Ferrari has lost its way in the last few years. The 296 is a V6, If I want a V6 I'll go and buy something different like a flat 6. They do not have a good looking car in production at present. All ugly and only made for posers.

Put a V12 in an SUV but a V6 in a halo car. Ferrari has really lost its spirit. Plus the design just isn't pretty enough, like most modern Ferraris.

I watched the videos on it this morning, thought to myself I didn't hate it, didn't love it, didn't care for it having a V6 and immediately forgot about it. But, I just got rid of a '23 LT1 with a manual and got a 5.7L plum crazy Challenger. Yep, I've had 2 Corvettes in the past and a Scat Pak as well. Always bought American "made" cars. Now at 70, I need a comfortable car I don't have to pull myself out of and don't need to go 140MPH with my butt dragging on the road. I just love the engine sound of this 5.7L Challenger, with a manual of course. Give me that old fashion pushrod motor, big iron block and enough torque to satisfy any situation I'm in. The problem is different - we are at peak car technology. Holly grail of old, the 1000 bhp tuned car, are now available as stock super cars, even normal cars with zr1 example.
You can’t go faster on the road and there is no need for v10/v12 existence, if turbo v8 gets 1000bhp.
Performance? You can’t beat 4x4 wit hybrid assist. Electrics are the fastest on drags on the streets.
Agility? BMW m3 can do a lot, 911 gt3 even more. Why buy Ferrari for track driving?
And now the big question: who would by an expensive exotic v12 car that is no faster then r6/v8 cars, can’t turn quicker etc
Hyper cars were always primarily fast and now what?

If the halo Ferrari hypercar looks like it was designed by an intern at matel toys, it's a problem. That and it having a v6 hybrid... I do not care if the power train won Lemans... blah blah don't care. Hypermarket should be a showcase of craftsmanship, and sate the desire for the an amazing high strung exotic motor. The path of development of the modern supercar is leading towards a dead end. With where they are currently - you keep hearing guys like Matt Farah say "I can't believe this is something you can just go out and buy" and so on. But for how much longer can they keep the arms race going, how much faster and crazier can they keep making these cars? At some point they're just going to be undriveable at the limit by anybody other than the test drivers.
Still looking forward to watching a video of W1 vs F80 (maybe also throw a Chiron into the mix) on, like, carwow or something.

I don't think hybrid is the problem but the simple. La ferrari/p1/918 were cool but now they have gone tesla mode. New trio feels more like a numbers tech fest over passion and fast moving art. Looks are subjective but the f80 not having a proper passager seat... C'mon

The F80 is ugly, it has no feng shui.... and nobody who has the money for an F80 aspires to have a v6. The only supercar that gets away with a v6 is a Porsche 911 and an nsx. Sorry, its not about always about track times, HAD IT BEEN at least a twin turbo v8 hybrid. it would have made all the difference. And lets be honest a hybrid supercar is not "saving the planet". There's something to be said about post modernity and cars its turning them to sh$t.

Cars with hybrid power trains will have horrible residuals. They may stay high for a bit, but then they will crash. Who wants a car with a battery that's about dead? And then if it cost 30,000 to replace a battery on a Hyundai, imagine that on a Ferrari.

  • @nathandsouza7104
    @nathandsouza7104 6 годин тому

i disagree. Hybrids have nothing to do with hyper cars being boring; its just that cars aren't as interesting because manufacturers have to deal with emission laws and other government policies. If Gordon Murray built a hybrid, i wouldn't have a problem with it cause i know he designed the car to have the best driving dynamics. Also, coming to your point about the W1 having a low top speed, the car can easily do more than 218 mph, its just the manufacturers don't advertise it with a higher top speed. Infact, a LaFerrari went 230+ mph on the autobahn even though Ferrari had marketed it as having a top speed of 218

Everyone loved the looks of the F40 and F50. Then the Enzo came out, all the people on the forums were saying it was ugly. Then the LaFerrari came out and everyone said it looked too much like the Enzo.
Now most people say the Enzo is beautiful. I think people will be changing their minds when they see the F80 in person... Then in 10 years they'll say it's beautiful.
People said the Eiffel Tower was ugly too.
I do agree with most your points tho Rob. The hypercars of today have lost the passion. It's too scientific now. Especially the Ferrari's and McLarens.
With age everything just becomes shitty. 😂 Bahh humbug.
The Ferrari 355/Acura NSX/Lotus Espirt are my favorite automotive designs. Throw in the Gallardo Superleggera in there too.

I'm at a car show I frequent, some guy is driving out in his new Ferrari, dead silent. I thought the idea behind Italian cars was, "Look at me!". The first part of that is the sound of the engine, it's like removing the smells from an Italian restaurant.
For me there isn't a car made today I have any interest in. They are all boring, they can be the fastest thing on earth. I could care less, I look for things that are unique in styling. I do not see any of them that are, there is a reason. They all fall under the the same regulations. Which means everybody has to follow the same rules. The designers hands are tied, there is more to it than that. But in the end it means things are just going to stagnate. Which has been happening for a long time.
I'm older than you Rob, I remember when R&T and C&D. Would have something interesting on the cover. Today I don't even know if those guys are still around.
