hehe. I promise you I've never done coke... but depending on where I am in my coffee routine I can certainly see why that might be the case :) Kermit and I thank you.
Man your Strokes lessons has been a godsend. I love this band and I could never find any proper tutorials for songs other than Last Nite. Now I can actually play songs that I grew up loving. If it's not asking for much could you also upload tutorials for the latest album as well as a few from other albums such as Under the Cover of Darkness?
Good lesson Ryan. You think you’re taking up a lot of time telling people what scale degrees stuff is, but that’s the thing that’s missing from every lesson in UA-cam. That’s actually what’s holding so many players back. stopping to say we’re in B, because F is major and serving as the 5 of it, that’s a really solid thing to do while playing a song that uses power chords. Really good stuff.
this realization just makes me like the strokes more... albert is awfully stone gossard like, always finding something other than 'the regular thing' to do. Thank you Greyson!
4 years later, some rando shows up to say: Actually, they trade off. I usually have to find a video to see who is playing which part! I think they're both great but I can barely change chords at 50bpm yet soooo
Your videos are great - thank you! I've learned a bunch of songs from you over the years. I think my favorite part of your videos however is that it looks like you're being held captive - from the lighting and curtain to the brick wall and your enthusiasm - and forced to give guitar lessons. I love it.
Ryan Lendt awesome video by the way. I saved it to a guitar playlist I made. I just got a guitar and I’ve been playing it everyday. I still need to learn musical theory and how to do barre chords and stuff
broken knee 3 months no skating no job no nothing, first thing i thought :time to learn the guitar and first thing i see as recommended is this??? GOD BLESS THE ALGORITHM🙌
you're a legend! thanks for this vid. I love the pacing, it really bothers me when people in tutorials yammer on and on about this and that. you get right into it and its great!
What an incredible album this is, been listening to it all week. These guys came out a little too late if they came out 6-7 years early, they would have been huge.
6:50-7(:00), so tricky and nice. But it's the section starting at 3:44 that really sells the song (for me). This song and Reptillia are great Strokes stuff.
Inukshuk Entertainment. Albert is lead on most songs, but Nick took lead on this one. Although, even on many songs where Nick plays rhythm he also does solos.
"I've already taken up enough of your precious time so if you're still here thank you for being here." No, thank you for making these cool videos! ps: nice les on triads. actually made sense to me for once
I don't know the Stokes but just checked them out... not bad! They sound a little bit like the Flaming Lips (I think), not sure if you've heard of these guys? I only know a couple of their songs. Anyway Steven, thx again for another vid : )
OMG I love the flaming lips. we should do one or five of their songs - where should we start??? additionally, Steven, I would say the flaming lips are more trippy and the strokes are more hip, but certainly they are more similar to each other than say Aretha Franklin... whom i've seen in concert two times, each by accident.
Haha Isaac Gutierrez funny comment!... his friends persuaded him to do it in the early hours after a full on midnight session ...joking ... i like this guy too!, (some tutorials are so dull and lifeless!) he makes it fun, and the (Key of B) was well explained ...all good
hey thanks Adam :) Not really, my theory on learning to play the guitar is "if you learn every song you ever wanted to play you'll accidentally learn to play the guitar"
This isnt for true beginners lol. Not hating but I just do not have the vocabulary and note/chord knowledge to keep up. Admittedly I'm probably out of my league here giving this is day one on guitar for me haha. Although I have to commend you simply for covering a lesser known strokes song. Thank you man, hopefully I can come back to this in a couple weeks a little more prepared. Cheers
Please😛... do more Strokes stuff.. (I love Your attitude 💋), because, you ARE the one😉 Perhaps from the new (🥳) Album „The New Abnormal“ ?! 🥺 Thanks and Servuzz from Vienna 😘
Hey Ryan, just an editing suggestion for those of us who use head phones. Fix the volume difference between your voice and the guitar, I find myself turning up the volume to hear your voice only to have to turn it down again when the guitar is too loud and this process repeats over and over.
Cringy Stingy sorry brother... that wasn’t fair of me to leave.... the key you played I think I had a bit of a time finding it in their version of this song. I apologize the way o wrote my comment. You did a great version, your energy was wonderful and you played this version very well. - Ken in Hawaii
The 4 people who disliked this video were in a cover band who got booed off stage since they didn't watch this video
that's funny Hayden :) I'd totally be in a strokes cover band!
I like this guys lesson. Seems like he’s on coke, and then I love Kermit the Frog
hehe. I promise you I've never done coke... but depending on where I am in my coffee routine I can certainly see why that might be the case :) Kermit and I thank you.
Haha I am telling my mum
That’s a fucking gorgeous tele! Sounds beautiful 🌊
why thank you Christian! she is blushing

