THANK YOU! I'm planning on customizing mine now that I have the whole set of figures and the firehouse! Im going for a more 1984 version! SO EXCITED TO GET THIS STARTED!
Normally I'd like to keep my toys as they are but when I first saw it out of the box I wasn't impressed and I was like this needs a customization, and there weren't any videos on it except yours so thank you for that. I didn't do much however I just wanted to make it look like the box
Oh boy JJ this one was fun! I like what cha did and what you chose to do it too! And yes I did learn a thing er two. Was gonna fix this year's crop of rust on Wifey's SUV. But instead,, I'm gonna cover the rolling turd in graphite, baby power, shoe polish and urine. Thanks JJ 👍
Did anybody else notice he had a rare variant of the box that the Ecto 1 comes in? The original box design had phoebe in her flight suit but they changed it to her normal outfit but if you look at the box he has the rare variant of the box!
Just bought one after viewing this video. Just painting the Metal parts wil do juat fine. I like the toy aspect it's tye right size for my vintage action figures.
Looks amazing- The close-ups on the stickers show that they weren't printed well / cut out- I'd recommend getting some cut out stickers- but that is so nitpicky- It looks amazing.
Thank you, I appreciate it! And yeah, I actually thought about upgrading the decals with some better ones, but ultimately figured I'd just go with what I had. Thanks for watching!
Great job. For the blue rubber hoses I covered them in modge podge and spray painted them blue.. then another coat of sealer and it looked great. Take a look at one of my latest stopmotions. Thank you!
Hi, Josh. What an awesome video! I've watched it a few times, and you inspired me to customize my own based on your process. It's turning out awesome!!! Thanks for the inspiration!
@@JustJoshinAround Thanks dude! I'm also considering doing an RC lighting kit on a cheaper Playmobil or something to see if I can get that right first.
Hey josh im starting to make my one for useing brown paint an i placed more brown paint on the hood an for the search lights i mixed some light blue an blue an for the lights for the front i used the same blue an light blue an i withered the back more an the side were the water want on it theres not much dirt on the side thank u for inspiring me❤❤❤❤❤
Hey, I just bought this toy, and i'm going to make it the Ecto 1a from ghostbusters 2. Im buying the stickers from the old kenner version, and making my own roof rack, and painting the entire thing. Wish me Luck!
Just bought this for my 7 year old son for Christmas as a surprise. Totally considering some of the paint mods to improve it into realism (may forego the rust treatment) Could you list what exact paints you used for the Silver, White, Graphite, etc.? Thanks!
Oh awesome! I used all Testors enamel paints - flat finish black, white, yellow, red, rubber and metallic silver and bronze. The powdered graphite is General's brand and it's Kiwi black shoe polish. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!
I know this is an old video, but I recently bought the new car from the new movie, and I wanted to try this out, was wondering what kinda paint was used! Would those lil acrylic paints from Wal-Mart work?
Oh cool! I used mainly Testors Model Masters Enamel paints, but they're unfortunately not being produced anymore. I would think that acrylics should work, though the car may need some extra prep first and/or sealing afterward. Not sure tho. Good luck!

Didnt get that far with mine. Just added some silver paint and painted that ugly white roof. Also painted the hoses as you did. Just left it unrusted for display and yes that plastic allowed me to correct a lot of stuff i did wrong
Hahaha, thanks. That's something I've been asked about before and I've really been thinking about the best, most effective way to do that. Not sure what to do yet Thanks again!
@@JustJoshinAround It was an emotional roller coaster for me from the beginning. Egon Spengler always was my favorite of the gang... seeing him come back to life to see him dissolve in the air at the end was a tear jerker

Could you customize the figures that go along with it to make them look more elderly?
That's a really cool idea, I'll have to look into that. And make some time to do it!
This wonderfull car!! Amazing job!! Súper cool ecto one!! Thanks for share!!

@@JustJoshinAround hello! I sent a couple of messages via IG in regards to possibly having one of these made for me. Thank you
I ❤ your video it's very important to me to make better decisions to paint my Ghostbusters frozen empire car
The car used to look so cartoony, now it looks realistic
Thanks!
You should make the Ghostbusters afterlife plasma series ecto 1 in to the one from the first movie 😂

Did you seal this with anything? Also was the testors paint you used acrylic or enamel?
I didn't end up sealing it, but the Testors paint that I used is enamel.
the tubes are suposed to be blue but that blue they used was way to light and its a lot darker
Oh thanks, yeah I thought they were definitely too bright. But that makes sense that they should just be a darker blue
It's cool but what about the windows
Thanks, I know, I should've done something with those
the hoses ARE meant to be blue, but they are darker in the movies than on the toys (i assume its for production purposes)
Gotcha
I Bought this in SM City for 1000 Pesos. I was originally gonna buy this in Lazada but it costs 700 more

How big is the car because the box is real small
Have you ever had a director call you before for a movie and tell you that they needed help to make a prop

Something about that toy is off to me maybe the roof is too flat and windows to high and thats why i pass on it even though its very affordable
It's hyper stylized, it's not meant to be an exact replica of the shape of the actual car dude. C'mon now
Exactly! Haha
It definitely has some strange proportions and shaping, but it's just part of the stylization
In my opinion the front is to short it looks of
The proportions are definitely a bit wonky, bit I just chalk that up to it being a stylized version
