Deep in the South Pacific, a tumultuous and untamed new continent has erupted, spawned by a highly unstable new element, known as Phaeta-7. If this powerful new element could be controlled, whoever possessed it would be the undisputed ruler of the world! One man, General Lucas Plague, is determined to hold that title. And it's up to a rugged team of mountaineering experts, led by Commander Mike Summit, to stop him. Employing revolutionary new gravity-lock and laser-cable technology to traverse the ever-changing terrain of the High Frontier, Mike Summit's Sky Commanders, and General Plague's Raiders, are locked in mortal combat, with the fate of the entire world hanging in the balance! That narration heralded the arrival of a Sci-Fi show that truly boasted sky high action, depicting the battles of a group of hi-tech climbers against a terror militia for control of the planet in this complete 2-Disc, 13-Episode Collection.
Directed By Ray Patterson
Starring Charlie Adler, Richard Doyle, Paul Eiding

Sky Commanders! Where the fate of the world is hanging by a thread!
All I remember about this show is guys zip lining from place to place.
exactly
Me too
yep
Hahahaha me too
sounds like death stranding
the game does have zip line
The name of song is Turn On The Night, performed by Steve Mcclintock.
Not on spotify
Thanks!
Thank You for the recommendation 😊 ☺️
I should look 👀 it up ⬆️. And find it.
@@kascnef it's available on Spotify also...
I went from Centurions to Visionaries to Spiral Zone just to remember
what cartoon had that dumb concept of everyone hanging from a
clothesline. And I've finally found this video. It's been a long
journey.
Cable Car: The Series
Mike Summit, general Plague... The names weren't exactly subtle. X-D
If i was named Lucas Plague, I'd probably want to take over the world too.
One episode of GI Joe had Dr. Lucifer and Prof. Attila. 80s cartoons were rarely subtle *lol*
80's cartoons were never subtle.. And that was the beauty of it...
Or get drafted into the Mutant Football League as a Linebacker.
Tends to happen with supervillains. Batman's first two arch-enemies were Dr. Death and Hugo Strange, the Centurions fought Doc Terror, the Captain Planet villains, etc. Even in other countries: the villain of 1972's Mazinger Z was named Dr. Hell, whose minions included Baron Ashura, whose body was half man/half woman, and Count Brocken, a cyborg whose head wasn't attached to his body.
I've been trying to figure out what this was called forever.. and boom it just popped into my head. I'm soooo damn happy I found it
same for me! I remember the toys and show but not the name
Same story !
I would love to see this made into a live action movie. It would look hilarious and the plot would drive people crazy.
Indeed.
the late danny dark doing narration there. i know he also did superman on the superfriends and wss the nbc announcer for a little bit in the 80s
Do you know what? I heard his voice on the LA Metro subway train- it’s possible his voice was captured and replicated through AI to recreate his voice. Hear it here.
One of the underrated cartoons back in the day..
My childhood. This show rocked.
Heh, this show feels more like something by Marvel Productions instead of Hanna-Barbera, what with the Japanese animation by Toei (who worked with Marvel on numerous shows) and the sound effects (Marvel often used H-B's sound effects a lot in the 80s.)
The Sky Commanders cartoon is owned by WB, So...
When will Sky Commanders get added to Jellystone ?
@@harrygray999 Probably not, since that show focuses on the more comical H-B characters and franchises, even if they included Jonny Quest and Hadji.
@@ZakWolf Other H-B franchises that need to be referenced in Jellystone ( if it ever gets a season 3 ) are:
- Jana of the Jungle
- Trollkins
- Challenge of the GoBots
- The Berenstain Bears ( 1985-1987 )
- Foofur
- Timeless Tales from Hallmark
- Fantastic Max
- Fish Police
- Capitol Critters
- Lost in Space ( 1973 animated adaptation )
- Rock Odyssey ( 1987 )
- Once Upon A Forest
- The Halloween Tree
- Star Fairies ( 1985 )
and The Greatest Adventure: Stories from the Bible.
@@ZakWolf I wonder why Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang aren't going to appear in Jellystone.
@@george-nu5nr, because Warner Bros. usually separates Scooby-Doo and the Flintstones from the rest of the Hanna-Barbera family. But the Creeper DID appear in one episode as a security guard, and the Great Gazoo has appeared in a few episodes, too.
This animation is cutting edge and so is the music
I saw this on boomeraction
I finally found it after more than 30 years. Couldn't remember the name of the cartoon. All I knew was the cables they used to travel through mountains.
Locked in Mortal Kombat!!!!!
This show was the Bomb!
