I was there watching the concert from the 11th row in the "Konserthuset" in Stockholm that night. It was one of the most fantastic concerts I ever experienced, purely magical. The early version of Fleetwood Mac, i.e., Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac were absolutely one of the best blues bands at the time. Peter Green was truly a great, great blues guitarists and his vocal was amazing. Peter R.I.P.
They say anyone can play the blues, but you can tell when someone really has a gift for playing the blues, and Peter Green had it. This is the music Fleetwood Mac was formed to make, so it's one of those ironies of life that the band finally found its greatest success as a pop act.
Peter Green exhibits a direct connection between his heat, hands his fingers and a higher power. Peter was a very spiritual person that put his feelings at his fingertips. The Green God bearing his soul to us. What a gifted musician and wonderful man. We are blessed to have heard his magic!
Give a listen to Mike Bloomfield, album: “The live adventures of Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper” song: “I wonder who”. Mike and Peter both have that gut wrenching ability to translate their feelings to their guitars.

"Got a Mind to Give Up Living (and Take Up Shopping Instead,)" was a BB King song that Peter covered. This version reflects his tender and fragile emotionalism and his unnatchable tone! Unforgettable! RIP
The Stockholm , April 1 ,1970 concert lasted for +2 hours and they finished off with a half an hour long version of "Rattlesnake Shake" before the encore, a 15 minutes version of "Twist & Shout", all absolutely fabulous!! 😋
Still my electric blues God 47years after I first heard him play. Saw the band 9 times with both JS and DK in the lineup . No one makes a guitar cry like Peter Green did or makes you feel "it" .
Great! :D I was actually very fortunate to be at this concert, at very tender age but still a big blues afficiando :) Fantastic concert. This was at the Stockholm city concert hall. Thanks for posting!
I love Peter, I love his version of this song, but the phrase @6:33 seriously makes me weak at my knees. One of the most touching sounds I have heard in my life. He made that Les Paul cry.
I know this has been out here for awhile, but if you're listening to this version and haven't heard the Helsinki version from Sept. 24 1969 ( or 11/11/69 as at least 1 commentor notes) you are surely missing a GEM. GaZon (sp. ?) has a great quality version of this show. Stockholm gives us an AWSOME version, but in my humble opinion, Helsinki's gives us: only half the notes but "two times the pain," or is it joy? As I listen to it, my eyes water and my heart cries out in anguish, or is it ecstacy? Actually, Is it both or, for me, it is beyond words. Thank you Oh Green God, you true Supernatural being, for this gift of your heart, soul, and talent.
God, this is great performance. Thanks for posting this. Too bad there isn't any video of the actual performance. I would love to see the look of Peter's face while he's playing the solo.
As I keep on saying, nothing has ever made my eyes perspire as much as this, its gut wrenching in places, nothing and no one comes close to this for pure immersion. Was the guitar also connected to Peter as well as the amp?
No offence to Clapton & Beck - great guitarists both - but from the time he appeared in Mayall's Bluesbreakers until that fateful trip to Germany where I believe he got spiked with acid & never got back - Peter was the most soulful blues player & singer in this country. He just had that magic touch that lifts the Blues to the place that gladdens the heart & moves the spirit. Used to go & see the Mac whenever I could & always came away with the feeling I had witnessed something that few people could produce. Until then I always thought the English blues bands were a poor substitute for the likes of Otis Rush & Magic Sam, Howling Wolf & Muddy Waters. Peter was special & I was deeply saddened to see him a shadow of his former self. We lost so many great players to the demons of drugs & drink...
There's much more to the story sir, and no offence meant here, but Peter never got spiked he was an acid zealot, a willing participant and has admitted as much himself and he did plenty after the so called Munich incident, like this performance. This was recorded after the incident where he supposedly lost his mind. Go figure.
Yes Isaw Peter play at least twice after the Munich incident and before he quit FM and he was at the very top of his game (let's not forget that this is also fantastically soulful because of the sympathetic and unintrusive backing by the rest of the band )
@@AnthonyMonaghan The acid didnt help but Peters real problem was that he was schizophrenic, which has been proven not to be caused by drugs but by a congenital brain disorder that manifests itself as a personality disorder in early adulthood in most cases. For a schizophrenic to take drugs is a very bad idea however and pretty much any drug you can get high from can aggravate the condition. Most people can largely recover from over indulging with drugs like acid, not to say it cant cause mental problems, largely of a PSTD like effect, some lasting and difficult to deal with, but Schizophrenia is a permanent condition one is born with. That said the PSTD effect is very much more severe when mixed with Schizophrenia as the Schizophrenic already has great difficulty dealing with reality without drugs.
Our daughter gets married today and our son can’t go because of Covid , I listened to this , wept a bit (I usually do when I hear this version ) so many mixed emotions, this helped though, thank you Peter Greenbaum and band.
Awesome I was too young to see FM in their prime but saw Peter's Splinter Group a few years ago he was great but you could tell he was damaged would love to know where / what he is doing now
The applause at 6:17 is absolutely pathetic. You just saw, with your own eyes, a generational talent, play the most gut wrenching blues ever put on tape!!!!!!!!!! And that’s the best y’all could do??????
I think it might just be the recording that makes it sound like no applause. Or maybe its just hard to clap or even speak after witnessing something like this in person.
quite distant, BUT LISTEN BETWEEN DAS LINES & YOU HEAR A DUDE WHO WAS NOT AFRAID OF JIMI ,LIKE SO MANY AXERS WERE !!!!!! TOP 5 ALL TIME......GREENBAUM PAGE BECK E.C. JIMI .......

