I live in Central Otago NZ and I brought a NMAX 155 as a run around bike as my Honda ST1300 tourer is useless at commuting. The NMAX is awesome cant fault it.
Excellent choice of bike. I know because that's my bike too. I have the keyless 2.1 version - a silver one. Got my registration back after 3 weeks. You're just dying to take the bike out and just clean and stare at it waiting to ride, waiting for that registration to come. But yeah, that bike will indeed take you places. Easy and comfortable to ride on. Now you gotta do motovlogging and travel to new places! Ride safe!
Good choice sir, i have a Yamaha nmax 155, I bought it last 2018, the fuel efficiency is superb. very comfortable to ride. and has a huge under seat compartment. suitable for traffic places & long rides. its more better if you put a huge Alloy top box on the rear so u can carry more things.
I bought a Sniper 155. Same engine as the NMAX, but with normal (17") sized wheels and a 6 speed manual gear change. Personal preference. I just like to be in charge of my own gear changes. It's perfect for zipping in, and out, of the city. I've also joined the local owners club, who organise longer rides out about once a month.
@@4734291 Fairly certain all the Yamaha 155cc bikes and scoots use the same engine. A slightly different state of tune (possibly down to the ECU). Same engine but different clutch dry vs wet. Different drive chain vs belt. Different ratios. Saying the same engine in this case would only be good for parts not as an equivalent ride as you are making it seem.
Trust me it's gonna be worth it once you have the Papers and registration you will save alot of money. I bought mine back in 2017 and i only use my scoot in the city, and im not going outside the city back then when i didnt have the papers but i got it within a month and now my scoot has 98,000 km on it! you will save alot so its a good choice..
How much was the bike? Greetings from Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪.. Good information thanks for sharing 👍 I like the way you lay out all the transport options and prices..
Good choice on the brand and make. Yamaha 49cc was my first scooter now I have a 300cc Honda scooter. My next one is a NC750X Honda. I like automatics. I dont like the small tires. I like the storage and a step through. Cheap on fuel. Have fun.
You have the right idea on the motorcycle I was there on Davao Got tired of borrowing sister-in-law's bike And bought a brand new one it is still there they use it I am anxious to get back there I love the country and the people For now we are stuck in Oklahoma
You can follow up that registration often in the LTO itself or online. You have to have that temporary plate or License plate and ORCR with you and all that motorcycle documents.
Couldn't believe that you said " bought a Motorbike" but didn't mention how much on your video,., had to read comments to find out about the price., i'm sure many people would ask.
Best choice of transportation if living in the Philippines. Its a bummer though during the rainy season but you get used to it. The father of my friend who was from Belgium moved to the Philippines just because he could ride all year round and has been living there since the early 90s
Remember that if you venture out onto the expressway you are required to have 400cc or better on those roads . I personally would go with a Honda CB 500X if you can find one or a kawasaki versa 650 . If you just plan on toddling around the neighborhood then a scooter would be fine. I took the tvs 110 on a long trip from bongabon to dingalan over the Sierra madra mountains and it was pretty sketchy at times but it did it . Not the most comfortable thing I've been on and our kidneys paid the price for a couple of days afterwards.
I've been bouncing around on what to buy and I think the best is 2 bikes, both Honda's (for me). A 'full sized' CB500X/Forsa 350 or similar as well as a Wave or similar. The wear and tear you save on the big bike would be enough to pay for the little scooter and you don't want or need a full sized bike in the city. A crash would most likely happen in the city as well so the little bike can be considered as disposable.
@@Roof_Pizza it's not the bike but your body as I have found that having the power when you need it can get you out of situations where you could be in peril. Also the comfort of a big bike compared to a scooter is well worth the price especially on the beat up roads over there. I would not go smaller than a 250 for around town as passing those tricycles can be treacherous with oncoming traffic.
Very cool Mr. Laway. You bought a motorcycle much like what the Filipinos use when I know you could afford to buy a big bike much like most of the expats living in Angeles City. Thats a good bike sir for someone like the size of you.iys a maxi scoot. Its very reliable motorbike and very comfortable to ride on. Good choice, wise decision.
Yes, speaking first hand here. Get the registration before your travels No problem, or not much in the province but while passing cities and you already know you'll stick out for the traffic police, be safe..