Albert is rhythm but I know what you mean !’ Nick valensi is lead :)

came here to say the same. Albert has a few solos, like Last Nite
This is a fun, goofy, and highly instructive lesson! Thank you! 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Albert Hammond Jr has a lot of his own of stuff too! You should look into him and teach us his song! Set to Attack by him is a great song!!
i know! I've only heard a few, but I like the ones I've heard - great request Mex
I love this guy. He get's right into the point and doesn't talk much when it comes to intro.
hey thanks XG

The lead guitarist in that song is Nick Valensi
so I'm told :)

you're a legend! thanks for this vid. I love the pacing, it really bothers me when people in tutorials yammer on and on about this and that. you get right into it and its great!
uh oh - I fear you got lucky with this one in the yam department ;) thanks for hanging out Charles
What an incredible album this is, been listening to it all week. These guys came out a little too late if they came out 6-7 years early, they would have been huge.
3:23 just a slight correction, the lead parts on YOLO are done by nick valensi, not hammond
Actually a very lit lesson thanks man
thanks spook
"No-ring finger of course" lmfaooo. Love this guy! Subbed.
:) welcome to the party splinter!
Awesome lesson for an awesome song, thanks Ryan
you're so very welcome Savio :)

agree.
Yet another song I love. Thank you very much
pleasure :)
It pained me every time he said Albert played the main guitar part😔
I guess albert is my favorite beatle so i always give him the benefit of the doubt in these departments
@@RyanLendt LMFAO
Poor Nick :(
Sooo glad I found this channel !
me too!!
Nick valensi is the lead guitarist, just so you know.
Not albert hammond Jr??? the more you know...
@@RyanLendt They switch off playing solos depending on song, but Nick is technically lead and Albert is Rythym
Honestly I see Hammond Jr being the lead guitarist, just my unpopular opinion.
Inukshuk Entertainment unpopular opinion
Inukshuk Entertainment. Albert is lead on most songs, but Nick took lead on this one. Although, even on many songs where Nick plays rhythm he also does solos.
I've never found a strokes song on guitar and this is the first, it my be 3y old but still fantastic
cheers mason :)
@@RyanLendt Thanks!
Thank you so much, great lesson

well thanks Warren - and woo hoo on the triads! there's two more shapes. should I do a vid on this topic?
yes please :) but can you wait till mid August when I am back from holiday :)
Started to watch this and then heard the E5 and decided to play Corduroy..... Can't help myself, those first two notes just take me there everytime.
you read my mind I did that too while I was working on it!
Thanks for this great video!
PS it's a Saturday!
PPS my mom says hi!
haha hello to your mom!

Hard to explain maybe?

Patiently waiting...
you look like michael scott from the office, also i really liked your lesson
never got that one before :) cheers JFR
The video is very good. You help me so much! Thank you
yeehaw cheers to you 007 :)
Could the guitar lesson video be more entertaining than the song? Could AHJ explain this song as well as this guy? I love this. Consider me subscribed
:) thanks for that and welcome to the party MLR :)
We all came here for the Pearl Jam’s ...but we stay for the rambling ....Happy Canada Day
HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!
Ryan, you’re the best! Is it possible to have more Strokes - Under Cover of Darkness, Hard to Explain, I can’t win?
been meaning to do OCOD for years thanks for the nudge!
What does grandma always bring? This is how I learn!! Ha

thanks DS - I have been meaning to!
Did u do the triad shapes video after this?
no sir
I wanna learn to play guitar so bad but this shit looks so complicated lol
that's a tough one to start with, but you can do anything with patience. If you like the strokes may i suggest last nite :)
good job scott stapp
grrrrrrrrrr :P
Don't do the man like that lmaoo
What are your amp settings?
bass treble and mid on 5, turn the gain up until it's just the right amount for a given song. that's my strategy every single time :)
Wow this lesson helps alot thanks
I'm so glad to hear that Steph - cheers!
13:17
Yes Albert plays well but did you know that Julian actually wrote all the guitar parts?
I didn't have any idea - that's impressive!
Ryan Lendt yah it’s crazy what a creative mind
Ryan Lendt oh and Yh sorry for calling you a c*nt I get quite high levels of guitar rage but your tutorial has me playing it good now 😂
I could be wrong, but i think you got Nick and Albert mixed up
I have discovered that me and the world have a very different definition of lead guitar player in this context
Guitar 2 is Nick's part, but all good.
cool man
What pedal are you using is it a chorus pedal or reverb
I didn't own any pedals yet when that video was made
Damn, I don't have dots on my guitar.
i would feel so lost - paint some on!
Ripp
What effects did you use on this cover?😊
no effects - just a little crunch on the amp :)
10:08
What pedal should I use for this
I don't know. I'm not much of a pedal guy! any distortion you like I would say

I think this is the wrong or not original key
why do you think that Ken?
Yeah Ken fukin answer
Nate Burrito lol
God damnit ken

Who else clicked wrong and wanted yolo by suicide silence?
that is not how u play it..
but okay..;
It’s wrong it needs to be higher
