Björn Juhl's BJF is one of the most revered pedal companies on the planet and rightly so. He has melded minds and resources with One Control to bring you a range of small-size, big-sound production pedals built to the highest standards. I have had the good fortune to try five or six of them and they have all been outstanding. The Purple Plexifier is no exception. One Control have managed to can a very big sound into a very small pedal case. You can shape the mids to your own taste and beyond that it's tone, gain, tone, gain and more tone and gain. And, man, it doth rock!! So, if you're looking for a Plexi-type pedal, you'd do well to inspect a Purple Plexifier before making your final choice. This one goes to eleven!

This is the best video demo of this pedal that I've seen so far. Well done.

Great sounding pedal! One Control should work on a Guv'nor clone next.

How do you film the pedal from above?
Would be great to know to film small electronics or detail work.
What cam do you use for it?
That tiny purple sucker sounds fantastic.

I have a Wampler Plexi Drive, which is probably my favourite drive pedal. This sounds just as nice but with a bit more of a higher gain range I think. Have you tried the Wampler, how do you think they compare?

That little box definitely delivers a Marshall-In-A-Box, In fact it does a much better job than most to my ear/humble honest opinion. Obviously helps that a player with ace chops, a wide knowledge of gear along with the other key ingredient of quality gear demos: Mic choice, positioning plus mix down with voice over (and video/post editing). You do it well Brett. You're feeling it which I take as the little beast responding dynamically, Impressive compact box. Cheers

Thanks, Dean. Yes, it is better than most. Maybe 'the' best. It's just so much fun to play. I think it would really shine when onstage - where it would count for me - due to its dynamic qualities. It has more than most and that midrange, wow..

***** Thanks for the low down, I will certainly be trying one at my local up here in the Northwest of England, UK Brett. I'm a big Marshall fan and started with a little Marshall solid state combo after a Gorilla 1x6". I've had quite a few but I've always kept my DSL50 head, I know that you enjoy Laney amongst many others (I'm no different, Laney & Blackstar have been killing it for awhile now, It is good to see Marshall responding). Funnily enough my most recent buy was an original govner as I'd had mine swiped years ago when gigging, So I have Marshall-in-a-box on the brain right now. Muchos appreciated and all the very best

I enjoy your videos (and have been subbed for some time), but I personally wasn't digging this pedal that much.
I found it distorted and had a fuzzy quality at lower down the gain range (and when you backed off the volume) than I'd like. I prefer Marshall-in-a-box style pedals that maintain their clarity and sing and only distort when the gain is fairly high. I like the tonality, I just don't like the texture. Mind you, the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing/s.

All that hair/sizzle and Van Halen riffs makes me think it sounds more like a 5150. Especially if you dip the mids back a tad. Great distortion pedal, one of the best I've heard. But not quite Plexi.
    Do you agree?

Probably just my Van Halen tendencies, Keith. Can't help myself.