Your vlog is very informative sir. Very interesting vlog! Well done sir. Keep it up! Ride safe always sir. New subscriber here sir. Enjoy staying here in the Philippines! Let's ride soon sir. Safe travel always.👏👍🤙💪
Yes definitely much more good if you buy motorcycle than car, there are so many car in the philippines that's why it so traffic!! During traffic its more accesible to use motorcycle because it can easily enter in narrow space. Nowadays more and more people in the philippines are using motorcycle to avoid traffic.😄👍👍
Unfortunately most of the people who die in traffic accidents are on under powered and overloaded scooters and tricycles. Perhaps it is easier to get around but because there are no rules a 300 pound motorcycle has no chance against a 3000 pound vehicle.
It is common these days to see Filipinos reaching " American size" . The unlimited rice at Mang Inasal helps speed up the process. Love the scoot and that bandanna helps to accentuate that biker look.
I got the Nmax in 2018 and rode it for 2 years till I went to America and then COV hit and travel held me back so after the Nmax set 2 years I let my Philippina sale it for 90k , Now i'm back here and I got the Honda PCX 160 ....The Nmax is a very nice scooter. It's 45 days on the ORCR now here when we live ..
if you are unlucky it can take up to 3 months before you can get your registration papers. it all depends on your dealership and their LTO liaison. Some liaison are just plain lazy so some papers could take 4-5 months . the only way to make them move fast is let them know you will or have file a complaint form to DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) for R.A. 7394 Article 2 Section C, “Protection against deceptive, unfair, and unconscionable sales acts and practices.” or possible violation of the seven (7) day period to register subject vehicle by accredited MAIRDOEs pursuant to AO No. AVT 2014-023 of LTO) that is what i did to my dealer and gave them a copy of the form and email. and after 3 days i got my registration.
I got nmax as a gift from my dad last year. Although, I'm used to riding a manual trans, I like how convenient a scooter is. No, wonder why scooter is the trend here in Asia.
I was in the philippines 2 day after using the tricycle transportation. I decided to buy a motocycle, kawasaki Bajaj ct--125. It was less expensive then scooter, What I liked was the freedom not needing to wait for transportation. What I did not like in Butuan city was the traffic, and 3 accdents I had none were found to be my fault.
Nice scooter. Smart getting a model with the fatter tires for wet roads. I will still get a car because of aircon and rainy season. Editing for I was waiting on a price. I must also say 155 is the perfect power for outrunning dogs that give chase! LOL Thanks for sharing. Found your cost of approximately $2480.00 USD Again thanks for sharing!
The thing that I found for me on the scooters is that the handle bars aren't wide enough for the width of my shoulders. The mirrors were completely ineffective for me as they were adjusted so far out that I couldn't see what was coming up behind me which with people passing on both sides is unexceptable and extremely dangerous. I guess you could put wide bars and extended cables and wiring but that would be an extreme hassle and letting one of these so called factory trained mechanics loose on your new bike is a recipe for disaster. The twist the wire together and electrical tape is the common practice and when you mention connectors or soldering they just look at you funny and proceed with mutilating your new bike . I had a throttle cable replaced on a 2020 tvs and they literally destroyed the wiring harness by pulling on the wires instead of the connectors. this was at wheeltec so don't let these idiots near your bike and if you have to replace something Google it and do it yourself . I now have to replace the headset wiring harness and the floor board because when they took it apart they forgot one of the main fastners and snapped the plastic. The two hundred pesos project has turned into a two thousand pesos project by the time i get done buying the parts and account for my time to replace all the damaged components.
Dr laway since you got a bike now don’t forget to swingby in my hometown masbate city just cross from cebu city to masbate then cross to bicol province okdok! Alright buddy be safe out there!! God bless you!!

I have been here for over 6 years. When we first came here we rented a van . Great buy depending on what you need. I would've opted for the newer model in xmax or the new ADV but still it's convenient for your size. I bought the Honda Click 125i and I literally put so many upgrades on it it's perfect. It speedy and both big and small enough to go anywhere. We should get together man, I live here in Tacloban City.
Nice bike, I'm in Mindanao, Bislig. I catch the yellow bus to Davou on occasion. Last time in Davou I went to Samal Island. I thought it would be nice to have a scooter to explore the island. Thanks for the heads up on registration and how the LTO works. Have fun.
