Thanks for taking me down a wonderful memory lane, I had the privilege of owning one of these mighty machines, I have owned many faster cars along the line, but none have me the pleasure like my SUPER BOSS gave me.
My Dad had a Monza CD 16V and when I see that red top it brings back memories. That Super Boss is beautiful, its almost unbelievable to see it so clean with all the original bits.
Simply just my dream car above all else. My dad had one when I was 6 or 7 years old and I forgot about the car for years until I saw one again in real life...Beautiful example you have there cars.co.za!!..''South Africa can be proud of''...im so emotional right now
The fart noise....😆😆😆😆........all these Gti boy racers seem to love it. This Superboss was BOSS back in the day! Proudly South African. Love it......great stuff Cars.co.za and Ciro!!
Always loved this car. Learned to drive on my mom's 1.4 opel cub - it had a similar body and I'd used to imagine it was actually a Superboss while driving home late at night from my girlfriend's place...GREAT VIDEO!!!
Remember being taken to school in it, it was green first car I have ever seen with a digital speedometer and what we liked as kids that it was called a Super Boss but we didn't know how special it was.
not a fan of Opels in general, but i have big respect for this car, and Mike Briggs, Still remember him racing it on tv Saturday Afternoons, a true legend
Super Cool! Magnificent acceleration and solid around the corners. But yea... It was a hard ride, felt every small bump on the road. What an awesome ride!
south african spec cars......brilliant.my dad used to let me drive to school in his bright red alfa romeo super hatch 1.5.... any chance of doing a feature
I remember being part of the pit crew as a kid for my uncle's golf 2 gti 16v private group N entry... the BMW 325i works team in the pitbay nextdoor were cussing something fierce by the way Mike and the little super boss was kicking their butt...Terry Moss and VW works golf 16v was never even in the picture VW was light years behind on the racetrack.
Legendary!! Chris Harris said when talking to Deon Joubert, that it was WAY faster than a VW....yeas! My 16V 1.8 Gold would not smell it. It struggled to keep up with a 2.0 8V Opel. BUT they all rattled even when stationary. We used to have this bit to say to Opel owners who kicked our asses way back in 1992/3/4.
Own a Mint original black 1991 supie, i built it myself. as prev builder "expert" did a really bad job, anyway mine is as original as this. maybe even a bit better even😆, win Japfest best OG German. i have emigrated to USA, and its the only one in US as i took it with me. love it.
I`m genuinely interested to know how it gets received over there?...I met an S.A dude that imported one over to the U.K and he gets mobbed wherever he goes in his...
@@tshilidzirobert8123 it wasnt turbo charged its aspirated.....but to answer your question the power delivery was different to the iS beemer so less wheel spin ....and I think mike brigs that raced the car was a legend....not that Tony viena wasnt .
Yes sir. Racing branches. And in the opel unlike a golf. They come out the front of the engine so they have to wrap under the motor to the back hence they hang low.
In group N you were allowed to modify the exhaust, the standard 16v exhaust was a 4 into 2 into 1 with more ground clearance . They had straight 4 into 1 made for the race car.
My girlfriend of the time's brother had one and turbo'd the kak out of it. While it worked, it was best to hit boost only when you had a spare lane to steer into 🤣 Got the pulse racing indeed.
I owned both the Superboss in '91 and owned four different Subarus (2 of which were Impreza STI's, one seriously modified) and honestly bang for buck you won't find a better car than the Superboss. My STI was fast, but the GSI 16V S was so special in every single sense. Starting it in the morning and hearing those Shrick Cams with their lumpy idle and then blipping the throttle and hearing the revs jump into 7000 RPMs. Gave me goosies every single time..and whilst my STI would have given my Superboss a hiding from 0-100, the Superboss was no slouch in the top speed department when it often ran the clock full (marked to 250km/h) with ease. I think it would give any modern car a big fright if you picked one up on the highway (including my Subaru's) and didn't know what it was....
A true legend in South Africa!
we are proud of our legend car. 👌
👌👌SA legend indeed!
those stats, yikes
Hey Opel your my favorite car manufacturer

I'm a vdubba... But these cars will always have a spot in my heart... This and the CD16v monza
Thanks for taking me down a wonderful memory lane, I had the privilege of owning one of these mighty machines, I have owned many faster cars along the line, but none have me the pleasure like my SUPER BOSS gave me.
Well done with keeping our Heritage of the Super Boss and the Beemers. Awesome Job Ciro and Team!

