Great bag, good job. Add a small weather/emergency radio or baofeng to gather Intel. The place you want to get home to may not be accessible or dangerous. Phone serviceswill mostly likely down or overburdened.
Just microwave some in a glass microwave-safe bowl and dip the cotton in the liquid. Instant firestarter for those of us that want a failsafe. I prefer it over carrying flammable fluid containers
I tell people all the time, about the pros vs cons of the Lifestraw. I have the Sawyer squeeze, but decided to replace it with the Grayl UltraPress, it's in my opinion a better water filter, cause it takes away the pesticides, heavy metals, bad smell and bad taste of river water.
like the drop pouch idea .... MAxpedition are the bomb !!! Trade the lifestraw for a mini sawyer ... extra socks .... agree big time on the moleskin .... keep that medical trauma out where you can get it quick... leather or mechanix gloves .... sunscreen and insect off wipes .... headlight ..... just some thoughts but a decent bag , a bit more food...
I keep my main trauma kit on my belt at all times. I have a few mini sawyers in a few of my other kits. The life straw works better for my set up being my bag is smaller in size. My olight flashlights all come with a pocket clip the also can be attached to a hat as a headlamp. Thank for your feedback. It's people like yourself that will help the channel grow with your great ideas.
Thank for the questions. Catching small game won't be for everyone. Most people live on average an hour from there place of work. As for myself I drive a truck for a living and sometimes I'm three or four ours away. If I have to walk it could be a two to three day trip home. Maybe even longer. Not carrying much gear and staying off main roads I might need the food. As for the tent your body heat will stay trapped in the tent if you close both sides off from air flow. Hope that answers your questions.
I don't usually keep a compass in the bag have one in the truck. As for a headlamp olight has these great pocket clips that can attach to the brim of a hat so I don't really need a headlamp. I'm going to be doing a video this week on the lights I carry and I'll show you how it's used stay tuned.
Maxpedition Sabercat Versipack Black Fanny Pack. They don't make this bag anymore. In sure you can find one I search and look around. If I do find it I'll send you a link

Good stuff brother. Something I've taken a liking to for firemaking is a few petroleum jelly-soaked cotton balls in a small baggy.

I gave up on the lifestraw in favor of gravity/passive filters. I do like the befree which is a container & a filter.

The peak series lifestraw attaches to bottles and gravity systems. Unlike the OG that just makes you suck straight from a stream

Why do you need to catch game for one night?
Also how does the tube tent warm up at night?