Bought a PCX over a month ago still waiting on the numbers for the temporary plate. I have been riding it with no plate. You can't convince me that the locals are paying this much money and not using it. Cross my fingers and hope for the best.
Lol youre right mate, we are using it even if it don't have plate. We're just really careful not get Caught by the LTO or Police. I personally watch other motorcycles riders that I met on the road. if they are all wearing Helmets then I might be a little bit nervous. but if I met others who don't wear helmets. then that a sign that there's no Checkpoint on the Way.
All the locals know where the checkpoints and posts are and take back roads to avoid seeing the Police. So yeah they are going to ride for sure when they get a new bike!
Yup some trikes are akin to sardine cans for us kanos! We have a Suzuki car but some dirt roads are best left for scooters so we also have a Yamaha 155 to use as backup
Oh, you're going to love it here. Lots of beautiful places to see, especially the beaches and mountain roads that leads to breathtaking views. Just be aware, road rules are more of a suggestion to a lot of drivers and riders. And a lot of the locals are very friendly for sure but just be careful with people who just see you as a dollar sign walking. Ride safe, rubber side down always and all that. Cheers.
The scooter looks awesome when I get there I hope to get the same type of scooter. The safety-related thing I see and this is only based on other vloggers riding in some of the provinces at night would be the fact that it's all black which is nice. Not sure if a few bits of reflective tape or a white helmet would help. I've heard other vloggers complain about running up on other scooters not realizing they were there because they don't bother to replace or fix tail light issues, not sure if a working tag light is necessary in the Philippines.
I just bought a Honda CB500X in Bohol. They get their registration processed in Davao. It's at least a three/four month wait to get it. I would of bought it in Cebu but they were out of stock everywhere. In Cebu they told me the same three/four month wait for registration.
Good choice buying a Yamaha N Max 155! I bought a new one in Bali some years ago. Now it is very popular here in Davao del Sur. U can pimp it up with all kinds of extra equipment and bling bling. I would recommend a crash guard, some LED extra lights and a luggage rack with a top box on it. The engine has a special camshaft system that gives max torque at all speeds. Now I got a Honda XR150 coz I like to go even on dirt roads. It IS irritating that you have to wait so long for the registration though.
I would hope to have something for around the area small and then a big touring bike with luggage and tail trunk. 900cc or bigger. Oh.. Congrats on the nice scooter.👍
Please tell me how you got your license. I have a car not expired but would like to get a moped. I was gonna get an electric moped but that requires license and registration now did you get your license recently.
Converted my American DL to a PH license, just has to not be expired and they told me I needed to have a visa that allowed me to stay a year or more. Others have commented that you can do it on a tourist visa, but that is not what LTO told me.
I can relate to you Mate as I' also married a Filipina and have spent many times in PI/The Philippines! However, every Expat I know who went the 'motor-bike-route' eventually fell-off and injured themselves- some a lot! As I used to have a Honda 450 and then a Kawasaki 1000 its hard to relate to a Honda 100CC as part of defensive driving is to have the 'power' to quickly Get outa the way! I knew this newly arrived Gringo who bought a new Yahmaha 250 and as he was Bigger it better suited him until... A pig ran in front of him and he went over the handlebars! In PI, for the most part from what I've seen there isn't much of any REAL traffic Control and everyone drives the way they can- which is every which-way! Thereby I've been 'putting up with the Jeepney's and motor-taxi drivers and it works- but certainly is Not going in any style or real freedom of the road! Transportation overall in PI unless you go First Class can be 'rough' i.e. Cebu Pacific when it first came out was a nice airline- but then The Masses started using it, the company grew exponentially and the service soon became- a 'Jeepney in the Air'! I like PI a lot and having ones own transportation- "if' your living outside of any major urban area I'm sure is the Better way to go- just watch out for EVERYONE ELSE and the pigs (Never Beat the Roosters though- no matter where you go!)
Other people, animals, unmarked road construction pits...tons of hazards for sure on the road here. If you can believe it I have been to two countries where it is even worse. "Jeepney in the Air" had me spilling my drink LOL You are right though Everyone else is the problem, gets exhausting dodging from every direction. Also at night cars driving with no lights on coming up behind you and passing fun times.
