old school boards are for more than just bowls
Big boards are what we skated in the streets before the oval boards we skate today came along. The refined “street” shape is a godsend, no doubt. But I still fucks with big boards when I’m in the mood.

I like watching Ace, he looks like an ordinary skater but he's doing tricks that aren't thought of much. Makes it look really fun and real.
Those 80's shapes are hard to skate my friends. It isn't the width that makes it difficult its the lack of a nose. I had a psycho stick and a Cab reissue. Made me really respect 80's skating even more.
I’ve skated a roskopp face, a vision double deck , a dog town Scott oyster , in the 80s
I like 9's. I use a 9 or bigger usually. That Cab board and the psycho stick were both 10's with literally no nose whatsoever. The psycho stick 2 had a nose though. I have blunt fakies on lock, like just woke up first thing on lock, but I couldn't do them on those boards because it just felt like the board cut off too fast and my foot would come off so I'd just yank out. It has advantages in some areas but also makes certain tricks harder to do or just not doable at all, especially in street. I had the dopest front smith grinds with that Cab deck and some white ribs though.. I could just sit on em and do seat belt smith grinds and other grab variations.. I actually kinda wanna get another now that I'm thinking about it haha.
Nose slides, front and back 180's, noseblunts, body jars, crooked grinds, overcrooks, nosegrinds... all of those are either far more difficult or just not possible on a board that only has a few inches of nose. Skating since the 80's has progressed by lightyears and part of the reason for that is the evolution of the shape and design of skateboards.
brandon veach you are right, but lot of pros now are using boards old school shaped , ore close to.
Especially in concrete disciplines.

Yeah actually, I think he's riding an old-school shaped board with boardrails and the other setup is just your regular popsicle shaped deck, so dope to see him shredding both boards and styles, definitely one of my favourite skaters now
I think one of the boards is actually a Misfits X Zero board judging by the red edges and graphic
@@jesseywallerdiemont9911 One of those old school boards might be a Misfits X Zero Legacy board yes. The shape looks like it. However there are (way) more than 3 boards he's riding. There's one with the old school shape, a popsicle with green bottom, a bowl board with a griptape with a line across, a bowl board that is green white at the bottom, a popsicle board with grey / white bottom and white circle on the griptape, another old school board with a red grip tape thing on top. Heck we may be talking dozens of boards he's using here. He also breaks at least one.
