Especially the extended footage of dark runways. I've always wondered what they look like from First Class. Seriously, I too have watched these videos for years and finally have the time and savings to treat myself to a trip in First from Hong Kong to Heathrow and back next year. These types of reports are also especially useful in deciding which lounges to visit on the trip. I am looking forward to it.

No kidding, those airplane engines spooling up are like sleeping pills to me! I almost nod off just watching some of these videos that have good engine sounds on them!
Yes, it is. And BA have subtle reminders of Concorde across their products, including on the furniture in the Concorde Room, the fabric used in New First, the heraldic crest and so on.
So weird to look at this video. I was one of the many workers building Terminal 5 from when it was just a hole in the ground...and I'm from Cape Town! Buzzy! But its awesome to see how the fisnished job looks now!!
Liked the video very much. Did the same flight in 2010 on RTW trip in business and really liked the comfort and quite up there with wide space for storage the made it feel big. I will be flying for the first time in first on an international flight from London to Chicago in BA 777. Hope it is the new configuration but excited either way. Thanks again and happy travels.
Plus when you're traveling to either O'Hare or Midway from your home, it was discovered that leasing a limo is far better than paying through the roof on a taxicab.
Nice video. I recently flew to Delhi BA First. I had previously thought that First is nicer than Club it wasn't worth paying more for but, after flying out First and back Club, it is definitely much nicer. Both are great ways to fly but, First is significantly more luxurious. It was a free upgrade so, I can't say if it's worth the extra money but, it was amazing. This was on a 777. I think the seat was less bed-like and more seat-like than I remember from last time (on a 747) but, very comfy.

Such great pinpointing of what is involved in first class flight.What I love even more is that only a few decades ago this flight was only availble ot the well-off and took a week to complete...although I have this kind of experience on my bucket list, the old ways would ahve beaten it hands down for sure!
I'd like to see more of the seating -- like show the bed fully opened and laid, and a bit of the little knick knacks and whatnot that you have around (cool gadgets and storage spaces and the vanity case you're given and so forth) So we can REALLY immerse in the experience ;)
I used to work for BA as a cabin crew member, and yes. SO much rudeness! But then again, even greater number of passengers showing respect and being very polite and fun to interact with. I never flew long haul, but some flights were 5-6 hours anyway. The best was when a kid told her mother off due to the stupid cow´s rudeness, the kid was about 12 years, mum was in her 40´s. Haha... Kid was fine, mum was... have no words... :)
They landed at Langabaan when flying to Cape Town in those days of the flying boats. Langabaan is a calm lagoon of turquoise water, sheltered from the Atlantic. It is a long way from the city which I guess was done by road.
I prefer the B747 lufthansa first class because you get a seat and a bed at the same time, very awesome flight when I flew back to Los Angeles (my lovely home town) on december 2013
Turbulence is a normal part of flying and quite common... just like bumps in the road when you are in a car. Sometime you hit patch of air that can use a little "repaving." Turbulence is the same in all parts of the plane, although I sometimes tend to think you feel it more in the tail. Enjoy your flight and Happy Birthday.
I had to laugh. I just finnished watching tinker, tailor, soldier, spy this evening. Noticed that was what you were watching on your mac. Great movie even if i wasn't watching in whilst in first class. The nearest i got was my wife brough me a beer and threw a packet of crisps at me for dinner....... ;-) cheers
Yes, BA's new First cabin feels much more modern - it's all leather stitching and everything with no fake wood in sight! A bit like a new Bentley vs an old Jaguar!
I LOVEEE THIS VIDEO.. I love how there's no commentary and that the videographer allows the video documentary to unfold.. Now, I can't afford 1st Class on BA, however, on American Airlines is a different story. I might do the same thing on my journey to the Carribean!! 0_^
T5 is great. It didn't start well (I don't think new terminals ever do) but it's now past that and a great place to travel from. Especially the lounges which are excellent for premium passengers.

I flew from Cape Town to Amsterdam that same day, the worst flying conditions I've ever experienced! The Air France plane bounced more than a 4 year old on a space hopper.

You're probably right there, the difference between Club and First on BA is now pretty slim. But there would appear to still be a market for the latter, particularly from London - USA.
Roughly 5500 pounds. Depends on how much in advance the flight was booked. Usually when you travel to other countries you tend to lose weight due to the different food and portion sizes. Morning papers are delivered as early as 11:30 P.M. the night before. Depending on when the flight took off, and it could have been and old paper from the previous day(also depending on when the flight was scheduled to leave)
We were flying in November so the weather was pretty bad over the Med, and also the ITCZ (inter-tropical convergence zone) between the cold air of the northern hemisphere winter hits the hot air of the southern hemisphere summer and makes turbulence..
first class check in is available to gold card holders. it is the concorde lounge that is privately reserved for first passengers or those with a invite only black card # knowledge

The new BA first is even better.... This was a nice cabin but very tired in the end.

No, the First cabin on the 747 is in the nose section. Business Class is on the upper deck of the 747 on BA.

Great video and on this route BA is also using the Boeing 777-200.
the nose of the 747 bounces about quite a bit in turbulence - the smoothest place to sit us above the wings.

Knives and forks of metal 7:49! When I flew Concorde in 2003, the knives and forks were made of plastic, for savety.