Btw short for Philippines is Ph/PH. I also drive motorcycle to get around Metro Manila, you need to learn to be a defensive driver when driving here in Ph especially in congested roads. One thing you will learn here for sure is dodging other vehicles.
I am going to buy a Tuk Tuk for use in the Philippines. What's a Tuk Tuk? That red three wheel motorcycle in the aerial shot at the beginning of this video. For driving around in town a motorcycle is a must because there is hardly anywhere to park a car and run into the store.
I'm Filipino living in the Philippines and I don't even know why I'm watching this.😆
Haha! Well I hope it was entertaining 😀
Haha
Maybe you will learn something. From us.
Keep watching
Already learning a great deal! Amazing people!
😂
Me too Im watching😂😂😂
As a motorbike owner oh yes! Definitley its worthit. Just for the freedom you bought along with it. Worth it.
Yeah the freedom was my main thought!
you should get 400cc scoots instead, so you can Enter express ways here in PH if you're planning on touring the whole PH on a bike. 👍
Alternatively, you could've bought a Honda PCX 160, it's got a bigger underseat space 30 liters and larger fuel capacity at 8.1 liters.

Have fun.
You could a "Kingcab" motorcycle somewhat a tricycle for cargo or shopping trips. 150 or 200cc
Perfect choice on the motor 😎
Thank you so much!
Yamaha nmax very nice midget use scooter in the country. Enjoy and safe ride sir
Wow Nmax very good and fast scoot! You can go around the philippines with that scoot and it will save you alot of money. :)
That's the plan! Hope it works out 😀
that scooter looks hard for sure, good purchase.
Yup some trikes are akin to sardine cans for us kanos! We have a Suzuki car but some dirt roads are best left for scooters so we also have a Yamaha 155 to use as backup
That's a good decision to buy your own transportation.

Cheers.
Thanks for your thoughts!
Keep safe sir... U have a good choice to buy a motorcycle.. You now have a lot to do and xplore.. Keep it up.. From phillipines
Thanks 👍
The scooter looks awesome when I get there I hope to get the same type of scooter. The safety-related thing I see and this is only based on other vloggers riding in some of the provinces at night would be the fact that it's all black which is nice. Not sure if a few bits of reflective tape or a white helmet would help. I've heard other vloggers complain about running up on other scooters not realizing they were there because they don't bother to replace or fix tail light issues, not sure if a working tag light is necessary in the Philippines.
Was hoping for a test ride or a speed test. or a short review maybe about the bike.
I just bought a Honda CB500X in Bohol. They get their registration processed in Davao. It's at least a three/four month wait to get it. I would of bought it in Cebu but they were out of stock everywhere. In Cebu they told me the same three/four month wait for registration.
Wow even worse than here, Nice good all around bike
Check with yamaha about yamaha connect module draining battery if not driving everyday
Thanks! Will do
Try Philippines loop with your bike registers to tourism ofc.
Already looking for a top box this week! Thanks for the other suggestions as well!
nice motorbike,good job man.
I would hope to have something for around the area small and then a big touring bike with luggage and tail trunk. 900cc or bigger. Oh.. Congrats on the nice scooter.👍

Hello merl, thanks for subscribing!
What camera are you using ???
It`s perfectly clear !!!
Gio in the Philippines has the same scooter and recommends it.
One thing you will learn here for sure is dodging other vehicles.
wow a new one, yahama Nmax excellent
Mean looking machine! Black on black.
The funny remarks 😂 I like your sense of humor
Great article but regarding the scooter, do you need to pass a test first and guess you need insurance of some kind?
I’ve seen 12 on a bike and tricycle on all saints day … bike and sidecar would probably describe the setup best
Good lord! Danger
you should buy Adv150 or PcX160
Good video brother!
Appreciate it!
I am going to buy a Tuk Tuk for use in the Philippines. What's a Tuk Tuk? That red three wheel motorcycle in the aerial shot at the beginning of this video. For driving around in town a motorcycle is a must because there is hardly anywhere to park a car and run into the store.
now make a video about you riding it pls! also welcome to Philippines!
welcome here in Philippines
Nice bike. Ride safe!!
Thank you so much!
Important things don't forget ware helmet and shoes. South to north enjoy.❤❤❤