Damn.. i feel SO old now.. 😑
Narrated by the SuperFriends' Superman, Danny Dark
And NBC announcer in the 80's
Up, up... and AWAY!!!!!!!
Ah, you're right. He does sound an awfully lot like George Buza though (Compare with Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors and XMen: The Animated Series on FOX).
@@dnds4 Who the heck is Danny Dark??
@@thefantasticretroreviewer3941 The voice of Superman from 'Superfriends'.
Hannah Barbara joins Toei Animation in [1987], non-Anime cartoons.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Sky commanders wow this bring me back plus I feel so old now laughing out loud. Oh boy I had every single Sky Commander action figure when I was a young kid/teenager. I was just thinking maybe they can do it and maybe they can't or maybe it would be a good idea or maybe a bad idea. But what I was thinking of in a way how cool would it be for them to do an actual live action movie of Sky Commanders. Bringing it to life and putting it at the movie theaters. In a way I also think if they had the right people that to play the characters and the right script. Then just maybe Sky commanders can be a cool and Fantastic live action movie. I suggest Maybe it all depends. I mean look what they did to the Transformers brought that to Life as a live-action movie and then they did GI Joe brought that to life and made that in to alive action movie as well. Also can I forget about He-Man they did that one and turn into live action movie. So why not Sky Commanders.
I can't believe I never heard of this cartoon before in my life.
I also can't believe Hanna-Barbera made this cartoon, which is great.
I hope the Sky Commanders will appear in season 3 of Jellystone !
@@george-nu5nr I gotta check out the entire series soon.
Sky Commanding Your Mom!
here in Baltimore this aired every Sunday morning on the Funtastic World Of Hannah Barbara on WNUV TV 54
Michael Jones Jr. I remember the station too! Independent TV! LOL
Channel 29 Fox here in Philadelphia!
0:05 That's a nice foreshortening trick they did there!
Summit's thinkin', "Man, who do I pawn this hot potatah off ta? I know, I'll git these wahoos to do it for meh!" Who wants ta be brave?
0:41-0:47 WooHOO! Ah jus' killed a guy on a kid's show! Aw don't worry, it don't count' if it's jus' a cartoon."
I love the matte paintings of the backgrounds! Never loved making them myself, but they're pretty to see.
The atmosphere and feel of this intro feels a lot like a Ralph Bakshi Fire and Ice (1983). While the matte paintings of the environments don't compare to Frank Frazetta's , they do come close and inspire that look.
Sounds great! Like Stan Bush composed this score.
I agree with you.
Mooortal Kombaaaat!
Noo no noo you do it is like this
DENVERRRRRR BRONCOOOOOS
"Test your line (zip line)."
Love this Cartoon
Thank you so much for this. My mind is driving me nuts trying to figure out the title of this classic cartoon.
Why is that 80’s cartoons had the coolest intro. “SKKKYYY COMMANNNDERSS”
just remembered this cartoon today and the intro is as crazy as i semi remember watching the show as a kid.
Better GI Joe
Same animation studio-- TOEI Animation.
Animated by toei
Fucking epicness
So, most 80's cartoons were shameless toy commercials, of that everyone can agree. This was the most shameless.
Naw....g.i.joe was the most shameless by far. For gijie, it wasn't enough to just sell the figures....they were constantly pushing kids to buy these huge expensive military vehicles. For gijie, the figures were actually loss leaders.
That said, sky commanders isn't much better....it was just a hell of a lot less successful at selling toys.
The Head writer of the show was Jeff Segal a man who would take over the head of Universal Animated Studios and be credited with creating Exosquad years later.
Possibly the only show where mountaineers are superheroes....
...I'd say 'definitely' the only show. That is, unless you want to count the movie Cliffhanger (which, by the way, is awesome).
Design of a rocket propelled Jet wing pack today was from one of the enemies of Sky commanders
En mi país, esta serie de dibujos animados se exhibió dentro del programa Nubeluz en su primer año (1990). El título en español es «Comandos del aire».
Walk in mortal combat before mortal kombat was a game
Hero squad of super mountain climbers... flying around in jets.
Porpoise Power Lol!
an amazing series from my childhood
Of course he has to have the name Mike Summit.
comando ,military law ,antillery airbase range canada
It was kind of silly when these guys use to fight hanging from a metal line and volcano lava below and everybody lived to fight another day. 80s was something for me as a kid.
Beast Wars had a bunch of unpopular villains get unceremoniously melted to death in lava at the end of the first season, but you probably couldn't get away with that happening to humans every other episode.
