I hope Ben is able to keep his property while trying to make a living Air B&B Those people trying to run him out have karma in due time. Great tour of a beautiful place.
I kind of stumbled across your channel and this is the first upload I have watched. Apparently, in TX any dwelling with fewer than 400 sq ft (399 or fewer) is exempt from property taxes - that's just what the video said, but I had thought for a long time that a 20 x 20 dwelling could solve the homeless problem done right - minimalist type stuff, you know? THIS pond house seems perfect... you could have a garage, even, underneath and still have room for the swing or the picnic table and some outdoor square footage. So, yeah, putting this up on stilts, basically is an excellent idea. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Hi! Thanks for the comment. Yes this type of structure could be very beneficial for areas where housing is in short supply. As you said, the lofted structure provides for ample space below, for things like a garage. Additionally, in flood prone areas the home is safe. So in short, YES this is a great option!
Cute little cottage tree house. The floor plan is very well thought out and the use of design elements adds to the quirky character of the place. Adorable. Could so do some serious napping during a light rain storm.
Thanks so much! 😊 Yes We agree! Rain, Snow, doesn't matter! You're protected by the structure overhead thanks to the unique design. Even on the coldest days you can warm up in the hot tub! Pretty sweet!
It's very neat, but I would not want to have to walk up those stairs in the snow. My children lived in a tiny house by a lake for several years. The lake flooded a couple of times and finally the owner had the house raised 3 feet on a concrete block foundation. It worked perfectly. My children all have their own homes, but they still look back fondly on their time in the tiny house.
The stairs are protected from the snow so there would be no shoveling involved 🤗. Sounds like some fond memories. This lofted cabin design would work well in flood prone areas!
I have a cabin in the trees VERY similar. We also call it a treehouse. Ours is half as big, but bigger decks - it is also light-filled with an outdoor shower off the deck. I have an antique soaking tub up there - it is magical too. Anyway, thanks for sharing - you don't see this everyday and it was fun for me!
@@CottageandCompany - we can fit an area underneath for a freezer (for our house which is right next to it) and also a pathway for our john deere gator to drive around the property. It feels safe up in the air, too.
As much as i love claw foot tubs, i think id ditch the tub & put in seating. If you spend any time at all inside, you get awfully tired of sitting on the bed. No room for projects, either. How disappointing that the woodstove isnt woodburning...Of course, im thinking of living there, not just using it for an AirB&B...
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I wonder what are the building codes for such a structure like this 😮 I have a spiral staircase and if you are too tall or fat it can be tricky or clumsy and trip either going up or down definitely not while drunk lol
@@Hjw673lakefront camps in VT are often located on a slope and at least partially on stilts. They built plenty of old wood docks and piers, and even bridges back in the day, although many are now metal. Plus, wooden fence posts are still used in soggy ground. Larch/tamarack is prized for rot resistance and of course there are wood treatments.
Kitchen sink a tad too overpowering the counter space. Microwave way too high. Not sure if I would like a bathroom/bedroom hybrid. Where's the living space? So much promise from the outside. Inside way too funky.
The living space is the bedroom and the area below the cabin. This is not a cabin you live in year round. This is a place you can rent for a weekend or a week

So, yeah... you'd have to do like a 19.95 x 19.95 to get UNDER the 400 sq ft thing... but it could be done, right?

It's got a Rusty bohemian feel! Nive🎉❤🎉
Love the design and little details.
Beautiful! Right!? Thanks for the comment
Skylight is everything 🎉❤

A spiral staircase! Love them! I think theyvare way underutilized. They have a cool vibe & take up so much less room.
Definately not practical, esp in a raised home. If he has to replace his furniture this would be a pain in the a**

How very lovely 😍 💕

So cool! Your place sounds great! What advantages have you found from lofting it into the air?

There's no toilet
❤Cute place, I really like it!❤ (I like yours best, though, lol!) I forgot to mention how beautiful the roof glass is! What a view.
Thank you! 😊 There are similar vibes to our own cottage here. The skylight is amazing! It lets in a huge amount of light.
Just a very beautiful living work done❤🎉😊
Thank you so much 😊 We agree ❤️
I'd stay there.
Cool fishing hut!!
Oh yeah! It could be!

Thank for sharing, I would love to see the making of the wooden bridge, did you film it?
You're welcome. Sorry we did not, but maybe something for next time. Stay tuned! Thanks!
go to south louisiana you will whole double trailer houses 20-30 feet up in the air
That was easy " Red Delicious apple"
Haha! Maybe!?
From miss. I enjoyed your video. Expansive video. Lol. Thanks.
Thank you! 🤗
Great place! Can you tell me about the electric, water, and sewer?
Thanks!
Water is hooked up to a well, and sewer drains to a septic tank. You can see the plumbing shrouded in an enclosure next to the hot tub.
Gala? Breaburn? Liberty? those are my best guesses.
Great guesses! 🍎 We might need to do another taste test 😉
Kitchen windows into the shower? 😳

THE SHOWER IS SCREAMING FOR SOME MOLD KILLER
Carbonate I use to clean the mold.
Panel to c.ose in bottom for winter remove in spring
Are those wooden columns gonna hold up in 50 yrs?
There’s 200+ year old wooden post and beam barns in VT that are still going strong 🤷🏻♂️
@CottageandCompany but enough to hold a house for 200 years? Are there similar cottages like this in the area?

Nice layout.
I like everything except the saloon doors on the toilet......no bueno.
where is the toliet?
09:50 Here it is! 🤗
400 square feet and no living room area or a normal table to sit at? How is that possible? Poor design I think...