Nothing beats old school.

Those 1.4 Opels made up about 90% of the 1400 class in group n racing !
Was waiting for this Supie to grace UA-cam

The only thing missing is a Transvaal number plate!
😆
Looks great, we saw her at the Concours d'Elegance at Steyn City in 2018
I have had 3 of these(uk versions), nothing has beaten the experience yet. I had a turbo 6 speed which was very rapid!
Long live Opel. Never been a better car.
❤❤
I still have my one from brand new! Car is original and still look brand new😋 will never get rid if it
No ways!!!
Super Cool! Magnificent acceleration and solid around the corners. But yea... It was a hard ride, felt every small bump on the road. What an awesome ride!
still a super cool car.. back in the day these use to whip ass all over the place and i got to see it in person so they will always be that memory.
This video has made me want to get a superboss lol
Great Work Ciro. I envy you
Awesome awesome video , what a special car , one of my Favourite cars from Group N days ..The superboss vs 325is
south african spec cars......brilliant.my dad used to let me drive to school in his bright red alfa romeo super hatch 1.5.... any chance of doing a feature
We had a Superboss.
I wish I was old enough to have appreciated our time with it more, but I was just a kid.
I knew the car was special, though...
This car is a GEM 🔮. Love it!!
Thank you guys for such rich information you share with us of our own SA legend car. Love it🙌🙌👌 ❤

You guys should feature a citi golf r-line
I have always been a opel kaddet superboss #2.0 16v
Still have the most amazing power, legend indeed!
Another fantastic effort 👍👍👍
This so what Opel does best. Making great engines. That's my dream car even though I'm driving Astra J 2013 Gtc. I want that.
Amazing restore!
I had one, 325i could not leave me in the dust!
I owned a 1990 model back in the day. This. motors biggest plus is the midrange grunt / torque and not high revving.
Wow! I love it...re Built to spec
How I miss driving them.
This is awesome, you guys should consider reviewing the Toyota Corolla Rxi or Rsi.
Damn I'm jealous of you Ciro
Keep your reverse cameras, dsg, paddles etc etc.. lol nothing compares to the raw power and experience of this icon
"Theres's no reverse camera" 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Opel Kadett GSi❤ 4-ever❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

@Terrence Naidoo yes, spent most of my time at meets discussing it.

Who is the superboss specialist mentioned in the video?
Please do a review of polo vivo gt. Would love to hear your thoughts on it
What do these cars do nowdays ? For how much are they on the market ?
Where can I get this now
I have had 5 gsi 16 walved engine kadett. Never a boring minute. So much driving Joy.
I want that engine for my Corsa utility.
Pls restock the opel kadett superboss shirts
How was it beating 325is when it had 170 hp vs BMW 210 hp? Especially knowing how dominant in racing E30s were back then.
had a better power to weight ratio
And a turbo too...

it has fuel injection, not carb
🤣🤣🤣 nah maan
Opel forever!!!!
@9:49 those pipes are not meant to be so close to the ground, are they?
Yes sir. Racing branches. And in the opel unlike a golf. They come out the front of the engine so they have to wrap under the motor to the back hence they hang low.

Back in the days when you owned a car with 16v u Wer considered special 😁
O yea, the days when you had hair on your palms, teeth etc. 😁😁😁
My ride was the Golf 1 GTi, 1984
After this video I have to go take the supie for a spin😂😂
Should be tested at East London or Killarney for full beanage.
Do a golf gti mk2 16v review
My girlfriend of the time's brother had one and turbo'd the kak out of it.

Got the pulse racing indeed.
