- Join me in learning about one of the most common plants that is found in disturbed soils around the world.
Plantains main benefits are its ability to help sooth inflamed tissues, making it an invaluable plant for working with a variety of skin and mucus membrane issues.
Most of you have seen or used this plant before, so let us know your experience with Plantain by commenting on this video.

I was born in Wayne County West Virginia. I am now 82 years old. When I was a child we always gathered plantain, especially spring, and cooked it like any other green family. If you don't pick it while it has young leaves, it will get tough, and will not cook tender, no matter how long you cook it. Here in Georgia, where I live now, it grows in different areas all over our yard. I did not know of all the health benefits. Thought it was just for eating. Thanks for sharing.
Interesting. My granny used to make a mess of dandelion greens every spring for a "purgative". See Yarrow's video on dandelions & benefits thereof. This knowledge is there but you might have to do some research.
Thanks for letting us know it can be eaten. I only knew of the wound healing benefits🙏🏾🌸
Here in New Zealand plantain is called kopakopa and we have used it for centuries, great for treating wounds, cuts boils and stings
Almost 70 years ago, my grandmother made a poultice of cream and mashed plantain leaves to heal a bunch of horribly painful boils I had. Worked way, way better than what the doctor prescribed and cost much, much less.
My grandmother would whip up her homemade remedies as well. Unfortunately most people have lost the art of natural medicine.
Da Re Good to know, I keep a ledger of natural healing that people share with us.. thank you
Mother nature is always best.
@@pookiehoney It is time to find it again ! The Creator's abundance surrounds us yet we reach out to the pills of big Pharma , the wonders of

I would love that recipe if you have it! I’ve had issues with boils the past year. The prescriptions from the doctor are mediocre at best. But I have a ton of plantain growing in my backyard! TIA 😊
I love this attitude towards common place plants; one of respect, curiosity, value; and not a dismissive view as annoying weeds to be obliterated.
The worse it gets with big pharma and i do think they are working with and were tutored by operation paperclip scientists the more we will need this knowledge. Please get some good books references as it may get really dangerous and medicines hard to come by.
Plantain is one of the plants I recommend everybody know. I have found using the whole leave for tooth abscess invaluable, just like you would for an infection on the outside of the body. 2nd daughter got between the dogs having a disagreement, and she got a slight nick on her leg from one of them, likely from a tooth, and it went septic, not to bad, but enough that it needed treatment. So I told here to put some plantain on it, but grandma would not hear of it, and took her to the emergency room, and they did test, annd antibiotics, and even eventually a MRI, and after untold fortune later they could still not get rid if the chronic infection. So I asked if they were ready to try some plantain, and 2nd daughter went out and got some out of the yard, and by the next day was the infection not only gone, but wound was actually noticeably healed.
@Harsh Reality From the account literally called Harsh Reality. I get the feeling you live to rain on parades
How about you try it and use it for yourself before you lie and say someone else is bullshitting. I have used plantain many times myself, it's an incredible herb that's more effective than antiseptic cream and works faster to draw out toxins, especially good for be stings and bites, wounds etc.
Yeah bullshit
SoulWithFlow It’s a good plant. Crappy story.
@@granmabern5283 Sorry you think so, was exactly as it happened, but think as you will. Have no compelling reason to just wake up one morning and get on youtube (use to relate the ordeal on many different survival and patriot forums in the past even before this time) and decide to just make up some story in support of some plant that somebody posted about. It has also likely kept me from dropping dead from teeth problem over the years as it is very good at drawing out infections in relation to those problems as well. There is a reason that it is considered a sacred herb by many different cultures. shrug
I'm so glad I found your channel. Since we're in the middle of a global crisis, I feel the pull to learn about what's growing around me so I have a source of food and natural medicine. We've lost so much knowledge in our modern world, we need to return to all that Mother provides.
The never ending crisis. First a 2 week lock down, then 2 months, now over a year later, they are tightening the ropes even more. Locking us down to cover the lies they are hiding. This is a biblical war, a war between good & evil. Ephesians 6:12 God bless.

Yea, in the middle of Orchestrated Plan-demic. A perpetuated made crisis. Now as far as gobal goes, this world is not a globe even stretching the imagination or is it pear shaped like Neil deGrasse Tyson leans toward saying it is. Question all official stories. Just found your channel, I'm hooked! I have a great memory of Plantain from my childhood 60+ years ago. After stepping on a bee and being stung a passing stranger asked my mother for permission to help. He did just as you did, took some Plantain from the yard, chewed it up and applied it to the sting. Relief was almost immediate. I of course thought it was magic! That old man I'm sure has passed on but I remember him like it was yesterday.
bwatcher1000 If you crush it in your fingers it works fine, too.
I have done this with bee or wasp stings and other bites and am amazed by the soothing. I do chew the leaves for myself and have the injured person chew their leaves and swallow what doesn’t get used as a poultice.
Clearing out poisons from the inside as well as the outside.
My older sister taught me this many years ago.
if more people were like you, how peaceful would our world be by now
True say..
Yeah but there would be like zero clothes at the second hand stores...
I showed my kids how to make a platain yarrow ointment with macerated herbs steeped in oil, then thickened with beeswax for stings and burns. Great plant. thanks for sharing.
I use it to stop an allergic reaction to cashews in one of my employees. He ate them without knowing and started having breathing issues and stomach cramps. I made him drink a strong tea(which he said he liked) and within 2 mins the anti-histamine properties were going to work. He was able to talk and move around and said he could go back to work and was totally fine. :)
Wow! And this was without him taking any other treatments, such as an epi-pen or anti-histamine medication?
So you just had dried tea handy or went to go get it fresh outside?
I've started spreading it for erosion control. My garden is on a slight slope; last big rain, all my nice woodchips washed out from the rows and spaces between the beds, rinsing away precious soil I'm trying to build - except where plantain was growing. The soil held together beautifully wherever even a small clump of plantain was. Since it stays low to the ground and is so useful, I'm going to encourage as much of it as I can instead of bringing in more woodchips.
L
Wow, another use I never thought of!
Having knowledge is one thing but I just like listening to this guy. He’s actually a pleasure to watch.