@@tartrazine5 yup
Military industrial complex propaganda
Ok, so it's a mix of Attack On Titan and GI Joe? Hell, I'd watch it ;p
Who else came here from Robot Chicken?
Lol didnt question it as a kid, but why are they on ropes.
SL twentyeight because it’s cutting edge technology lol at least that’s what the preview video said🤣🤣
It was the only way they could travel. The terrain below was too unstable.
I recognized sky commanders in cartoon network since I was little boy when it came out!
The narrator sounded like Superman from the Superfriends
Yes, that is Superman himself, voice over artist Danny Dark. He also did most of the VO's for NBC promos in the 70's through the '90's, in addition to many commercials.
Centurion meets G.I. Joe.
I was introduced to Sky Commanders thanks to Robot Chicken. So every time I see it I imagine one of the characters saying "Yee ha, Sky Commanding your Mom!"
Yet another cartoon I don't remember anything about. Only remember this was on right after The Snorks on The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera on Saturday mornings.
Desenho fantástico e inesquecível.
Simplesmente ñ dá praassistir friends!!! Ô seriado ridículo!!! Retirem isto da grade!!!
When did this come out?
Ohh my childhood. Followed by mighthor
This toyline and cartoon deserves a reboot!
I agree.

hanging in the balance
So I went out to walk the dog and came home and youtube autoplay had been on and somehow ended up halfway through an episode of something called 'Beauty and the Beast' with Linda Hamilton and I think maybe Ron Perlman was in there as the ...beast or lion man or whatever the fuck that thing was. And there was a scene with Linda and she was talking to some black dude and he had a collection of ninja paraphernalia stuck to his wall. And damn did that black dude ever look familiar, so I was trying to remember who he was...then POW I remembered he was eightball in full metal jacket. So I went on IMDB and looked him up and his name is Dorian Harewood. I was looking through his credits and saw one from 1987 that said 'sky commanders' and for some reason that name stuck out to me (no idea why) so I clicked on it and there was very little info cept a basic plot summary and it was listed as animated....I said to myself 'damn, I bet that is some total dogshit, cliche 1980s Saturday morning cartoon that got dropped after the first season'. So I came to youtube to see if there was an opening credits or a clip from this forgotten show and guess what I found? Aids.
This is my childhood cartoons
i love his gun you know what i mean
arm cartucho
Who had the toys but your parents hated them because they were strung up all over the furniture?
i love the cartoons, i love the action figures and I would love to see this turn into a live-action movie or even a live action tv series, for sure.
The show and toys failed so that's never going to happen.
I loved this cartoon I was 10yrs old when it came.out
Who had the toys?
I did lol
Yuna (( ME ))
Not me, i made my own. Using old cassette motor, aa batteries and gi joe figure.
Awesome 👍😉
I can see why the toys failed. The intro is the coolest thing about this whole idea. The episodes themselves are mid.
How do you make an action cartoon around zip lining?
Maybe the real Phaeta 7 was the friends we made along the way.
0:03 SKY 🌌 COMMANDERS!
*🤯🐍Snakes!🐍😱*
I'd truly hate poisonous snakes!
Way to much info for intro.
That was the standard for most 80s cartoons. He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe had a similar exposition heavy intro, as did Dungeons And Dragons.
Get that theme in Info for the NFL Team Broncos is Mortal Kombat more like

Epic to the maximum!!!!!
this show sucked..
Hot Wire!!!!
i love the show
Brian Curry, Me, 2 personally!
fun toys. crap show
I dunno, I thought this show sucked compared to others
I agree. This didn't have any memorable characters, compare to Thundercats, M.A.S.K., Silverhawks, Spiral Zone, and The Real Ghostbusterrs.
OperationEndGame Also, their music - including especially the theme song - was crap compared to the other shows. I didn't like their lame gimmick of the laser-cables. Most of their stuff didn't fly around freely, and they were often stuck sliding down a rope. That made combat very linear.
I don't think Sky Commanders sucked but it wasn't the most memorable show. I think it tried too hard to be a Centurions/M.A.S.K. hybrid and didn't bother coming up with better characters and stories. To me, the best thing about it was that Toei did the animation for the show and I did like the theme.
Megared82 The other thing was that this show came along later in the game, after there were already so many action cartoon shows out there. So again it was hard for them to look and feel original, and that made it seem rather generic to me.
Cool
most boring show ever
Well, at least the animation is good.
Would've rocked had Toei overseen the writing of the show. The intro shows mortal combat but when you bring Hanna Barbera in to do the series, you get a non sequitur.
Show was crap
lamont major, straightforward.. Lmao.
