The bear was real, but the characters and events are fictional, while the bear died of a drug overdose 20 minutes after ingesting the narcotic substance.
43:47-43:50 Indeed. Given it’s admittedly direct to streaming title, you’d expect it to be very phoned in, but the fact it had a major studio release into theaters and the people who made it seemed to have fun and put love and care into it, especially the shots and VFX, it’s a pleasant surprise.
I watched this opening week with my entire school tennis team and as stupid as everyone thought it was, we still had a blast. Munching on movie theater popcorn and going with 25 people was a great experience
The scene where the kids try the coke they found was the best part of the movie. As much as they were like taking out of the bag to do killed me hahaha.
There's a Documentary on Peacock about the Cocaine Bear and the pilot at the beginning of the movie. It shows everyone who was involved with the "case". From the home owner who found the pilot in his front yard to the park ranger who found the Bear with a bag of cocaine. They interview the agents and officers who were after the pilot and the first to arrived at the scene. They talk about the pilot how crazy the guy was. Hell they even mentioned Woody Harrelson's father and how he was involved. It's crazy how this shit happened in real life. I recommend you guys to watch it.
I love Alden Ehrenreich in Beautiful Creatures - he stole the movie for me. He's so sweet, and earnest and he takes that YA material for what its worth and is a wonderful hero for the heroine. That cast is stacked - his 1st film with Margo Martindale, in fact - Viola Davis, Jeremy Irons and Emma Thompson. Love that film! I also love the take about how the story allows the separate character archs to breathe on their own and eventually, naturally converge into one.
Hey, Greg and John (and other Rejects)! I have a random film suggestion! If you haven’t seen it yet, you should totally react to Monster House during the fall season!! It’s a pretty overlooked and underrated movie! It came out in 2006 and might as well be considered the first horror film I ever saw. It’s sorta similar to Coraline, in that they’re both spooky animated films from the 2000s. Keep up the good work! Love your reactions and nerdy personalities!
When I watched this in theaters, I had a blast with this one! It was so ridiculous even though it was based off real events and when the bears finished off Ray Liotta (RIP), the audience clapped knowing the bears finally got their cocaine! LOL
I haven't seen the kid in anything else yet but I recognised him as the deer kid from Sweet Tooth. I've only seen images from that so far though. It's on my list.
I had the same experience. I remember the audience getting the most laughs out of the ambulance scene, the “it’s vagina is on my ear” line and when the girl says the “deer are doing it”
I read a comment at some point that said, “This movie would’ve been way better if it was directed by someone like Edgar Wright.” And as much as I enjoyed this movie, I agree.
Margo Martindale is an amazing actor. This is a mini reunion between Keri Russell, Mathew Rys(both real life wife and husband) and Margo Martindale from The Americans.
I don’t think it took itself seriously AT ALL. Sure there was a couple of dramatic moments, but you gotta have a little of that to actually care about the main humans involved
It didn't take itself seriously at all lol What are you talking about?? That was like the whole point of this movie was just a fun over the top silly premise.
I think some people took the film's approach of playing it 100% straight for the film taking itself seriously. It would be like saying Airplane! took itself too seriously cause all the actors played it straight like it was an actual drama... This movie's not taking anything serious, but the actors are acting like this a real Jaws-like thriller and not a spoof of the situation...
My parents and I picked this movie thinking it was gonna be funny, while forgetting that "cocaine" and "bear" were the worst two words to ever be put together. After the ambulance scene, we spent a good 10 minutes questioning our life choices before growing a pair and finishing it.
The fact that this actually happened, par from the bear surviving that much angel dust, is really wild and somewhat hilarious to think about, sad yes, but hilarious nonetheless.
This originally sounded like the stupidest idea for a movie to me. It's incredibly rediculous lol. But it has good kills and it's tailer'd very differently to most comedy horror movies today. It's almost giving me Without a Paddle, Tucker & Dale vs evil vibes. The tone feels more retroactive which is appropriate for the time frame it takes place in. So not a bad movie but just absurd. I can't believe how fast the bear switched from one tree to another. Can bears legit run up trees like that? That's terrifying.
This is real. No doubt. I am going to now use subscriptions n substances. It is out of my control. This trip is on your hands. See you on the other side. Lol. Enjoyed the video n reaction. Good group of people. Thanks for sharing.
They established earlier with the park ranger that there was two ways up the mountain, a long way and a short way. Could this be the reason why the cop got up to the gazebo quicker?
Seeing Aloy getting wrecked at the beginning had me laughing hard lmaoooo. She escaped mecha beast in Horizon 1 & 2 but couldn’t escape a real bear on cocaine loll
A group of us from work knew we had to see this in the theater with other people because we knew how crazy it would be. We were not disappointed but weren't expecting how gory it was during certain scenes.
I could not stop laughing at the whole movie. Had Super Trooper vibes so stupid it was genius! The kids were adorable 😅 I needed this hilarity thanks guys still laughing 😅😅😅🐻🐻🐻💖💖💖🎬🎬✌️
The true story is that the bear ate as much of cocaine as a can for about 20 minutes than ran non stop for 30 minutes and collapse from heart failure,, but yes this movie is based off what would have happened if somebody would have came across during the that time
It’ll be cool to see you guys to react to ER’s season 11 episode 6 “Time of Death.” It’s a great and emotional episode that focuses on Ray Liotta’s character.
the cop was in the wire, he was that Senator, the one who always said "sheeeeeeeeeeeit"... didn't realize until just now that the environmentalist guy the ranger was hot for was Jesse Tyler Ferguson from Modern Family

