I've been making copper roses from sheet and offcuts for the last couple of years, your video was one of the main influences to try making them. I find yours spectacular my friend, they have so much character and a high degree of quality, fantastic job. I just come here every so often to see how much you're still kicking my ass at making copper roses.
Cant believed I've been missing this video, ive been doing this by welding nuts and bolts then wrapping in wire strands for pedals and color - this is such a great idea, love the final product. Ill probably make a bouquet with steel nuts and bolt flowers and then a copper rose in the center...but im single again now so thats a project for another day - lol really enjoy your content, thanks for sharing, I greatly appreciate your ingenuity for challenges!
You make it look easy. How many of us have made a crappy looking rose after watching this video and left it a drawer in the garage instead of giving it to our loved one? Guilty.😁
Beautiful and VERY informative! Thank you for explaining as you go, I really enjoyed watching it! I may even try to make one myself. Thank you for sharing.
One thing of note to any noobie artists put there. Soft metals like copper and brass have a tendancy to grab at things like drill bits, saw blades, and wire wheels. Creating potential for injuries to occur. Personally I use vise grips or vices whenever possible to lessen the impact of such events when they occur. Using your hands to hold a sheet while you go at it with a drill press is asking for trouble eventually. It doesn't take much for the sheet to jerk out of your hand and helicopter up the drill bit and hack away at your digits until you get your hand out of the way. If you're lucky it only stings from the impacts if you're unlucky you will be trying to stem the blood flow with shop rags or trying to one handed open up your first aid kit while in pain. I've had to do both more than once thinking I'll just be more careful this time it's only one piece. Famous last words
I made one with a piece of 8mm pipe and used a pipe cutter to score a not so deep line. If you then hammer the end unto that it mushrooms out stopping at the scored line, you can then slip the petals and peen the inside of the "rose" where the pipe is with a conical punch. So there's no need for solder, plus pipe's cheaper than rod if you don't already have it. The same thing can be done with rod, but you'd need to drill it before hand.
Sweet vid. I've been making similar flowers for a while, but I thread the stem and add a small nut to sandwich the petals. I like your solution a lot better though- i might have to borrow that.
Thanks. I considered using a nut as you say, but wanted a more natural look so I gave this a try. It worked well, petals are nice and tight. Thanks for watching.
Nice. I replace my hot water baseboard heat, so I have a lot of copper tubing to doe something with. And I like the "John Gault" Tee shirt too. Just finished reading "Atlas Shrugged"
Beautiful work! I'm seriously considering crafting a similar rose, but with a small velvet or felt lined hollow within the petals to hold an engagement ring for when I propose to that special someone. :D
I absolutely love your videos. I have probly watched over half, but this is my first time commenting. How did you start learning all the different things you do? The sawmilling, building, everything else? I would like to learn some of these skills. My family just bought our own little 5 acre chunk of land. I have tons of plans for some similar projects to several of yours.
a while back i acquired some copper wire that size for stems and didn't think anything of it until i ran out and now i've been looking for months trying to find more and can't find it, even the recyclers i've talked to say they never get any solid copper wire that big, do you know what gauge that copper wire is and what it is typically used for???
I have to say yours was the best one for many reasons number one is that you double sided the pedals number two is that you gave texture number three it looks the best out of all the videos I've seen
It's ground wire, available at any home improvement or electric supply store. I think I used 6 or 8 gauge, not sure. It was left over from installing the electric service in my shop.
FarmCraft101 appreciate the reply back I'll continue to keep my eye out. unfortunately Lowe's and menards do not carry much copper due to theft leaving me limited
HOTDOG FINGER STUNT, I'VE SLAMMED NAILS IN THE COLD AND I'VE HIT MY FINGER LIKE THAT WHEN I WAS SLAMMING NAILS FOR A LIVING. NEVER DID FIND THE HAMMER,
The time, effort, and care you put into gifts for your wife is admirable. Great job all around and as always, great editing
Oh my gosh that is insanely beautiful wow. Im a total newbie to jewelry making and metal work but wow if only. Absolutely incredible
I really enjoyed your video, it was relatively short but showed enough so that I can give it a try. Thanks for sharing

thx for the voiceover

just rewatched ur vidio and I'm in process of fabrication....hope it turns out as nice as urs....great job!!!!
I bet it turns out great. Good luck!
it didn't turn out bad at all...thanks again!!!
WOW!! Beautiful. I'd rather so much to get these than that outrageously expensive bouquet that I have to throw away after about about 10 days!😉

Ah...Too many people don't know who John Galt is. Thanks for watching!
Who's John Galt?
Simple yet amazing! I know what the wife is getting for her birthday.... Old copper pipe lol

I also hope to craft the engagement ring myself, but that might be a little to much... I'll see what I can do I guess. I've still got time.
@@AtomicFire19 i hope it went well my man :)
Saving marriages one junk rose at a time..... 👍
Very nice. I wish I had your equipment and the shop area to put it all in. I live vicariously through folks like you. Thanks.
Ray Scrafield l Mann zn😢😴😈😵😱😟😨😤😇 $/*(!:*(^/
I have no idea what all that means but I guess thanks for replying.
Ray Scrafield lol I'm sorry my 4 year old daughter was playing with my phone and typed a comment
Well, I'm 73 years old and I don't speak 4 year old. But, that's ok. Thanks and keep up the videos.
Lol. That wasn't my reply! Thanks for watching!

curious if you used L or M copper tubing? or if K would be a better option
Lol just the hotdog thumb was worth the time spent watching the video
Awesome! Thank you for sharing!

hot dog finger deserved a thumbs up.. lol. great how to' video though
Do you have to get it red hot before putting in water? I don’t think my blow torch is strong enough to get it red hot.
i will try to make one
what width were the sheets after hammering?
What are the measurements of each pipe that you need?
u could make a bouquet of them for the missus for her birthday
Lol!
it would be the bouquet of roses that never needs to be thrown out because they never decay
Are all the copper petals the same size or are the last 2 bigger than the rest?
Holy shit.. that hotdog had me laughing
What is the diameter and length of the copper pipes you used?
Hey can you tell me what gauge wire you used for the stem?
Not sure. 6 or 8 gauge I would guess. Definitely bigger than 10.
I have to say yours was the best one for many reasons number one is that you double sided the pedals number two is that you gave texture number three it looks the best out of all the videos I've seen
Can you use copper sheets as is instead of the pipe? And how long did this take you to make
+Logan Hickman sure, but that's too easy. ;-)
FarmCraft101 how long did it take you to make
+Logan Hickman not sure. Maybe 3-4 hours.
I have 16 ounce and 20 ounce copper scraps left over from a roof project. Are these a good thickness or do you recommend thicker?
where do you find the material for the stem ?
It's ground wire, available at any home improvement or electric supply store. I think I used 6 or 8 gauge, not sure. It was left over from installing the electric service in my shop.