Growing up in Eastern Europe, I was always told how this plant was medicinal, saw it everywhere and didn’t think much of it. This summer, though, I got to finally experience its benefits on a mosquito bite, which healed almost immediately, cannot belie it took me decades to finally give it a try - magical enough experience to inspire me to learn more about this plant.
My wild garden is packed with plantain and I use it probably on a daily basis. It is the most amazing plant I have encountered for healing wounds and for pain relief! I broke a finger and took a lot of tissue from the bone with a large open wound. I immediately made a poultice and packed it around the wound. Pain relief within 10 mins and total healing within two weeks....... amazing , Thanks for sharing your knowledge 👍🏻🤗
You are not sorry at all
@deathtoreligion I actually understood that her tissue healed well and not the brocken bone. But whatever.
Wouldn't it be great if Everybody had this knowledge so that hospitals would go back to "only as needed" care centers? The mass majority of people have bought into the line that you need someone with a white coat to "save" you B.S.
@deathtoreligion Gonna have to call bullshit on you. With a name like yours you're only here to stir up controversy, not to be helpful
Yes this plant grows very well here in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 I use it in teas 🌱
I use this all the time on mosquito bites, it's incredible!
Long time ago, my grandmother told me, and i'm still remember it now at 52, that plantain was good ont a cut / if you bleed.
Good information provided, i've don't even know one tenth about it!! You've earn a new follower.
Compact soil, ha, it grows EVERYWHERE in my garden and in the lawn.... going to seed right now. I watch the birds pick out the seeds, so great. I snack on it when I do garden work and my 3 year old granddaughter knows it and how to use it. Bee stings don't even swell if I get it on right away! It's wonderful! !!!
kleineroteHex.... So good to hear additional testimonies from people who have used it.... Thanks for sharing ; )
LaVonne Spencer I know as a child we'd always collect the lanceolata only for cough, dried it for winter use. We totally ignored the broad leaf 🤔
Now I use whatever I get to first or the nicer leaves. Put it on a kid's sprained finger once, the only green that still grew at the time.
Sometimes I need to be reminded about different plants that I've heard about... and a few years go by and you kind of forget what they were suppose to be used for. But, if you use them enough, you probably wouldn't forget so quickly ; ) I have picked it out of my garden recently.... but, need to use it.... maybe even make a tincture out of it, I wonder if a tincture would help draw more medicinal properties out of it?
LaVonne Spencer make a tincture, make tea and eat some, see how you feel on the different kinds.
thanks for sharing your experience with this plant... i thing this is one of the best plants for young children to learn about, and start using when they need it. One of the best ways to learn about the power of herbal healing.
I chuckled about it growing in the wheel track's, about 300' of the Back Alley is not mowed and Plantain grows abundantly well. My rabbit's love it, but I'm going to cut into they're supply and make some Tea, and use it in a Salad. Ten years ago a lady from Europe shared that rolled up, and put in between an abscess and your cheek, it clears it up quickly.
My mother has Lupus. When she has pain or inflamation I apply it on her inflamation after warming it up in a microwave for 30 seconds. She has an immidiate relief and which last couple weeks.

Other than that, yes. Good

Good video. I learned about plantain about 6 years ago and have been using it ever since. It's also a gear food source full of vitamins and minerals. It has all 18 amino acids and can be boiled in water to remove the tannins which are somewhat bitter. One interesting thing I've noted. Plantain is especially sensitive to herbicides. Whenever someone sprays their lawn with weed killer, plantain is the first to disappear. If you see a lawn that has other weeds in it but doesn't have plantain, those weeds have likely been sprayed and are more resistant. Don't eat any herbs from an area that has no plantain in it, because chances are high that they've been contaminated.
Awesome information !
Rib wort grows well in semitropical Australia, Northern New South Wales for example. It grows well in rich humus soil also. Juice from the leaf will cause melanomas to dry up and drop off. It takes about a month. Squeeze out some juice once or twice a week, apply the juice to the melanoma 'wart or growth'. It works very well. The melanoma will go like a dry clod of mud, and when scratched, will fall off with no scar or sign that a cancer was ever present. Great info on this channel. Thank you my brother.

I taught a farmer friend to make plantain tincture for himself. He told me that his cows preferentially graze on plantain, which was very interesting to know. This is in Ireland where does can develop coughs due to the damp climate.
