I love that they chose to play this theme like 15 times throughout the movie. Honestly it feels like it’s playing the whole time. It gives the film amazing consistency.
Koba’s character is spectacular The backstory and everything was just amazing I would even go so far to say that Koba is one of the greatest movie villains to ever graze the big screen
I haven't watched the movie since it came out in theaters, but I still think of Koba's theme every week. This is my first time listening to the full thing in years!!!
I would honestly be more scared of Koba than a fucking tiger because if a tiger kills you its doing for food. Koba is just plain evil and he has a machine gun!
@@seanbrown2589 yeah....no. It's made painfully obvious in the second part he doesn't give two shits about his people when he mindlessly guns them down to reach Caesar
@@ennieminymoo6675 Him killing those apes without hesitation to kill cesar is evil, however he deems it necessary in the big picture to eliminate the only ape that can ruin his plan to secure the strength and continued wellbeing for ape society. If he was just killing random apes youd be right but not in context of the situation.
@HacksAndSlash Remember, the simian flu evolved to where it turned humans into a devolved state making it so all remaining humans saw the apes as a threat needing to be wiped out. The disagreement the Colonel had with the rest of humanities forces that lead to the last battle was about how to deal with the infected not whether or not they were going to eliminate all apes. Peace was never an option between the apes and humans despite caesars best efforts.
I never felt like Koba was evil, but he also isn't right. His hatred for the enemy was too much, ironically making him like the humans he wants to kill
The dude executed his own like nothing and in the end he just starts gunning down even those loyal to him in hopes of killing Caesar, the dude was evil to the core
@@ennieminymoo6675 True but the whole reason he was evil was because he was insane, and the reason he went insane was because he was horrifically tortured by the humans. So yes, he was evil but he was also a victim. It's one of those cases where someone does something horrendously wrong but you can see that what drove them to do that thing was also horrendously wrong. In my opinion his hatred of the humans was something that can be at least partially sympathized with.
I like how he's shown to have put it all aside at the beginning, but seeing the humans co-exist with the apes, giving them the chance to survive, makes him go apesh*t.
There is a book written about the time between Rise and Dawn and it talks about Koba’s back story. He was owned by two different handlers before gensys lab and they both tortured him. One put a cigarette out in his eye. So when we catch up to him in Dawn he seems ok and normal but under the surface he has a hair trigger waiting to go off. Humans are that trigger. He doesn’t trust them at all. And he feels betrayed when Caesar chooses to help them. When he shoots Caesar, his loyalty to the apes is gone, it’s all about him getting his revenge and he shows that he is blinded by his rage and revenge goals and is willing to hurt anyone that gets in the way of that ( Ash ) ( Ape on the tower holding gun under the wreckage ). We are watching Koba evolve the entire movie by reverting back to his memories and acting on his pain from those memories. He is an evolutionary tale playing out and with each moment he is becoming less able to see and in turn much more evil. Caesar says “ Koba fight for Koba” and that is the ending point of his rage. He realizes Caesar is right and he has been found out and he explodes into the fight with him. So, he doesn’t start out that way seemingly, but he is a ticking time bomb. Great character. My favourite actually in the entire series. FYI Rebuttals to this comment have no place here, Comments about Koba are over, now….
@@thegamingking2212 Malcom from dawn was decent. Will( franco) was awesome, Grandpa( John Lithgow) was awesome cause he's awesome and other than that I was disappointed in woody Harrelson's performance tbh but overall grandpa was easily the most relatable character.
People saying Koba did nothing wrong don’t understand morality. Bro killed innocents on both sides because of his own hatred. Sure, you can see why he hated humans, but he killed his own kind including an attempted murder on the ape who freed him, Caesar. Not to mention ordering the burning of the ape home and imprisonment of apes for sole purpose of loyalty to Caesar. Yes, he was victim to evil things from the humans, but that doesn’t justify him.

Eddie Hjalmarsson he killed innocent humans, shot Caesar, killed ash for sparing a human put innocent humans and apes in a cage, and started a war which wiped out the human race, killed Caesar along with other apes! Do I need to list more things!
he did, but his past is truly tragic i can understand why he gave himself to the hatred towards humans, althought he didn't understand that his actions are no different from the humans he hates
Koba is not naive enough to think that humans would spare apes when they will get their electricty and communicate with rest of the human societies therefore gaining much more population and means. So Koba is mentally stronger than Caesar
