But Mike, you know that any ticket you deal with means $$ in your doggie funds? Anyway in the area of upstate NY where I live , there is different rules for tinted windows for example, A vehicle is unlikely to be stopped for that violation depending on what section of the city that vehicle resides at and if the occupants are African American they are overlooked because the whole police department is afraid of getting killed, I know that it's not right but that's how NY state rolls enjoy your weekend and stay safe

I can get tint that is too dark out on my car, toss on a hood screen I bought, illegal to have ON the car, and maybe lights illegal to use. You can buy a slim Jim that unlocks cars or some lock picks. The sell is legal, once you possess it, if not a locksmith or maybe a tow driver, you are violating California law. For added fun, in California, Naphtha is illegal. lighter fluid, which is Naphtha, is legal.
Yes, you can go into a tint shop and, this is in my experience so maybe not every state, and get tinting how you want it and get pulled over and ticketed. Illinois requires 50% in most vehicles, for front side-windows, subject to certain medical exemptions. , Florida is more lenient at only 28% front and 15% rear.

I think that they all drove their cars to the parking lot, and parked a distance away from each other (probably all 4 corners). Then they all sat in one car, and started setting off their car alarms, which is what drove the police to them in the first place. That's why the cop was so pissed. Had them running all over the parking lot checking those car alarms as they went off, thinking how funny it was watching those cops. He wanted someone else to take his keys and get someone to drive his car home, but the cop said "Nope. Those keys are coming with him". Being a smart-ass, singing at the top of his lungs, backtalking to cops, he deserved exactly what he got.

Scene #1 - Cop: "Your car's tints too..." [interrupted before sentence complete]
Einstein: "It's not my tint, so why am I in handcuffs?"
Cop: "Because the vehicle is being operated by you."
    Einstein: "That don't make sense.."
Cop: "Oh sorry, it made sense to me so I guess I'm wrong. You're free to go!"
Scene #2 - Cop: "You have a pound of cocaine in your car..."
Dopehead: "It's not my cocaine, so why am I in handcuffs?"
Cop: "Because the vehicle is being operated by you."
    Dopehead: "That don't make sense.."
Cop: "Oh sorry, it made sense to me so I guess I'm wrong. You're free to go!"
*The joke here is...this has become pub fodder. We laugh about it over a beer. It's truly a laughing matter how Americans have become and the reason is simply because of their 'freedom' to behave as they want disrespecting the laws, the law enforces and anyone in authority. It's called Freedom of Speech! You'll never ever find this kind of behaviour in the worst of the worst 3rd World countries!*

We use window tint a lot in Texas because of the Heat. But if you buy it from a legitimate shop, they know the law and how dark it can be. Fun fact. Back in the day. Tony Dorsett ( running back for the Dallas Cowboys) used to drive around town in his Mercedes. All of the windows were tinted except the driver side window, so you could see him. Great running back but he was a character

Greetings MIKE of the Family LAW TALK, I have a prescription (for medical hardware or apparatus) for window tint on my front windshield. It's to block UV, but I have chosen the lightest value possible to be effective, which isn't that dark. But I totally agree with you that the black or can't see out on a sunny day tint is a RED flag for police. And I am ok with that. Cheers.

Tint can be useful Mike. Someone with eye problems can get a tint waiver because the tint protects their eyes from the bright sun. Tint can also protect the interior of the vehicle from getting sunbaked and cracking or fading. BUT, criminals do use it to help conceal illegal activity.

My windows are tinted but I looked up the law in Texas before I had it done to stay within the law. If i get pulled over my windows go down so they can see in the interior when they walk up. Got 5% on my back windows for privacy. Could've gone 20% on my front side windows but went 34%.completely legal in Texas. Never been pulled over in 2 years since I got it. Did it to cool the interior and privacy for packages in the back seat.

I live in TN literally 5 min from the VA state line (Scott County, VA) and we are allowed a darker tint than VA. Living so close and y’all’s sales tax being almost half of ours, we go across the line quite often. I have known several ppl who have gotten pulled over for tint in VA. Idk about recently but when I was a teen and early 20’s it was a scary thing to drive thru Weber and Gate City. I have always had tint bc the summer here is SO hot & it really does help keep the car cooler. I understand the reasoning in VA tho. Tho mine has never been hella dark, but story about the Female Trooper is so sad. And scary. U never know what’s going on behind a dark window.

Yep, this is my one issue with excessive window tinting. I like tint. I like the look of it from the outside and I like the bit of increased privacy that it provides. (you can have clutter in your car and it's not all on display.) But it is already dangerous enough when an officer has to approach a car not knowing who is in it and what they're about.. I can totally see how much worse it is if the officer can't see into the car at all. Even just as a civilian heavily tinted cars creep me out if I have to walk near them for just that reason.. you don't know what the hell may be going on in there.

Don't have nothing in your hands when you get out of the car. Don't have a vape. Don't have any smokes. Don't have any cell phones. Don't have any kind of adult toys. Don't have any kind of (insert item name here) a cop can look at that and he might think knife or gun or some other kind of weapon
In Kentucky for a 4 door it's Front Side windows: Must allow more than 35% of light in. Back Side windows: Must allow more than 18% of light in. Rear Window: Must allow more than 18% of light in. Breaking this law in Kentucky is a Class B misdemeanor.
We had my mom's Windows done. The installer I've been doing windows for 10 years plus. He had a copy of the Kentucky State tinting laws and he went over the laws with us. She was stopped once and the cop paperwork from the tint installer cop told her that he'd actually had three of his own personal vehicles done by the guy so she was good.
