    Awesome instructions, easy to understand and good job welding. I started welding recently, I am in the process of learning for personal projects - actually very cool. Thank you for sharing! Subscribed!

    I just built a very similar hammock stand using similar, leftover tubing. Mine was 1+1/4 inch square, 1/8 wall. My guess is that it's roughly equivalent to the 1+1/2, approx. 1/10 inch wall tube shown in this video. Mine measures 10 foot exactly, hook to hook, so I guess a little bigger, which has an effect on the stiffness.
    It worked fine off the hop but yeah, a good few inches of deflection at the hooks under normal deadload plus moving around some in the hammock. Not confidence inspiring.
    I found that welding a long strip of 1/4 by 1+1/4 flatstock across the middle beam, and around the outside corners, greatly stiffened things up, and kept the flex out of the base so the feet don't move much when it's loaded.
    By the time you account for catenary forces, and dynamically applied loading, 1000lbs is a reasonable dead load equivalent that it might well see many times in it's lifespan.

    sir
    my hammock bed size is 6 feet
    plus 2.5 feet on each side for hook
    so total length 11 feet
    please suggest dimenions mentioned in the video are ok or i need to add inches to centre bar
    plus please tell me the 50 degrees concept how to measure 50 degrees i mean on which side 50degress to be measured

      You are correct, you will need to add length to the center bar. I would lay your side angled bars on the ground at 50 degrees and move them until the top distance is wide enough for your hammock. Draw 50 degrees on a piece of paper and have your side pieces follow the angle. Then you can determine the length of your center bar.

    How does this frame hold up to actual use? Does it flex at all? The support tabs don't look too hefty.

    • @DIYOnTheHouse

      It doesn't flex at all - the tabs and braces can be made longer if you want. But the frame is extremely sturdy.

    I can use 2"x1" sqr tube?

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  Рік тому

      It probably wouldn't be strong enough - I would suggest bigger tubing.

    i just bought a hammock, it’s about 9 feet long without the added chain, would these stand measurements work?

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  3 роки тому

      I would probably add 4" - 6" on the center bar - this one we made was 54" - since fabric stretches, that may be better.

    How about wooden stands? Here we have some woods which is very strong

    • @DIYOnTheHouse
      @DIYOnTheHouse  3 роки тому

      Should be good! We are in such a dry climate - our wood would dry out way too fast!

    0:20 $35?!!!! where did you find all that square tubing for $35? a single piece of 1"x48" tube costs about $15-45.

      Agree!! That was the price for it before the horrible spike in prices! We checked, and the price for it has almost doubled at our local steel supply.
