Backett wouldn't be half good as she is without castle, He is like pink panther useless all the time but it's him who plays crucial role in solving mysteries
Come on ! it was always about team work. Beckett alone couldn't do a thing, she relied on Ryan and Esposito's research and legwork , and on countless uniforms to do canvassing and filtering. Castle alone was utterly useless - this can be seen in his P.I. days in S7-S8, when he usually shared results with the precinct. But TOGETHER they were nearly invincible. TEAMWORK - that was the name of the game.
The whole cast was exhausted physically and emotionally after 8 straight seasons. Mind you, many shows change heavily the the rooster after 5-6 seasons. Not so in Castle - it couldn't have happened, because the cast was (almost) stellar to begin with.
