Wow, I remember this advert, wasn't too long after Euro '96, with a free ball signed by Southgate (then a pair of shin pads signed by Alan Hanson) Bull Boy shoes is what you need, Makes you miss your penalties. Hats off to Southgate for bringing our team to the final though. Been a fantastic manager and I wish them all the best.
One ad was Southgate signing a football, the other was Hansen with the shin pads. They referred to Southgate as "Champion of the English national football team!" I'm also pretty sure the promotion coincided with him missing the penalty that sent England out of Euro 96.
I remember it well. The clip of Southgate they used was of him heading it over the bar. I also remember that it started a couple of weeks after Euro 96. What awful timing! (Maybe by that point, 'Bull Boys' could not have axed their Southgate promotion without losing a lot of money?)
I remember the hasty editing when Southgate got dropped after missing the pen and seemed to rush Alan Hansen in. Fun fact- the European version has Zola!
Love how we all remember the original advert- "Champion of the English National Football Team!" Everyone was mocking it for a day at school. It did have a clip of him missing, too, although obviously it was before the Euro '96 penno.
Indeed, it was always "Why would Bullboyz shoes use a clip of Southgate missing the penalty?!". It seems Southate has made up for it since, a great man! (Even then, great player, sometimes we just have bad luck.) SN
Have you edited this yourself? Seems odd that it's Alan Hansen saying "Signed by me" over Southgate's penalty (Hansen replaced Southgate after THAT penalty miss).
Well spotted! So I run this little company, had an urge to recreate this during the World Cup- an attempt to 'Go Viral', was hoping we'd win the World Cup and this clip would be mega famous. - The original advert with Gareth Southgate doesn't exist anywhere, so I recreated it from the Spanish advert, Alan Hansen UK version and other clips. Hope you're enjoying living in the 90s again! This version is as true to my memory of the ad as a 12 year old as possible. Hope it brings fond memories of summer holidays for people. Simon :-)
@@SebLeng-x7q I definitely had a pair of these, but I didn't play football with them. Other than that, this is the first time in years that I've seen this advert. Lol.
went to an all girls school but still ridiculed them- the ones that would get us bullied were Nicks and Matchstick, was Reebok Classic or nothing in my ruthless school
About a boy is one of my fave movies. In one of the scenes Hugh Grants character will has his feet up soles showing with Bull Boys on the bottom. I hope it’s a piss take and that it’s a gift from Marcus’ crazy mother

I love how it includes his infamous penalty kick but cuts just before the save.
Indeed, it was an odd choice for Bull Boyz shoes! Great to see Gareth Southgate winning for us now!
I'm not sure if realised that when I first saw it, but it's funny looking back at it now.
@@GreenOilBikewinning what 😂
@@GreenOilBike I'm sure I seen a different ad where Southgate says he missed because he wasn't wearing bullboy shoes 😂
Oh you tease! I thought you had the actual Gareth Southgate version.
'Champion of the England national football team!'
Who remembers this from the 90's??
I do.

That's true! The advert seemed to show him kicking the ball, just before he hit the post. Then it cuts out.

I wish lol, I was only 13 but it became legendary in my school playground as it was so bad
I had these never forgot top storie to them
😂 I made my mum buy me these, I was about 6 then. Good times good times 😃

This is amazing - why has this been created! Love Alan Hansen's ghost at the start.

Get these shoes if you want to miss a penalty lul
England could have done with these today against Spain.. 😂😂😂
ha possibly yes.
i thought southgate had managed to get this deleted from the internet
Yeah, kinda recreated it ;-) From my memories as a 90's kiddo, the actual footage and another version of the shoe advert. SN
