech8520 they are state-run works, which NASA has done more shits. mars sample return from Perseverance is more anticipated if China only digging up some surface sand on some safe landing sites. Also in 2028, SpaceX should have sent one or two Starships to Mars.

    It would be good for everyone if countries like China and US can cooperate more in lunar and space explorations. But one key obstacle is that US laws, in particular the Wolf amendment, prohibits NASA from working directly or indirectly with Chinese space organizations. In the geopolitical competition, the US currently occupies the dominant position and is determined to keep it that way and isolate China anyway it can. Such zero-sum game mindset is deeply ingrained everywhere and needs to be kept in check through more calls for dialogue and collaboration.

    I'm not so sure we need another space race, so much as we need a space New Deal.
    If we're to move beyond science and military uses, and introduce industry and economy to space, it's going to require infrastructure and collaboration.
    We need tugs to move around satellites, and remove space debris, sources of fuel and building materials in orbit, and modular standards, so your satellite's propulsion/navigation/communication is a separate problem, the solution to which is already floating in orbit, ready to be used.
    There's plenty of opportunity opening up, and as cost per tonne to orbit decreases, the opportunity for economic growth increases.
    This is the new frontier in space, and if we get the economy going up there with some smart infrastructure investments, we could see a lot more advancement in space science than previously possible.
