I got a cellar full of allagash special release that says it aint hype. So so good. Every time i visit Allagash i get as much as the wife will allow. Very happy to support all they do
We always try to grab some of the Coolship brews when we visit and share them with friends. They don't always rate well with our beer club but I'm never able to tell them the story of the process for how these beers are brewed to give them an idea of what to expect. Even if I don't like a certain bottle I can't help but respect and appreciate the process.
Another brilliant clip lads 🍻 have you seen any garage projects wild ferm drops in the UK as I'd definitely recommend. New Zealand's best brewery always pushing the boundaries 😃
Allow a Canadian to translate. 2lbs per gallon, that would be a US gallon, which is equivalent to 3.78 litres. 2lbs would be 907 grams, so 1/2lb or 227grams of cherries per litre (roughly, closer to 240grams really)
Dunno if anyone cares but if you guys are bored like me atm then you can watch pretty much all of the new movies and series on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my girlfriend for the last months :)
I had one of those coolship resurgams last year when I stopped by the taproom and it was just a bit too funky for me. My favorite Allagash beer I've had was definitely their Hive 56, so good.
just had the allagash coolship for the first time and im from new england... its a really good wild ale. you got to come back to the states and check out stoneface brewery out of newington newhampshire and shilling out of littleton NH
I made a wild ale the other day! Was supposed to be an Irish red but it got a liiiiitle too much oxygen in it after pitching the yeast. Ergo, malt vinegar haha. Dumped it, but still claiming that I’ve made a sour beer!
Are you sure they add lactose to Little Sal? I've never tried it so it might be obvious but they don't list it in the ingredients. Grains: Carapils, Raw Wheat, Allagash 2-row Malted Barley Blend, Chat. Munich, Chat. Abbey, Special B Hops: Hallertau Spices/Other: Local Blueberries Total Fermentation and Conditioning Time: Two years Serving Temp: 40-50°F Ideal Within: 2 years
@@epusion AH! Apologies - what Jonny said was "lacto", short for lactobacillus which is one of the microbes that sours the beer. Sorry for the confusion.
The conversion you needed for the middle beer Cherry fruiting: 0.9 kg per 3.78 L fruiting rate. I believe this is similar to the lower end of Cantillon cherry fruit rates.
NinjaMonkeyPrime ouch. Sorry you didnt like it. Its a small city but there is a good art scene, food, beer and lots of great hikes just outside of town
@@johno7617 Maybe I was a bit harsh. In my defense we had several issues on our short stay. Our hosts at the inn were either non existent or barely social. We tried walking the streets and shopping but didn't find much that would appeal to tourists. While walking we did encounter a two or three individuals who seemed to be not handling reality well which made us scared and not want to explore much else. And when we visited the one brewery that existed back then it seemed more like a hang out for locals where the staff could care less about our existence let alone selling us on their brews. Having said all that I see things have changed. The inn is under new ownership. The brewery doesn't seem to exist under the same name. And I don't recall where we ate while there but it was good wherever it was, and others at the inn told us about some amazing place that we wished we had tried. I'm sure it's better than what we experienced but there's so many other places I'm going to visit first after that trip. Or I'm going to wait for others to submit glowing reviews before I return. Sorry for being overly harsh.
@@TheCraftBeerChannel it's actually not bad. I'm in New England (mass), and that bottle of Coolship Resurgam, which they started distributing fairly recently, is about $15. Really not too bad in my opinion. Allagash are just pros all around.

Same. I'm blessed to live about an hour from the brewery.
F@#& Ton is the proper scientific measure, glad you guys are being so thorough! Cheers mates!
Thanks for doing this- I know it is not getting you a ton of traffic but it really is interesting to those of us who like to walk on the wild side
Is anyone near you making coolship beers? Would love to hear about more spontaneous breweries!
Only one i know of is Lindheim ølkompani in Norway.
@@1408Zodiac and they make BLOODY BRILLIANT spontaneous beer. Jacobs Hage is one of Jonny's favourite beers in the world.
@@JoelKN We love brekeriet - trying to remember if we have featured them. If we haven't it's a crime.
Fox Farm Brewing in Connecticut has a coolship and they produce some amazing beers.
Central Standard Brewing in Wichita, KS!

We've seen some at events, but never out in the wild as it were. Even had some of their wines, which were excellent!
My presumption is that Balaton, the kriek-inspired beer, uses Balaton Cherries. They're a sweet-tart cherry with a great burgundy color.
Yeeeah we shoulda clocked that!
If you are ever in the boston area ive got a whole cellar full of allagash everything. Resurgam is the best
Great video guys, really love how you guys describe alot of the beer styles :)
Cheers!

Allagash has a strong argument for best brewery in the US. I just wish I could get their House beer without traveling to the brewery.

Great video guys, really informative and those beers sound amazing! I'd love to visit Allagash Brewery 👍🍻
It was a trip of a lifetime. I could've moved in.
Young lambic is added to bring in fermentable suggars so the geuze gets carbonated.
(if it doesn't start you get Loerik or 3f Doesjel)
Indeed! But it also forms part of the flavour profile.
Always hyped about wild beers :) I bet these are super expensive in the UK but probably very worth it....
Not available outside of New England pretty much sadly! Lucky we have Belgium and some amazing UK breweries just warming up.
Muy bueno! , saludos desde Argentina.
Was just there, had the Resurgam it was amazing!!!
SO GOOD.

At 9.44 it sounds like you say lactose.

Allagash is great!
Have you had a chance to try anything from Side Project from St. Louis? They make an excellent Balaton wild ale. www.sideprojectbrewing.com/balaton
hellllll yeah, best sours in the world
You guys need to check out hermit thrush in brattleboro VT
We visited Brattleboro a while ago but I don't think Hermit Thrush was there. However, I really did not like the city and hope to not visit again.

What is average price for these beers?

1 lb (pound) is 454g. 2 lbs per gallon so 908g per gallon. US gallon I'd imagine too, so 3.785 (4) L (litres).