Cocaine otter….

The bear did die, obviously, but is available at the Kentucky fun mall to take photographs with, not joking.
@@EricAriel5 Pablo Escobear!😄
yeah the bear only went like 100 yards
Also, the guy throwing out the coke from the plane was also real
Karma got at that guy in beginning too cause he’s reason why that bear died
The cop reached the gazebo earlier because he didn't take the long scenic route. This was mentioned when the mom was going with the ranger.
RIP, Ray Liotta, this was one of his last films before his passing.
Really good role they had for him I thought
how did he die?

I just saw this in theaters a few days ago with my mother. The ambulance and gazebo scene were the best moments
That stretcher flying out the back 😂
The scene where the kids try the coke they found was the best part of the movie. As much as they were like taking out of the bag to do killed me hahaha.
Not only that but the line from the girl saying the deer were doing it was so random yet hilarious 😂
One of the few monster movies where I think the human characters were fun to watch the entire time
The kids in particular were great. They very much understood the kind of performances needed.
This was most certainly the movie of all time. alden ehrenreich was my favorite performance in the entire film.
Wait, wait, you're gonna shoot him?!"
"Of course I'm gonna shoot him, he took a bite outta my ass!"
"What is wrong with this guy?!"
😂😂😂

The ambulance scene without music made that scene more tense and scary honestly.
The Kaput and Zosky without Theme song made about favorite things!
I was literally crying with laughter with the whole ambulance sequence
I love how the bear gets powered up by coke like his Popeye gets powered up by spinach 😆

This was one if the best theater experiences ever for me. 1. Game Night 2. No Way Home and then this instant classic 😂😂
Me and my buddy went and saw this stoned asf and it was the greatest movie theater experience I've had. This movie had us dying in laughter
When I watched this in theaters, I had a blast with this one! It was so ridiculous even though it was based off real events and when the bears finished off Ray Liotta (RIP), the audience clapped knowing the bears finally got their cocaine! LOL
Agreed
And it was “loosely” based on real events since the bear in real life didn’t kill anyone
I haven't seen the kid in anything else yet but I recognised him as the deer kid from Sweet Tooth. I've only seen images from that so far though. It's on my list.
Yeah it's really great

I mean, Edgar Wright goes good with anything, but I commend Elizabeth Banks direction on this. She did a good job
Margo Martindale is an amazing actor. This is a mini reunion between Keri Russell, Mathew Rys(both real life wife and husband) and Margo Martindale from The Americans.
This movie took itself a little too seriously, but it was entertaining and hilarious as hell. Definitely one of those "so bad, it's awesome" movies.

Henry is one of my favorite film characters of recent memory, that kid is a natural 🤣
Loved every part of this movie. RIP Ray Liotta

Scientists said when the bear congested that cocaine it was the most powerful creature alive for 22 minutes.

It’s not often a movie can get you to root for a homicidal coked up bear
The dead corpse of course is Matthew Rhys from the FX show The Americans and Keri Russell portrayed his onscreen wife.
And Character Actress Margo Martindale!

I think the writers were on cocaine while writing this film
Isn't that kid from Sweet Tooth show??
This movie is exactly it’s title. Nothing more, nothing less. Had fun!
Ray Liotta was like a coke dealer version of Quinn from Jaws
3:26 in all honesty his Game of Thrones character would murder that bear 😭😭

I went and saw the real bear in a local mall! Super cool to see
So that tree thing-
Bears can actually do that-
If they really really want something in a tree they'll become the equivalent of a giant squirrel-
That is the kid from Sweet Tooth!!!!!!
The song "Cocaine" was playing along in my head the whole time i was watching this in the cinema. Hahaha...