The song I referred to “I wonder who” keeps building up until it gets to this magic place at the end that can take you for a ride when you listen. Peter and Michael both had that innate ability.
This isn't The Letter (whatever that is). This is Got A Mind To Give Up Living. Its new to me and a great performance. Its got that 'End Of The Game' feel to it!
Andy Thomas B.B. King performed this song in the 60's; on his albums it was either known as "The letter", "All over again", or "Got a (good) mind to give up living". A guy called Carl B. Adams supposedly wrote it.

Hendrix is really the only other one of Peters contemporaries who could play like this. And its really weird…and i dont know why…but i cant think of anyone NOW who can play like peter or jimi did back then.
I've heard this recorded at different concerts and everytime it's different and fantastic. I can't stop listening to Mr Green. RIP
That tone and phrasing...God sent him amongst people to spread pure sonic joyness.
Actually this was when he started to use LSD and it took him to hell.
Clapton, Hendrix, Page, Beck, SRV...they wish they had this finesse.
True.
I'll agree on everyone except Hendrix and Beck.
Deferably!

Until this day I have never heard a guitarist who can putso much pain and grieve into his/her playing as Peter does here!!!

BB’s tune was called “All Over Again”
@@cheesedancy6926 In later years, B.B. King used to sing just the first line just for laughs. I think the effect is called bathos.
Well said
There are no words to describe how beautiful this is.
I'm speechless after listening to this. Incredible.
Jerry Smith yes I am still speechless and watery eyed in a way I never have been listening to other so called blues masters.
timj41 - Me too, he touches your soul, powerful, so much emotion, he's the real deal😘🎶💓🎶
As I say, Peter Green is the most spiritual guitarist ever!!!
Thomas Well said. His guitar cryes in this song. Great tecnique but greater soul...
Peter Green fronted Fleetwood Mac is a force to be reckoned with.
Rest in peace greeny 🖤🖤
I was there, just turned 15, mezmerized by Peter Green and the band. As far as I remember they did 6 encores. That concert got me into the guitar.

lucky you
The tone, OMG, such tone.
words cannot describe how AMAZING this is!
Peter's tone was haunting and other worldly....often evoking feelings of a deep and desperate sorrow....
peter green is the blues. fantastic performance, incredible.
Captivating, mesmerizing. He could pour his heart out through those 6 strings. Thankyou Peter
what a way to wake up! coffee and early fleetwood mac.
Incredible....my personal guitar hero.....just incredible...

This is for ever i love his music as long as i live .
This is the best version of this song on UA-cam. Too bad the sound quality is not better, but honestly the guitar playing is so good who cares.

Totaly agree, not enough, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac live on video, when i listen to this I wish I was 5 years older then I would have seen them live
I heard that wherever the music was stored in some building the building caught fire and so many Fleetwood Mac music went up in flames
❤️ My Hero! Thanks for uploading !!!
Mine, too! Amazing musician.
Wounderful blues

You tube rules. Dude left a comment on New Orleans version saying track down Stockholm 4-1-70.....so I did! Wow.

As I keep on saying, nothing has ever made my eyes perspire as much as this, its gut wrenching in places, nothing and no one comes close to this for pure immersion. Was the guitar also connected to Peter as well as the amp?

it is Peter doing BB King's song The Letter. Well worth tracking down.

Although I love Hendrix , Peter Green is " the " greatest blues guitarist of any era imo , close 2nd is Hubert Sumlin then Jimi .
"Greatest Guitar Player" is a meaningless phrase-it's all subjective! There are many great musicians and Peter was one of them.
