    If I wasn’t using tile. Like instead I’d like to use vinyl boards. Should I still mortar ontop of the wire? Or could I simply lay the board down?

      Because vinyl flooring is not as sturdy as something like tile, you would have to embed the heating system first and then you could lay the flooring on top. You would most likely use self-leveling cement to achieve this, and the uncoupling membrane would not be necessary for vinyl as it's primary function is to support tile floors. Is it ok to install penny tile over this? any special considerations?

      Tiles this small cannot be installed over an uncoupling membrane. Prodeso requires that tiles be no smaller than 2" x 2" in size.

    How much does thickness does the thinset add under the matt and between the floor tile and the mat? I need everything together to be 3/4" total to match the hardwood in the adjoining bedroom. The floor tile is about 1/4 inch thick

    • @Warmlyyours
      @Warmlyyours  Рік тому

      It's recommended to use 3/8" thinset underneath the prodeso, the prodeso itself is only 0.219″ (less than a quarter of an inch) and then 3/8" is used again to install the tile. So all those layers would be just under an inch. Adding in the tile thickness, I think you would possibly be over the 3/4" that you're aiming for. You can learn more about the underlayment here though in case there is a way to make this product work: www.warmlyyours.com/products/line/floor-heating-underlayment-prodeso

    How long do you need to let the first layer of thin set dry before walking on it and installing the wire and tiling over it. It looked like he was walking on it immediately after setting the uncoupling membrane?

      You can begin laying the cable as soon as the product is thin set down onto the subfloor. This is why this product can save so much time - turning what would normally be a multi-day install into a one-day project. curious if one could extend this type of heated floor under the bathtub to ensure it also stays nice and warm for a bath or shower?

    • @Warmlyyours
      @Warmlyyours  4 роки тому +1

      Heating cables are not rated to be used under fixtures or up and around something like a bathtub. Most tubs are made of materials that do not conduct heat well so that they stay insulated and retain the heat in the water for longer. As for a shower, we do design systems meant for shower floors if installing tile on top that you can learn more about here: www.warmlyyours.com/en-US/shower-kits

    • @Warmlyyours
      @Warmlyyours  4 місяці тому

      Yes it is! It can be used with almost any floor heating uncoupling membrane.

    What happens if you install the membranes upside down? Any ideas?

    • @Warmlyyours
      @Warmlyyours  3 роки тому

      The underside of the membrane has a porous material that helps it grip the thinset typically installed beneath the membrane layer. The square pockets that make the room for the cable, are designed to be one way up (the way it should be installed) to help with vapor management and crack suppression after installation. So it should not be installed upside down as there's no real benefit from it and the product would not work as intended at all.

    Hi, we can pour self leveler on heating mat?

    • @Warmlyyours
      @Warmlyyours  4 роки тому

      Hi Cristi, you can pour self-leveling cement over the Prodeso + Cable if it's compatible with the installation of the flooring that will be installed on top. If you're not using the Prodeso Uncoupling Membrane, just make sure the mats or cables are securely fastened to the subfloor before pouring. Thanks for watching!

    What happens if an uncoupling membrane is not installed

    • @Warmlyyours
      @Warmlyyours  4 роки тому +2

      If Uncoupling Membrane is not used, floor heating cable can still be installed with fixing strips, but it will be more time consuming. Without uncoupling membrane, the tile is not as well supported as it could be, but it is not absolutely necessary for this type of install. Thanks for watching!

      WarmlyYours can mosaic tile be installed on this ?

    • @Warmlyyours
      @Warmlyyours  4 роки тому +1

      It can as long as the individual tiles are at least 2" x 2". Any smaller than that is not recommended for uncoupling membranes. Thanks for watching!

    None of the multitude of these installation videos go into details about the thermostat, sensor wires and mains power

    • @Warmlyyours
      @Warmlyyours  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, we actually create a separate video for thermostat set up, you can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/b5yFKbjXwUc/v-deo.html
      This is largely because the installers working with the floor heating system are often doing the floor but not the electrical. A certified electrician must connect the thermostat and wire it to the floor heating system. Hope this answers your question!
