Being a novice at 75 years old, I watched everything I could about coyote and other critter trapping. Yours are hands down the best. Thanks for putting out the effort. Seems whenever I have a question you have the answer. I really needed the sewing lesson. I butchered my first coyote skinning it. Screwed up the face and sliced a huge hole fleshing. Continuing to work on my skills. 👍
As a retired veterinarian, your life would be a lot easier and faster if you would learn to use a pair of needle holders and thumb forceps as you are basically suturing skin. If you use needle holders, you will understand and appreciate the curved needle and it will make life easier. Also, you are spot on about "freshening" the edges.

Been watching this channel for many years, i have learned just about everything i know about trapping from this channel, i love the great work you do and really want to thank you for making these videos, keep up the awesome work man!
Thank you very much young man for doing what you do for the last 10 years, I really do appreciate the information. I am 72 years old and I love the fact that you're using a winch and homemade hand grips. I left Vietnam in 1969 two times on a stretcher, Marine corps 2nd battalion 7th Marines echo company.
The first coyote I got was with a 300 Win Mag while deer hunting. Lots of stitching. The pressure through the shoulder blade blew a 12 inch rip in the off side. Some people might have thrown it out but it was my first and a nice one. It came out perfect and is hanging on my wall. Can't even tell from the outside. I just hated the middle school class where they made me learn how to sew. It is strange when and why a person uses what they are forcibly taught.
For some reason, this is one area I've never had an issue with. I guess being a life-long First-Aid'er, and having a competent seamstress for a mother, gave me an advantage. Also, my wife works at a hospital and brings me home suture kits. They work like a charm, but have the curved needles. It's fleshing that's giving me grief... Was trying to use the board, but just built myself a beam that I'm about to try for the 1st time !
Good job and good instructing. I use dental floss also and find it works best. I watched a video the other day of your on handling fox. You said you wash all of them. One step you left out that I had a question on. How do you dry the pelts before stretching? Thanks.
Length was just about as short as you could get and still get it right. Thanks for the info. Have been doing ok winging it, but learned a few good tricks!
Will dental floss hold up in a pickle? Or are you stitching after you’ve pickled the hide? Preparing to coyote hunt and tan for the first time this year, your videos have been a tremendous help!
Good video. Keep up the great work. Can you do a video on fur storage once it come off the boards and before it is sent to auction? Thanks. Dirtman trapper
Stu, Thanks for everything. You have no idea what you've done for us. Question: Do I buy waxed or non-waxed dental floss? And I guess the mint part doesn't matter. Thanks.
I shot a red with a broadhead back in the 70s when they were worth money. I was about 10-12 years old and I spent some time stitching. I got $125.00 for that hide! I believe that was the last hide i stitched, and the last time I shot one with a bow
hey brother i appreciate your videos, i got a question for ya, how long would you recommend a coyote hide to stay in the freezer. say this year your not satisfied with the prices, could you leave it in the freezer until next year then flesh it and dry it or would that degrade the fur in any way... thanks alot
I love your channel and I have followed it for a while. I feel this is a great video tp learn from and I am waiting patiently for the rest of the videos on tanning the deer hide.
This is a great video. The only part I didn't like was that it's about sewing up as home and when you got to the actual sewing part, you time lapse through it in 5 seconds. Wish you would have actually shown it.
If you're going to tan fur instead of trapper drying for auctions, don't sew the holes. They will be ripped out or cut in the rest of the tanning process. Good videos.
If you dont like something dont comment or watch and if you let all animals in the wild live free without a hunting and trapping season major problems would happen just between species themselves

The knowledge you put up is invaluable for the trapping and fur handling community. Under appreciated, thank you
Excellent . All the fur color stayed consistent

Thank ya for your service Sir
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills with the rest of us who are less experienced
For learning purposes, I would also love to see this in real time. Thanks for your video!
As always - your videos are spot on - thanks for making such informative videos - I’m learning a ton from you - thanks!
your sewing video was very helpfull
i really find your videos very helpfull thanks again
What impact does the stitching have if you're having the hide tanned? would the bath/round knife work just open it up again?
Nice sewing job Stu. I like linen thread smooth and real strong.
Great video and great channel!! This is where I learned how to do my fur work.
Great video Stu. Nice job.
Thanks bro. Been needing this video! 🤣😂
Great 👍 thanks for taking the time to film this:) bien trabajo señor 😊
You make things look so easy..... Thanks!
Great video Stu! Keep up the good work bud!
Awesome man definitely learned and got something from this video ! Thanks for sharing!
Nice job Stu and thanks for sharing. Later buddy and all the best.

Nice video, very educational as usual!

I'm a taxidermist and I use a 2 3/8 straight glovers needle for holes.
I'm with ya on that curved needle. Gives me fits...lol
Would this be considered trying to fool the fur grader? Should you tell them there’s a hole?
Thanks for all the great info! I do have a question though, do you cut out scabs on the critters and sew them up?

Great video
Definitely need this! Maybe try some hemostats, might work a little better even more so since they lock.
Great instruction thanks
Should you sew it up before you tan or after you tan?
great video, but at what point in the handling process do you sew up the hole? before or after salting
incredible & excellent - liked!
Thanks man...I needed to see this lol.
Good video. Keep up the great work. Can you do a video on fur storage once it come off the boards and before it is sent to auction? Thanks. Dirtman trapper
I just wanted to ask...is the tail on the coyote bigger and longer that a fox tail? Or is a fox tail bigger and longer??
Is the dental floss waxed or unwaxed?
Thank you
You need to get yourself some needle holders or hemostats instead of the pliers. Great videos. Keep it up
Stu, Thanks for everything. You have no idea what you've done for us. Question: Do I buy waxed or non-waxed dental floss? And I guess the mint part doesn't matter. Thanks.
Awesome very nice👍👊🤘
what is the name brand and size of the small blue handled knife Stu ? I need a couple of those for initial cuts !
THose are Weibe brand. Good knives and good price point
I like the long videos
Looks like you been cooking in the fur shed again. I have a hard time finding needles. Hobby shops are hit in miss
I'm here because I'm thinking of tanning hides to just have around the house or possibly make pillows, clothing etc

Mike Flick shoulda used a field point lol
Max Leonard I know!Almost cut him in half!
Mike Flick 😂👍
When you wash do you use detergent? and do you use hot or cold water?

Nice job doc! Lol
Do you ever wash that table off
Do you sale your pelts or keep them for yourself?
Unless the fur prices are crappy, he sells them.
With the auction price down on Beaver...are you doing any trapping for them ?
Great video like to a video on how set up your staple gun so it don’t drive it all the way down
How often do u check ur sets
Stacey Shaw almost every state requires a 24 hour check on land and some states have a 48 for traps that are under water/ ice
nice
Made one on tail end beaver last night thanks ! Whats average amount of time to leave it on board anyone?
Till it feels and sounds like sandpaper
I just found a video on CT Trapperman's channel called "Making A PVC Fleshing Beam". Is this how you do it or close to how you do it, Stu?
If your given a pelt shot with bird shot what's the deal on that.
Thanks very helpful, I have a fox that I have to fix up, very thin skin on those.
Lol I just did this with a fox last night.

You take shot furs for free are they worth much shot with bird shot
If you're going to tan fur instead of trapper drying for auctions, don't sew the holes. They will be ripped out or cut in the rest of the tanning process. Good videos.
