The only thing to add to this excellent instructional video is . . . Practice! Practice! Practice! This not only provides the "muscle memory" benefit from drills, but also the flexible mindset needed when things don't go quite as planned.
Lol i i was once doorgunning for an MED-EVAC chopper at an Co~50 Event and the LZ used in the first example(the farm), was our LZ aswell. It was pure chaos and we nearly lost our Main Rotor. :D
Interesting, the number of things I wouldn't have thought about on my own but seemed like common sense once I heard you say them. Especially the part about dismounting and moving downhill on a steep slope. Dslyecxi, I know you've got plenty of footage as a Littlebird pilot getting your helo shot down and having to hoof it for rescue, but how often would you say you've been a passenger who's had to defend an impromptu LZ for a downed bird?
Hey great video! Im loving these types of vids. Whats your opinion on a possible fast rope mod? If done correctly would you see it a viable option to shacktac? Keep up the amazing vids man!
stranger Z I haven't seen many instances in Arma where fast roping would be a necessary insert method. In most situations it's not needed - you often have to really try to force it to make it a reasonable option. If there was a very well done, slick, easy-to-use fastrope mod that made it fast and smooth, I'd consider it. I haven't seen one yet though.
If it's possible, in the event that there is an injury which has occurred, should I try and quickly grab the person out of the heli and run to cover or leave him there to die? Perhaps the heli is noticeably damaged only "slightly" in the case of an auto rotation, which option should I consider? Thanks, love your videos! Very informative.
Can I ask a perhaps somewhat sensitive question? In "Hop, Skip, and a Jump - Arma 3 Aerial Route Security", at about 27 minutes into the video, you got shot down when doing an extract from a roof. The extract was delayed for many seconds and you actually spent roughly 20 seconds on the "ground".... well, on the roof, and just as you took off your Littlebird was hit by enemy fire, at least 3 people died... Too what extend do you "blame" the guys that chose not to board a.s.a.p. but to instead fire into the distance, the guy who chose to "become" an obstacle and the general confusion when boarding the helo? Is this something that you talk about during debriefs, or is this a "shit happens" scenario? Or is that the reason these VTTP videos are born? ;)
Erik Hägglund I blame the action menu for the bulk of that, and afterwards I created a mod (that I'm still refining) which gets around those issues entirely, especially with the Littlebirds. I've been busy on various things lately and haven't created videos from the most recent sessions we've played with that feature, but I plan to in the near future. You can see chkilroy using it in his "Leapfrog" video, here: ua-cam.com/video/AVdN3A8T9Wg/v-deo.html
***** I had already looked at that video but had to go back to it now to recheck. Did they really jump onto the heli by just walking into it? That would make it much faster to mount.
Erik Hägglund and how do they choose their position? If I recall correctly, in a recent video dsly specifically asked the ARs to mount on the front just curious ;)
Nice, missed your educational content for ArmA situations. On a different note: Do you have any clues on what might change hardware usage wise with the DX12 upgrade (next year)? Is there any concern for you regarding the usage of multiple threads? I've read many concerns over the last few days that the ArmA engine still might not fully utilize your hardware while my understanding of DirectX12 is very different in the way of: If you truly recoded your engine to DirectX12 it should automatically gain the ability of using your CPU and multi-GPU systems more efficiently. Since the backlash I got was quite extreme in some cases I'm wondering if I actually did miss something important?
Hi dslyexi! awesome tutorial man! just question, what kind of uniform/wests/helmets/backpacks are u using in this tutorial? can't seem to find them anywhere! Thanks in advance!
Hey Dslyecxi! I need to make French subtitles for a group of people I play with, they like your video and wished most of our community could understand it. Since I'm going to translate it for them, do you want a transcript of what you're saying to replace the terrible automatic youtube subtitles with those? Thanks for the vid. o7
Out of curiosity, for these kinds of videos, are all the ground troops scripted and what-not scripted in these scenes? Or do you actually get ST members to help you make these videos?
Lol i just bothered for the first time to try and buffer 4k (can't stream 1080p, but i can stream 720p) loaded a single frame of 4k for this video and it right away looked like a regular in-game screenshot of me playing a regular game at 1080p 1- Holy shit, that puts the compression into perspective 2- We really need better internet speed in the US.... Google Fiber? Where art thou?
s3rg11 From time to time I do, but not Arma. 60fps is a beast - much greater raw filesize, much greater rendered filesize. Even with as much HDD space as I have, it's just not practical to do - and uploading it is another factor that makes it hard to justify.
Your videos like this are so well made that I find myself watching them even though I don't even play Arma
Been a subscriber for a while now and still love the work your doing :) always informative, purposeful and of course fun to watch. Keep going :)
Good stuff. Love those videos.
Awesome content, this will be great for my buddies that just started playing Arma 3. Thanks alot!!
Thanks Dslyecxi, very informative!
Great tutorial, thx Dslyecxi

These videos make me wish I had more opportunity playing this game in multiplayer...

Wow I'm fast😂😎32nd like
They should put Ospreys in Arma, especially for missions with alot of guys

***** You can also see CHKilroy jumping out before the pilot says to and taking some fall damage in the process. :-D
***** How does that work, you get mounted when your player touches the helicopter? Is it the same for any vehicle?
Erik Hägglund and how do they choose their position? If I recall correctly, in a recent video dsly specifically asked the ARs to mount on the front
just curious ;)
What mod is the helmets the units wearing in the video?

NiSsieInc I'm pretty sure they're RHS's US side, but I could be wrong
NiSsieInc These are RHS.
oh alright! do you guys gave any download link for that?
Thank you very much good sir!

I've done mostly of it, I just don't get what you say exactly at 2:06. I'm currently translating and could send my work if you want to put subtitles.
Thanks, I heard something like "killer strike", gonna correct my translation then.
I'd be happy to link the translation if anyone needs it

FrankieHustla This is a one-man-band production, noone else involved.
***** God damn. Had me fooled good then. The little movements and how they scan areas look much more authentic than traditional AI. A+ job!
***** can you share with us about how to do like this authentic scanning AI? I thought that was human. :D
iOS App Bug Hunter Probably BIS_fnc_UnitCapture for each and every unit. That's some tedious work!
@Dslyecxi How we can translate audio or subtitles if we cant rehosting vídeo? We can translate video and send you to rehost?
Thought the acronym at the video start read 'v π p' and was confused for a sec.
By chance will you be using ACE3 that just came out?
Rachel Wright At some point, sure.
Dsl - perhaps an unrelated question, but what mod are you using that allows the PEQ-15 and Surefire to be mounted at the same time?
Madbrood It's gear from RHS.
***** I haven't seen two barrel attachments mounted simultaneously before though?
Madbrood It's just the model. There's scripted functionality to swap between a laser and a flashlight setup, but it visually looks the same.
***** I just had a look - I never saw those models before. Duh. Thanks!
Whats Patreon?

Ian Horne Its a really easy way to support content creators like Dslyecxi. Totally worth my $5 a month!
What's the soundtrack? Sounds a bit like some of the ArmA OST remixed
Richard Bladykas It's tracks from the A3 soundtrack, mixed a bit differently.
Any links or anything? They sound great, and btw awesome video
***** It's really good, is this another in-house production?

Are you able to disclose the bgm you use?
BGM?
Background music. Really enjoying the detail of these videos btw.
It should all be Arma tracks. Some are slowed down/lowpassed IIRC.
