    Sorry about your platen cracking but I appreciate learning it since I almost put a sticky mat on mine. I just tried Press'N'Seal and it worked. It worked almost too well on the first card so maybe I should have blotted it a bit beforehand.

      The brayer technique is so easy too for such a striking look. It is one I will be doing again for sure. I am thinking of doing a full background next. 🥰

    Thank you for making it real! Have to tell you, I have never done extra thickness and I have hairline cracks on all my corners. My hubby watched with me. We both love the bonus card with both hummingbirds the best. But, all the cards are beautiful.

      Thank you both for watching and for all your input and support :-) It is very possible from me not removing those shims underneath. With all the work we put these machines through it could just be extra tension on the plate that is causing that but I can totally see now why any extra thickness could cause this. I will remember in the future to remove any shims when using double weight paper as well. I am constantly doing a million techniques and projects at once so it is so easy for me to forget these little things. For now my plate still works and replacements are available so no major harm has been done but it was still a good reminder for us all ❤️

      @@melaniestamps I agree on the shims with the double weight paper. I do that as well. I guess I figured over time that it will happen. But --I will remember not to do what you did. I am sure with the number of cards that you do --it can easily happen. Keep up the good work!!! Love it! And, thanks for the reminder.

      You are so welcome. I a, so glad it has helped. Someone pointed out in the BetterPress Babes that I could of removed the three shims and possibly the cracks wouldn't of happened but who knows. I just know my new plate will be just be use as intended.

    What is the double weight betterpress spellbinders paper?

    • @melaniestamps
      @melaniestamps  8 місяців тому

      It is a thicker BetterPress paper that gives even more of an impression. It is available at Scrapbook dot com, here is the link. Make sure to remove the shims under the magnetic mat before using the reduce the stress on the platten. (((hugs))) shrsl.com/4h3km

    Sorry about your plate! I will definitely try this technique. I also like the card you made just now - I like the finer detail. Your bonus cards are also so nice!

      Thanks so much! Yes the finer detail along with the heavier brayer-ing really gave a nice look. I will be finishing that one as well :-)

    Gorgeous cards Melanie, my favourite is the last one you coloured with your coloured pencils.
    Sorry about your plate, it did make me wonder whether using the extra thick paper from spellbinders would do the same? Xx

    • @melaniestamps
      @melaniestamps  10 місяців тому

      From all the comments I have received I was reminded that I should have removed the extra shims underneath and that it is recommended to do that with the double thick paper from BP as well. I had completely forgot to do that both times so it was possibly user error as well here.

      @@melaniestamps I must admit I don't really think about the shims, as you say good reminder, thank you. Xx

    😮😢 Sorry for what happened to your planton. Lesson learned. Do you think you could use the Better Press plate using the goosh pad (don’t know the official name) with the cutting plates in the Platinum. Like embossing with cutting dies. Great technique and I love your cards! I like the last one the best. I have used Glimmer Plates in my Better Press without any problems. I even measured the depth of both and did not see any difference.

    • @melaniestamps

      Thank you for the kind comments on my cards. We might be able to use the plates in the Platinum but we just need to make sure not force the handle. If the sandwich seems to thick we need to adjust it.

    Just wondering could you use the plates for that system in a cuttle bug alone without the better press?

    • @melaniestamps
      @melaniestamps  9 місяців тому

      No these plates are not recommended in die cut machines alone, only with the BetterPress and hot foil. You could attempt to do a traditional letterpress impression with an embossing mat (old style) if one comes with your machine but I can't promise it would work.

    Not sure I understand you saying not to use glimmer plate. Did not see you using a glimmer plate.

    • @melaniestamps
      @melaniestamps  10 місяців тому

      I am sorry for the confusion, when I rewatched it this morning I had a feeling this question would come up so thank you so much for asking it. I did not use a glimmer plate but Spellbinders does tell us not to use Glimmer plates in out BetterPress machines due to it damaging our systems, mainly the plate cracking and it does void the systems warranty. The reason for this is because the glimmer plates are slightly thicker than the BP plates which makes the sandwich h thicker. I did not even thick this Sticky mat was enough to make the sandwich too thick for this to happen but my point was if these small cracks happen when using a squishy thin squishy sticky mat think what could happen using the glimmer plates. It is just a good reminder that Spellbinders is giving great advice and I'm glad this happened while recording so I could share it with others. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to reach out. I'm always here via comment, email, or Facebook. ❤️
